Maiastru Double Bass. I recently bought this bass for my son. The service was excellent. We live at least a 3 hr drive away but Bass bags arranged to bring two basses to our house for us to try and keep overnight. This gave my son the opportunity to play both instruments for a decent amount of time. As soon as he tried the Maiastru he knew this was the one after months of searching. It looks great, easy to move around and the tone is deep, resonant and beautiful. Due to the set up by Bass bags, as well as sounding great, it is comfortable to play. Great bass and great service. Most unprofessional and rude customer service I've ever experienced. They sent us an item that was unfit for purpose but we had to cover the shipping return fee. We exchanged words with a completely irrational woman who was unbelievably rude. And they pride themselves for being a small family business!! Word of advice? Do your shopping in the string zone, where they clearly know how to treat customers.

I paid extra for a bass set up when buying a new bass. After I received it I informed the shop the action was far too high, 25mm on the E string. They told me I would have to pay extra for it to be set up properly. I had to take it to a Luthier to be set up, an extra £250

They sent a new but faulty soft case and expect me to take it back to the shop, a 140 mile round trip. They will not arrange collection or a courier which is contrary to law. Now they ignore my emails.

There are better shops out there with proper customer service

Debating whether to fit my own realist double bass pickup I phoned bass bags for advice. After a good 40min chat on the phone about options, and advice for fitting pickups I ordered the realist. Now fitted with the minimum of fuss, and sounding great. Very pleased. Great to be able to talk directly to luthier that fits the pickups, and know you have a great price and support if anything goes wrong.
