Horrible service
Horrible service. In the main train station no place where to buy tickets, only way is to buy at a higher price on the bus. And if you don't have small change, you'll also have to get robbed at the train station cafeteria to get it.
Wrong Fare charge.
My spouse and I boarded the bus today at 7:26 PM from San Pablo B° Estació. We clearly informed the driver that we intended to get off just two stops later at CRTA.A2–Pegaso City. However, the driver behaved in an arrogant and rude manner, charging us €3 each in cash instead of the correct fare of €1.50. Additionally, the ticket issued listed the destination as Intercamb Av. América, which was incorrect.
When we attempted to clarify the situation before disembarking, the driver ignored our concerns and refused to engage, leaving us feeling harassed and unfairly treated. This experience was extremely disappointing and reflected a lack of consideration for non-Spanish-speaking passengers.
Bus Number: 9954 KYS
We hope the relevant authorities investigate this matter to prevent similar incidents in the future. Tourists should be cautious when using this bus service.
Pay for seat = stand up entire trip
If I could give negative stars I would…
They overbook their buses meaning that I had to stand up for 1H when I have PAYED for a specific seat. They have cheap price’s which lures customers but if you want to pay for a seat and not recieve it I would gladly recommend Avanza bus. I took the route from Estepona to Malaga airport, maybe the buses work elsewhere but definitely not here.
New Avanza services 2026
We are staying in Altea in March 2026 and have used the number 10 to go from Albir to Benidorm and the number 27 from Altea to La Nucia. We spoke to a very helpful fellow passenger who told us to buy a “tarjeta” for 12 Euros from the driver. This gives you the card and 10 Euros of credit. You can use 1 card for 2 people’s tickets. Each ticket costs .90 with the card. I put 4 stars because you have to be very careful you are on the right side of the road to go in the direction you want. We missed the first hourly bus to La Nucia we wanted to get from our preferred stop because we were waiting on the wrong side of the road. The buses did keep to the timetabled times and stopped at the expected stops. All in all very pleased with the new service.
Could be the worst company in history
Could be the worst company in history! The obviously doesn’t know how to program a website. They work hard to provide as little service as possible. Unfortunately this is the only company that drives certain routes so you have no choice.
Wrong information
I have been travelling all morning from Scotland. I checked the avanza buses to make sure I could use my contactless card which it said I could. Waited for an 40 minutes in the cold to be told I cannot use the contactless card and that I needed cash. I then managed to get cash inside the airport got back to the bus in time to then be ignored the female driver then went to the back of the bus and argued with another passenger came back to her driver's seat ignored me again then preceded to make a call. Finally took my cash and gave me my change in small note notes. To add to this it cost me €4.95 bank charges. Not a happy customer at all. Some start to my relaxing break
Never again ! Don’t use this bus (non) service
We took the bus from Benalmádena to Marbella. Very difficult to get information on the times or bus Numbers.
In Marbella (bus station Puya) we booked our tickets online and waited and waited … The bus didn’t come. We climbed 2 km in the rain to the bus station estacion where we learned our tickets were no longer valid ! We had to buy new tickets ! Very unfriendly too. Complaint form only in Spanish.
New bus at 18:00 hr was too late, no information whatsoever. Never again !!!
M220 to Marbella won’t stop
Ignorant M220 to Marbella 19.02hrs 03/09/25, drivers don’t stop at Capobino bus stop when people standing waving st bus stop.
Autostop would be Better!
An experience not to be repeated, autostop would be better.
Rude and with no humanity drivers.
Very disappointing! We will never use their service again.
I made a booking through Omnio website for a trip in Spain. Bus name: Avanza. We were there at the time scheduled, we actually arrived earlier and waited and waited, however, the scheduled bus never arrived. Another bus did stop, and we assumed it might be ours, so we presented our tickets. The driver informed us that our tickets were not valid for that bus. There was no other bus there and with time running out, we were forced to purchase two additional tickets. We purchased a cancellation policy at the time of buying the tickets, so we believed it would cover the issue that occurred. Unfortunately, it did not. We have spoken with Omnio, Xcover, and Avanza, and all of them have said that a refund is not possible. As a result, we ended up paying twice for the same tickets. It wasn't our fault, however, none of these companies are taking responsibility, as they should. Very disappointing! We will never use their service again.
Awful leg room
Leg room no good for anyone over 5 foot, a very uncomfortable 2 hours. Was on time and had air con though
Driver unhelpful - loud beeping
I ask the driver (who was on the bus) if there is a bathroom and he tells me that I can't know until I get on. Now I am on the bus and there is a constant beeping sound every 4 seconds and I have to pee. A dreadful experience.
Ignorant Bus Driver Rejects Service Dog Compliance
I have a service dog. I contacted Avanza in advance asking all the questions because this is not my first rodeo with any form of transportation and a service dog. I was confirmed to ride with my service dog outside of a carrier at my feet as is expected of service dogs. When I arrived at the bus I was vehemently dismissed by the bus driver before I could say a word. He repeatedly points to the bag area under the bus and states to put the dog in a bag. I don't know if he's telling me to put him in the baggage area in a bag so passenger bags can topple over him or simply to put him in a bag. I showed him the email confirmation from an Avanza representative and repeatedly stated the words Service Dog and Assistance dog in spanish. He continued to deny me access to the bus. Then told me to go speak with the agent. There was a line of about 5 people in front which would allow me no time to sort this out and make the bus so I left the line and walked back to the bus. After now loading the entire bus in front of me while this "discussion" was taking place I then walked myself straight on the bus with the knowledge that he was in the wrong due to his ignorance and refusal to accept the approval by Avanza. An agent walks on the bus and we have some kind of conversation about it and I'm not sure it's clear I just know the bus takes off. This took place in Spain and I speak little to no spanish except "perro de servicio/ asistencia" and google translations. About 20 mins in to the ride when I believe all is well, me and my dog are settled and he is lying at my feet. The bus driver stops the bus and walks over to rehash this matter. Mid trip!! He has waited for this time to basically threaten calling the police on me (in spanish). I am chastised by passengers who don't know or understand the situation. I am then forced to put a certified service dog in a carrier!!! After making it to my destination, I then had to ride Avanza on the return, thankfully with a different driver. When I tell you the two could not have been more night and day. At this point I had spoken with the agent at the station about the prior incident providing the approval from Avanza whom then spoke to the driver on my behalf. When it was time to load I simply got on the bus no questions asked and had a peaceful ride. After the ride, I made sure to report this to Avanza responding to the same email with their verified approval for my service dog to ride as a service dog should at my feet. I explained the entire situation and the aggressive, dismissive, verbally abusive and albeit discriminatory experience from the first bus driver. They talk with the bus driver whom has skewed and downplayed the entire incident. Their response gives insight as to why they have a faulty system. This is despicable treatment and a horrible first time experience! They need to properly train and educate their drivers on their accessibility policies and on how to professionally conduct themselves on the job.
Extremely rude bus driver from La Zenia…
Extremely rude bus driver from La Zenia to Alicante on 3:30pm bus route . Will never use service again. Terrible experience.
Avoid Avanza at all cost!
Avanza is probably the worst coach company I have used. I booked an online ticket from Malaga Airport to Marbella, waited at the bus stop for my coach to arrive. A couple of coaches arrived, however, the drivers said they were not stopping at Marbella. I proceeded to wait 30mins after my coach was due to arrive, with staff telling me I have missed it! You would think being at Malaga airport, it would be better organised, but it is not, a complete shambles. I'll be sure never to use this coach company in the future and give my money to another, or pay more for the comfort of a taxi. Avoid Avanza at all costs!
Absolutely terrible and ridiculous…
Absolutely terrible and ridiculous system at Bilbao airport. Cannot book online when you land and the machines don’t work 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This company is clearly run by terribly incompetent people.
DANGEROUS DRIVING!!
Most of the reviews on this site seem to be about the rudeness of the drivers. That is bad, there appears to be zero level of customer service training.
However, there is nothing worse than if public transport is DANGEROUS! Lives are at stake when drivers driver without care and attention. On 9th January at 16:56 a driver of Green line 01 bus (registration number 4417MMY) drover on a narrow country road (old service road) on route from La Linea, San Roque to collect students at the stop adjacent to San Roque Golf Club. The road has a tolerance of 60 kph. He drove at approximately 110 kph, faster than he is allowed to drive on major roads throughout Spain! He passed my car and disappeared out of sight, round bends, crossing the white lines, I finally caught up with him and took his registration number when he stopped to allow a lot of students on the bus. This bus driver could be traced but Avanza make it impossible to complain. I have made 4 telephone calls but they don't answer the phone. I have complained on their complaint form but it is designed only for those wanting to congratulate them! These drivers have no concern whatsoever for the safety of their passengers but remian employed. Next time I see this, I shall take the information to the Guardia Civil who DO take dangerous driving seriously! Avoid Avanza buses. It seems you are more at risk than if you thumb a lift with a complete stranger!
Fuengirola bus station staff are the rudest with 0 customer service skills
I am an expat living in Malaga but mainly use the bus routes from Fuengirola to get about the coast as that is the last stop on the train.
I can honestly say in all my years of travelling to multiple countries I have never came across such rude staff or drivers as that from Fuengirola bus station. The drivers are all miserable and rude. Anytime I have had to go into the bus station which is always packed outside and buy tickets the staff there are unhelpful, rude and look at one like they are something they stepped in. One lady in particular with dark hair is so rude I honestly do not know how she keeps her job. If it was anywhere else but there I can only imagine she would be sacked. But because they are all unfriendly, rude and unprofessional it seems that's the acceptable level of customer service for Avanza. I have started using bolt and uber rather than suffer.
Bus driver forget to give us change so…
Bus driver forget to give us change so we reached him at the end of the trip, when everybody left and he wasn't driving anymore. He was sure he gave us proper change and said we should have reached him earlier while driving (?!?!?) We left leaving him with our money. It would be cheaper to rent a car next time.
