Advertised as a local produce, overpriced poor quality mostly non local produce

Advertised as a local produce farm shop, I was shocked to see the “over priced” eggs were hardly local and had travelled 40 miles from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire. They had a bottle of Hawkstone Fruit Cider, £5.98, in a top supermarket it’s £3.99- the brewery is 43mies from the farm shop.

I bought oat and bran rolls, in date - on using them I found no bran, but barley grain which were not on the list of ingredients. I can’t eat seeds and had poorly tummy later.
My daughter bought crusty white rolls for the following day, still within use by, she told me all 4 had dried out so much they disintegrated into crumbs when she cut them.
I had looked at a loaf of bread, its first ingredient was Soya Flour. Most of the bread and pastry products looked cheap mass produced but sold with a premium price tag.

We both had a bacon and sausage bap, the sausage was a cheap pink thing and the bacon was salty and tasteless.

We also bought a Pork Pie, tasted like one of those pies with highly processed belly pork , very pink interior and pastry that was ultra smooth. Similar to the very cheap ones supermarkets sell to go as in they match other supermarkets prices with.

Generally the farm shop produce is excessively over priced. the farm shop looks large but is small, the gifts also are over priced along with alcoholic drinks even the sweets were ridiculously over priced.

Parking was difficult very few spaces available for customers to use, signage for the farm shop is poor, there is an unsigned side entrance past the main entrance, turn left and left as you exit the roundabout. Exiting here is slightly quicker than finding a safe space on the dual carriageway exit. Just watch for traffic and use the road markings as per the Highway Code.

I do not recommend Becketts Farm Shop, there are far better farm shops out there.

Not really a farm shop just a supermarket.

So called farm shop, more like an overpriced supermarket.
There doesn’t seem to be a farm, though they claim to source produce locally.
Some reviews mention organic and free range produce, nos sign of that on meat counter.
We were Shopping for a barbecue.
Corn on the cob was in its husk. Got home and took off husk to find the corn was very dried out inside. Goodness knows how long it’s been on the shelf.
Rump steak, a little tough and not very tasty, bbq chicken wings, ok.
Small tomatoes overpriced but nice taste.
Serving staff very pleasant.

Dogs not allowed inside at all. Even though baking hot outside.

Very large car park.
Unlikely to go back. Tesco produce is fresher.

If I could give a minus rating I would

If I could give a minus rating, I honestly would.

While in the area today, I decided to take my wife for a cheeky breakfast. Knowing it was a farm shop we were expecting to pay over the odds but wow…..

When we got to the restaurant, we were told we couldn’t have a table as we hadn’t pre booked; no harm done so we went over to the cafe.

We ordered 2 hot sandwiches on granary bread which came with a hot drink for £17…..yes you read that correctly, I said £17 English pounds.

If that wasn’t enough to put you off, it gets better. We then proceeded to wait for 30 minutes for our food, by which time we had drank our delicious ‘lukewarm’ coffee.

They then brought out what I can only describe as the worst sandwich I have ever had the misfortune to be presented with.

It was dry, freezing cold and on white bread not granary which was so stale, I wouldn’t have fed ducks with it, and I was at this point out of coffee which was a necessity in order to be able to swallow the food. Add to that, the bacon was one good vet away from resurrection

Seriously, avoid this place for breakfast unless you enjoy paying to be punished.

Underwhelming

Love the coffee shop bright and airy but the service is so slow. One person on to serve and make coffees. I asked for a latte but as person was too busy talking to their friend I was served a cappuccino which at the time I didn’t realise. I then had a spoonful of coffee under the foamed milk it wasn’t worth the £3.75 at all. There are much better places for coffee but with a beautiful place they could do more for customers

Disappointing visit for lunch

What a very disappointing visit to Restaurant today. We waited (4 of us) quite a long time for food to come to us, granted, they were busy so let that go. However, it wasn't really worth waiting for, chips were well overdone and pretty inedible. No one offered us desserts or hot drinks and then it got so cold, assume they switched heating off. Now they have restrictions with parking, doubt we will bother again.

Excellent as usual

Three of us booked for breakfast and it was absolutely superb.
So glad I didn't read the negative reviews - we've never had a bad experience here.
The restaurant is lovely and the we always enjoy the farm shop.

We are frequent visitors to Becketts farm. The shop is lovely. Haven’t been in the restaurant for a while but wasn’t that impressed these last time. Went with my husband last week. We popped into the cafe for a coffee and sandwich. I was horrified by the state of the place . Absolutely filthy, coffee spilt all over the chairs , dirty tables and floors. The place is disgraceful. The place needs to be refurbished, it’s in a sorry state, chairs ripped and damaged. We won’t be going in there again . Who has it go a hygiene certificate?

Had a bacon sandwich from the sandwich…

Had a bacon sandwich from the sandwich counter at Becketts Farm which was quite probably the worst sandwich I've ever thrown away. Besides the bacon being very dry and overcooked it had a piece of fried onion on it! Staff very friendly and helpful but what I don't understand is why someone would think it's acceptable to make and sell a sandwich like that! I must say though that normally food at Becketts Farm is top quality although a little expensive.

First time visit to the farm and was…

First time visit to the farm and was really looking forward to it. Produce is fab yes you pay a bit more than supermarkets but what you get is so much better. I wanted to try out the restaurant but got quickly turned away as I approached the server/manager who quite abruptly said ‘did you book?’ I replied no I didn’t know I had to book. She replied quite rudely: if you haven’t booked you can’t be seated & we are fully booked. I looked around at the empty tables and there were only two tables half filled all the others were empty. As I walked away I half heard her colleague questioned why she said that to me. I didn’t want to make a fuss at the time and I certainly didn’t want confrontation question them at the time. I also didn’t want my day ruined. But I wonder how many customers did this person turn away and lost business because this person didn’t want to do their job. The queue in the cafe was huge, the tables were full. But the restaurant was practically empty? People were sitting outside eating on the benches and also standing around eating and drinking. Surely a restaurant should not be turning away potential customers. I was on my own but I would have spent at least £30 on drinks, meal and pudding. So can you image how much money was lost in one afternoon if the manager/server was turning customers away because they haven’t pre-booked. Good customer service goes a long way but bad service has an impact on a business. Food for thought!! I enjoyed seeing the sunflowers, but I had expectations the sunflowers would be the very tall ones. Still impressive, made me feel better being in nature and seeing all thoughs sunny yellow flowers. Took some good photos and did a bit of art work too.

Visited today for my Sons Birthday and…

Visited today for my Sons Birthday and was really looking forward to the Sunday lunch as been told how delicious the food is.
My Son who is a grown adult asked if he could have a smaller portion as he didnt feel hungry. My Daughter didn't feel up to a hot carvery either as very warm day and I don't eat large meals either. While it was not a problem for us to have a smaller plate my Son was publicly humiliated by a member of staff who shouted at him insisting on him having a larger meal which really upset the atmosphere of a party celebration. While I can appreciate that obviously a smaller meal is less to pay there were other adults in the group having the larger meals.
This situation was very unprofessional and could have been dealt more tactfully. Shame on you lady!!
When we were leaving this same woman threw us the most filthy looks and even though we were overcharged we left without questioning the bill as we were made to feel so uncomfortable. Needless to say will not visit again.
Never been treated so appalling in all the establishments we have dined in.
Really don't think this awful person should be working in hospitality. Never got her name but she knows who I'm talking about.
Hope she treats her colleagues better than the customers.

Disappointing visit for a friends Birthday.
Meal arrived with stale toast, cold food & very over cooked bacon n sausage, although lovely poached eggs. Breakfast was a real mish mash
It was difficult to gain the waitress attention when she did come over she seemed perturbed that we had called her over, waitress sent for the manager who also seemed unimpressed that we had complained. She asked us if we wanted replacement meals but no apology or explanation & definitely no service with a smile was offered.
Overall we felt as though we shouldn't have complained & we were an inconvenience to the waiting staff.
Have visited in the past with no complaints but today was very disappointing.

Over an hour to get poor quality food

After 40 minutes I queried how long we would have to wait. The manager ignored me and a waitress answered. She then said another 15 minutes. The manager still didn't speak. In the end we waited over an hour to get food.

When it arrived mine looked like it had been cooked 40 minutes before everyone else.

We had all travelled over an hour to meet at a central location. A disappointing experience.
