Blackwells Farm Shop Reviews 

We visited Blackwells Farm Shop for the first time a few weeks ago and was really impressed.

I picked up one of their handmade lamb and mint pies, and it was absolutely delicious proper quality and full of flavour.

It’s a little further out for us but definitely worth the trip. I’ll be making more of an effort to shop here regularly, and I’m keen to try their online service too.

Was looking for some local Essex lamb for a big mother's day celebration with the family.
Found Blackwell's and they seemed pretty great from reading their website but was a bit concerned by some of the old reviews on here.
Dived in and committed on a giant lamb shoulder and have to say everyone at lunch commented on what a lovely piece of meat it was, it was so tender and juicy it really was the best lamb I've ever had (or cooked!).
Delivery was also fab, driver was super friendly and handed the meat to me so it went straight in the fridge, no leaving it on the doorstep like some other companies I've used!

Went to Blackwell butchers after been told good pies spent £25 on tasteless pies etc 1st and last time

Purchased a rib of beef joint for the new year. Looked great from the outside. However once cooked the first cut took off a thin layer of meat. However the remaining joint was 80% thick fat. And completely inedible. Took photos and went back to the shop just after the new year. Spoke to Glen and showed him the photos. He agreed the joint was very poor and at a cost of £74 not value for money. He took my details and said he or Howard would ring me back as yet not heard a word. Would never use them again. It appears once they have your cash they couldn't care less. Shame because we have used Blackwells for approx 15 years.

I ordered a large of amount of meat which i collected from Blackwells on 24/12/22 .
I had ordered Turkey,Gammon,Beef, Pork & Venison and sauage meat.
My whole family were ( and have been in the past) really pleased with the quality which we get , which is why I order from herefor these occasions & we travel to collect. Will most definately do again & recommend to others do similar

I ordered "lean" diced lamb which was anything but lean. Fat content was closer to 35%.

Giving three stars instead of one because I also ordered goat meat which was excellent and ox cheek, again excellent.

Ordered online and collected. Order was correct. Chickens and steaks very good quality, tender and delicious. Good sausages too.

Been into their shop a few times and their produce is excellent. As a result I ordered online however would not do so again. No organisation around delivery - order was a day later than promised, no one knew why or seemed to care that much. When I called to find out where my delivery was the lady I spoke to found a handwritten note which the person in the shop had with my order details.

Even funnier was the careless inclusion of a note a staff member had written to another saying “not a happy man” on the invoice in my delivery box.

Could be doing great business through online and delivery but I placed my £200 Christmas order somewhere with Farmison as they look after customers.

I invested £42 for a large 'rare breed' chicken for a special family meal. What turned up was a piece of drying out poultry with half a breast missing. I sent photographs of the offensive beast to the company and was promised a refund. It never arrived and subsequent email requests were ignored. I got the impression they could not care less about quality control or customer care.
