RUN AWAY FAST FROM AUTOKEEPERS!!!!!!!

Received a responce to my request on oneflare for my car to be checked for issues for RWC.
The mechanic said to bring it in to him and he would check it fro free.

Once I got there, I explained my situation and was not sure if it would pass roadworthy,
I told him to do a sevice IF it passes roadworthy.

Quote came back with $3600 in repairs for a swift that had 300k on it and has damage on the front end.

I told him that I would be selling the car as it won't be worth keeping at that price..... he responds with "you can actually sell it for about 5k"

I don't know how he came up with that figure when the car has major sunbrun and damages to it as well as a missing radio.

When I went to pick up the car he was charging me for the RWC and the service...... I complained about why he did the service when I said to do it IF it passes a RWC, he said that i requested it..... which is false as clearly, anyone with a brain can see that theres no point in getting it since its not going to be registered by me at all.

I payed the service at almost $200
I paid for a permit there and back at $65 each way = $130

Total I ended up forking out for this headache was over $300!

How is 145/hr justified????

On the quote he was charging me as a thief would steal from a blind person

Replace a parker light bulb = $17.50

Air filter = $60
+ Labour = $29!!!!! for a simple 30 second job!!!

Spark plugs = $22.50 each = $90 for all 4!!!
plus 1 hr of labour = $145!!!!

That is $235 for spark plugs!!!!!
W T F ?????

There is more work on the quote but this is clearly exploiting the publics ignorace at its max!!!

I know how much time it takes to change spark plugs because I have done this myself at home, I know they are cheap as I buy them from super cheap auto under $10 each.... the current ones in it I replaced myself when I bought the car 3yrs ago and has driven between 60 to 70k now.

Never have I heard of $145/hour for labour for a mechanic...... sure, maybe the diesel mechanics may charge this........ in the middle of nowhere!!

But Bowen Hills, being in the city I expecred much better.

It's my first and last time dealing with them, I won't be recommending them to anyone and neither is there anything good to say about them.

RUN AWAY FAST!!!!

Customer Service is always great

Customer Service is always great; however, prices appear to be getting less competitive. I've been going there long enough for them to know the type of customer I am and that my car is old, so I care less about genuine, best or new parts as I run it to the ground. Three other mechanic workshops all came in $400 cheaper than AutoKeepers for brake rotors, pads and fluid and that was without showing any quotes to them. They also had good customer service. AutoKeepers were the clear outlier in this instance.

I'd love to continue being loyal and recommending AutoKeepers to my network, my feedback is that it's becoming more difficult when I have to come back with quotes from elsewhere often or bring it up with them. I feel it should be something they just get right in the first instance nowadays given the frequency I come in about my car and length of time I have been a customer. It's a bit awkward to raise it with them now without sounding like the "annoying customer." I hate to be that person but it does feel good to be remembered "this person's needs are this..." A little price difference is expected, and I don't mind it given the service output, but not at a $400 difference (I assume it's due to the parts quoted).

I think it's really important to 'know your customer' and of late have begun feeling as though they don't look after me as much as when I first started going there but I am probably one of their customers that recommend them the most.

Otherwise, all great things to be said about the business and highly recommend.
