We needed a roof restoration for our Victorian terraced house which included new slate, parapet wall restoration, repointing of the chimney stack, and replacing rooflights with new Velux windows. The end result is fantastic and we are very pleased with the quality of the work. David and Lee from barl are straightforward and easy to work with. The team members doing the work were conscientious and hard working. If you need a new roof you can't go wrong with barl.

I had used BARL before for a furniture removal task but not for roofing. I had a small issue of a missing tile and was delighted that they not only considered that no job was too small but one of the directors, David, came to attend to it personally. The job, when we investigated further, required more work than anticipated but this was all handled with efficiency and charm and the charge was moderate for the time involved. This is a trustworthy, family-owned business and I recommend them.

We’ve previously had some bad experiences with a quite a few other roofers but when David from BARL came over, I knew that they were the right company for many different reasons. Not only did he quote me with the most practical solutions, he also filled me with great confidence. They made sure everything was covered/protected before work commenced. All workers were polite, tidy and professional. It is a family run business and they are honest, reliable and trustworthy. I would highly recommend them! BARL charge £180.00 (incl VAT) for a quote. I saw many good reviews on Checkatrade so, desperate for a roofer, I booked them to quote me for roof repairs. The owner of BARL said I needed a new roof, he didn't even check the attic space, just made a judgement from ground level. The quote was in excess of £39,000 (incl VAT), the property is a Victorian terrace. There was no negotiation on price and now I discover from a reputable roofer that my roof is sound, just in need of minor repairs.
The £180.00 I paid for an A4 templated quote is a complete scam but I feel I could have been further ripped off because with a roof you cannot see what may need fixing so you can only trust that the builder is honest.
