The only people that will get in contact with you are bots and scammers. Do not use if you are an independent seller. Terrible. Message after messasge just a complete waste of time.

Every potential buyer for my car was a scammer.

Only scammers contacting me. No legit buyers. I have sold several cars in the past, but would avoid at all costs now. Auto Trader has gone down hill.

Overall, I had a positive experience selling my car through AutoTrader. I ultimately sold it for close to my asking price, and having AutoTrader handle the payment and title-transfer portions of the transaction made the final sale feel secure and straightforward.

The main downside was having to sort through a couple of weeks of scammers before serious buyers appeared. Most either wanted me to purchase a vehicle-history report from a questionable website or tried to move the conversation off the AutoTrader platform. I also found the messaging feature in the AutoTrader app to be a little glitchy at times, which made communicating with potential buyers more frustrating than it needed to be.

Once I connected with a legitimate buyer, however, the process worked very well. Despite the early aggravation, the secure transaction support and final selling price made AutoTrader worthwhile. The next time I sell a car, I be starting with AutoTrader.

This was a painless way to sell a car. Using your service to handle paperwork and payments was easy and customer service was helpful on the two occasions we had to call.

First time using this as a buyer or seller (was buyer this time) and the experience was fairly seamless and professional. Lots of good e-mail and text communications throughout the process and it felt "safe/secure". I would recommend this method especially if selling/buying a car that is more than a few thousand bucks.

I generally like to buy my cars cash. And I've found a couple of good ones dealing with Private Sellers on AutoTrader. You can trust that even on the PS market you're less likely to find a lemon, especially if you do your research. Plus PS tend to be more flexible in pricing.

The only offers I received after several months of having an active ad were scams - and there were plenty of those. However, Autotrader itself kept offering to buy my car at more than $10,000 below market value. I sold my car within just a few weeks of listing it on Facebook Marketplace for my full asking price (the same price as I had it listed on AutoTrader. I wasted time addressing the spam offers and money running the ad.

Worst place ever to list a car. All contacts were scams trying to sell vehicle reports. Spam spam and more spam

I paid $49 to list here, it's been listed for approximately a week and eight out of eight replies are spammers I can get that for free listening on Facebook marketplace

Fast, good customer support, easy to follow instructions

Autotrader was successful with selling my car. I could not sell it locally, your national exposure is what made it happen. For that, I am appreciative.

This was our third transaction with this company and they are superb to work with. Always very quick and couteous with either online or telephone support. Just a great company and a pleasure to do business with!

If you try to sell a vehicle as a private seller, literally 100% of your prospective buyers will be scammers trying to steal your money. Oh, and you get to PAY Autotrader for this non-refundable "service." Absolutely don't do it.

Seamless and was awesome actually talking to American customer service agents. One of the best ways ever to buy or sell you car!

Autotrader’s process was incredibly smooth from start to finish. Once I received an offer from a buyer, the next steps were clear, and the communication was excellent throughout the entire process. I also really liked that the platform allowed me to add a video to my listing. Overall, an A+ experience—I would definitely use Autotrader again!

The clear communication, and timely closing of my sale

Autotrader provides prompt and live customer service - a win in my book. However, within one week of running an ad, I received only phishing and fraudulent inquiries. Repeatedly. Block and Report. The spammers are so convincing that it is difficult to know who to trust. The experience feels stressful and, frankly, violating when you feel like you are talking to a real person who is interested in your vehicle. Perhaps others don't feel so negatively about phishing and fraud these days, since it is rampant, but if we don't fight harder against it, they are winning. We should NOT feel like being spammed is a normal part of doing business. I would rather sell my car for less and save my sanity and safety.
