I bought a Blackhawk Network gift card in the amount of $100.00 and had an unfortunate experience with my gift card purchase on Amazon.com. Upon activating the card, I discovered that it only had a balance of one penny, and upon investigation, the card oddly showed a fraudulent transaction on the day of activation, a scammer spent $100 on Walmart.com. I immediately contacted Blackhawk customer service and followed all required steps, and a replacement card was sent only to have the same problem with the replacement card. Upon activation, the replacement card with a zero balance on it.
Despite numerous attempts to rectify the situation with the card network, I have encountered prolonged excuses, additional requirements, delays, and difficulties.
After numerous calls to them, emails, and submitting the requested documents of proof, it has become evident that the gift card company has failed to deliver the expected value, and left me without a resolution. Regrettably, the process of obtaining a refund through the card network has proven to be unsuccessful, leading to a financial loss.
It is disheartening to acknowledge that despite my best efforts, the company and Cardholder Dispute Services seem unresponsive to rectifying this issue, and I feel compelled to share this experience.
Blackhack decided that there was no fraud in the expense by someone else at Walmart.com. What they don't get is that someone has been buying scammily on my Walmart account, and the last four numbers of the fraud person's phone are 5885. I have never had a phone with those ending phone numbers. There is no way to talk to a person at Walmart, and Blackhawk Network makes bad decisions.

Don't buy gift cards from BNH unless you are prepared to lose the money and give up your personal information.
They will lock your gift card for no reason and ask to sent personal documents, photo ID and selfie to unlock. Reporting their fraud to Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau

I’m writing this as a technically savvy person who knows how systems should work—and Blackhawk Network is a total failure. We bought gift card at Publix, and because of the cheap cardboard packaging, the numbers tore off the moment I opened them. That was just the beginning of this disaster.
I have called their support line three separate times:
First Call: I couldn't get through to a human at all. The automated system is junk and keeps looping.
Second Call: Someone finally picked up, but they clearly had their mute button on. They refused to speak and then just hung up on me.
Third Call: I finally got a person, but he spent the whole time trying to justify the "hoops" I have to jump through. He claimed this broken system is for "security and anti-scamming," but it’s actually just a barrier that makes the product 100% user-unfriendly.
The automated system keeps claiming the website is working for activation, but it is NOT. It throws errors every time. Reputable companies like Vanilla Gift Card manage to protect customers without these ridiculous hurdles. Blackhawk’s "security" is just an excuse for a broken product. Save your money and buy literally any other card.
I hope they take this as constructive criticism as this was an extremely stressful situation for me. The gift card was supposed to be a gift. Imagine having to do this much effort. Initially calling to get a replacement, then waiting 10 days, then having the automated system not work two or three times, then having the website not work. And then hearing a customer service agent justify the whole system.
Just stick with vanilla gift cards. At least they are $3.95 to activate instead of $7.95.
Update: Blackhawk was able to give me a partial good faith credit and I consider this issue resolved now. Thank you very much.

I had a giftcard damaged while scratching off the pin. Part of the pin became illegible. The customer service replied to my emails within hours each time and quickly resolved and reissued a giftcard. It was seamless and I appreciated the help!

I buy a lot of gift cards last year over $30,000 worth I've never had any problems until recently I bought a $500 Blackhawk Cash Card I tried to use it to pay a internet bill and it would work so I went online to register it and they said online I had $500 on the card. A few days later I tried to use it and it wouldn't work so I called I now have a $1.75. I called customer service and they said it was my fault because I wasn't really on their site but if I wasn't how did they know I had $500 on the card. They also said they could see it was fraudulent charges that's why they put a hold on with a $1.75 left. They also said I had to send them pictures of the receipt activation code front and back of the card credit card statement I don't even remember what else which I did I was supposed to receive a card with the dollar 75 on it and they would dispute the rest. What's to dispute it's your fault you have a dishonest employee or a hack. 2 months later I have nothing except emails every once in awhile that they're working on it. The other day I gave my daughter a $200 Blackhawk Cash Card she called the number on the card to set up a pin they said there was $200 on it 2 hours later she went to use it and there was Zero once again they said they could see that it was fraudulent internet charges hopefully she will do better than me. If you buy one of these cards my suggestion to you would be do not register by phone or Internet don't call to find out how much the balance is just use it. For one person to have two instances they have a big problem my guess would be it's an Insider job be careful

Your Customer Service Representative introduced himself, asked what I needed assistance with, took the details, shared that he would have to put me on hold for a short period, not over 2 mins., came back at about 1 min to confirm I was still on hold and to advise he would be back in 1 min to with a resolution, and he was. Carlos verified action to be taken to receive a replacement card. Within a minute I received an email sharing the details. Everything is now resolved. It was a pleasure! Thank you. In 3 minutes!! Fabulous.

Purchased 2 cards recently. One took 30 minutes before it would upload a card. I had to scan over and over again before it would add to my walled. Today I had another card, thought the issue last time was a fluke, nope. 45 minutes later and it will not upload. I had to goodly and search just to find a number to call. Now I have to wait 24 hours to hear back. Sure hope the cards I purchased for gifts were fine because that would’ve very embarrassing!

This company is a scam. They tell you to check your balance on their website. As soon as you do they have a company that does fake charges and take your money! It’s impossible to get in touch with customer service they make up fake reasons not to give your money back. This has happened to both cards that weee purchased.

Purchased a Mastercard gift card for a friend for Christmas. He just tried to use it and it was decline. He tried calling in and got the run around and gave the card back to me. I tried calling in for help and they told me the card was register to a woman's name and I would have to email their support team for help. I sent in pictures of the front and back of the card, the activation receipt, and the receipt of purchase. They want a copy of my a utility bill as well? Googled it online and others are saying that after that Blackhawk asks you for a picture of you holding your ID. This whole thing sounds so scammy. So now I'm fustrated and out $25 dollars.
