Extremely poor service

I was interested to discover from my tour operator about the service Bagsahead offer. As my wife and I are of advanced years we thought it would be a service that would avoid the need for us to handle our luggage on and off planes and trains on our holiday to Switzerland in June 2022.

I visited the Bagasahead website hoping to obtain a quotation for our needs. For reasons unknown, the website was unable to provide an on-line quotation but suggested sending an e-mail requesting a quotation. This I did, but a fortnight or so later and not having received any response from Bagsahead, I repeated the process. After another fortnight or so, and still having received no response, I telephoned Bagsahead, explained the situation and was promised a reply with a quotation "within a few days".

Again, total silence. So, I gave up. It made me wonder, if they were so incompetent when it came to giving me a quotation, how incompetent would be the service if I had chosen to use them? Where might my luggage have gone?

Good service and excellent…

Good service and excellent communications. There was a potential problem with our bags because of covid and lockdown but once explained to them they dealt with it sensibly and reasonably. I would use Bagsahead again.

Easily the worst investment

Easily the worst investment. Firstly the company did not send me the final document or luggage tags needed to book in my baggage collection, so despite numerous emails back and forth for weeks I took off work on the day I requested it to be collected (as they said the pickup could be anytime 9-5) and at 3:30 I called to double check they were coming. They said they did not have me on the books for collection. Luckily I wasn’t moving out of the house for a couple days and they scheduled the pickup for the following day. When I arrived in Spain, customs threatened to “destroy my bags” if I didn’t give them the required documentation of my residency (which is impossible to get within a month of arriving in the country.) I was not advised by DHL that this would be the case or I’d have just paid extra for excess baggage on my flight. When the bags finally arrived, the whole wheel was ripped off my brand new quality suitcase. If I’d have known this would be the process I would have never used this service.

Hi Chelsea, very sorry to hear of your negative experience with us, we take great pride in our service and we're really sorry that you have felt let down. There certainly was a miscommunication our side and your file had not been correctly set up for collection. No excuse but a very isolated, one off error on our part. We did of course jump straight to action once the issue was raised (as we should) and we apologise for the inconvenience. Customs clearance in European countries has become more complex post Brexit with customs on occasion asking for additional information than we normally supply as standard. The threat of destruction is just a generic message from customs that also includes multiple outcomes. We have never had any items destroyed and at worst, if clearance cannot be grated (very, very rare) then the items are returned to the point of origin. We certainly never let any shipment get anywhere near the destruction stage. Sorry to hear there was some damage to your case, this can of course happen in transit either via courier services or when checking cases in with airlines, we do recommend that protruding wheels etc are secured via packing tape as they can be vulnerable. We will review the costings on your file and come back to you separately as we are very disappointed that you are unhappy and want to at least offer you something to show our commitment and by way of apology.

Amazing from start to finish

We've recently used Bagsahead to ship a heavy bag to our holiday destination and back. Many companies will only transport boxes or suitcases, we were delighted to find that Bagsahead accept any kind of luggage at an incredibly competitive price. The whole process was incredibly swift and smooth, communication was excellent, and when we had slightly quirkier circumstances with the pick up at our holiday home, Bagsahead went out of their way to make sure everything could go as planned. We will definitely use them again and would highly recommend!!!

I have used Bagsahead on numerous occasions now and they are always reliable and get my bags to my destination ahead of me, safely and without issues. They know their onions - book with them and you won't regret it!

Great value, first class service

Impossible to improve perfection

Will use again

Excellent service. I Had my snowboard sent from the UK to Canada with bags ahead. The dimensions of my bag differed to the ones on the website so I emailed customer services for a bespoke price which was very competitive with other services I had been looking at. I was kept informed of the progress of my package at each stage and it arrived quickly and undamaged. Highly recommend using this company, I will use them again 100%
