Authorhouse is reliable and Professional
The company has the details of publishing down to a "T". They have all of the bases covered and are able to nurse a novice writer through the complex process.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I can't say enough bad things about this company. I am considering taking them to court it's been that bad. STAY AWAY
Annie Barrete was so Patient with me :)
Annie Barrete was thoughtful, genuine, patient, and best of all so friendly. This makes a huge difference to a first timer. So happy with Authorhouse! Wouldn't mind working for them.
Customer service is horrible
Customer service is horrible. I could never get through to the person I was trying to contact and had to wait for an email. I was told at the initial contact that bookmarks and cards would be a part of my package like they were provided with the last book I published with author house, then after the book was complete I was told that was never an option. I had to email Jose in marketing 3 times, before finally receiving a reply! I asked that a supervisor contact me regarding the bookmarks and I have heard nothing! This is the third and possibly last book I ever publish with Author house! Staff, customer service etc...used to be top notch! That is no longer the case!
I read the five-star reviews and wonder…
I read the five-star reviews and wonder if there are two different publishers called AuthorHouse. I could write a thousand words and still not convey just how bad an experience I had. For an extended period, AH staffers did not answer emails or answer my questions. The few people who finally did respond told me different (often contradictory) things, and each new “thing” was to cost anywhere from $1000 to $5000 in addition to the $5000+ I paid initially. I came to disbelieve anyone’s praise because it was always coupled with spending more. Marketing was the worst. As a traditionally published author of 7 books, I had hopes of finding readers for my novel. I spent over $10K at AH for marketing and I do not believe it led to any sales. I am a person of some means so I could absorb the cost but I hate to think of an author of limited resources cajoled into wasting money as I did. I would never consider engaging AH again, or recommend it to anyone.
AuthorHouse is the best!
AuthorHouse was fantastic to work with! This was my first time publishing a book, and they were so patient and kind while they guided me through the process. I couldn't believe how quickly I received my books! I can't wait to publish again with AuthorHouse!

From start to finish everyone and everything that Author House helped Paul Cabell self publish his first book 📖 was greatly appreciated. They were very informative and professional in
with handling everything that was needed to complete my book "God Is First & #1" for the Ministry. Paul highly recommend any up & coming new authors to use Author House Publishing for their books too. Thanks 😊.

everyone I have dealt with has been helpful and I have found your company to be reliable and trustworthy. I am very happy that you have helped me to publish and fulfil my dream
Not a pleasant experience
My heavens! I have just spent quite a time with this company to try and sort out publishing my book. The cost was quite a bit and I felt too much so they then came up with a much reduced cost BUT would not allow me to go away and think about it - the hard sell technique was applied to a ridiculous extent. They even said that I could not be serious about publishing and accused me of wasting their time!!!
A first-class organization
Everyone I dealt with was professional in their conduct. I always received quick responses, encouragement, and helpful information.
My experience with Author house was a profoundly exploitative one.
Run. Away. From. Author house. Run as fast as you can. My experience with Author house was a thoroughly disappointing and painful one. It was is all about money for them. There is no face to the business. Just numerous calls to expand services and pay more money. I only communication with someone called Homer Florez which I doubt is a real name. The editorial assessment of my book was just a ruse to keep me paying money in instalments like a telemarketing scam. No value added. When I eventually realized their con, it was radio silence. I want to say I'm grateful I decided to terminate the agreement but I still feel violated.
AuthorHouse has very competently…
AuthorHouse has very competently produced our book, and has fulfilled its contractual obligations to post its sales information to the designated sales sites. But as the customer, I felt I had to chase information from among the half-dozen or so staffers who handled different aspects of design, production, marketing, manufacturing and distribution. No single staffer is assigned to the client who would then be responsible for providing all information. And I’ve more than once been made to feel that I was being a bother for asking questions.
So many delays
So many delays. Poor communication. Been waiting four days for a single email reply to correct an issue with my front cover.
I will not be using them again.
This first volume had a bit of a rough…
This first volume had a bit of a rough start. I needed to rewrite it several times in order to pass protocol standards. And the cost was more than I anticipated to launch this book - the size mandated splitting it into multiple volumes, which added to the cost factor. That said, working with the various departments at AuthorHouse was not difficult, and the finished product, I'm pleased with. I still am unsure as to whether I'll recapture the investment, only time will tell. I imagine Author House has a rule, not to encourage authors by praising their book ahead of time, or even encouraging authors too much, as this could easily backfire - however, this is one thing I would like to see them change a bit. Even if the book is not that great - a little encouragement goes a long way, especially with a first-time author, and I've received none that I remember to date from anyone at AurhorHouse. I'm not talking about "hey - this thing's a hit" or "I've never read anything better"; but, just something simple like "this book has some good thoughts" or "I can tell you put a lot of effort into this work". Again, words of encouragement mean everything to first-timers like me - who aren't even sure they qualify as bonafide "authors" at this point! Anyway, let's just say I'm testing the waters with AuthorHouse. The publishing had a few hiccups, but all in all it went well and the book is out. I'm pushing for volume two at the moment, which should really tell if things are going in the right direction.
Keep Control of Your Work
I needed a professional publisher that would allow me to retain complete control of the work. AuthorHouse filled the bill and exceeded my expectations!

I Can't Reach Anyone When I Need To
It's hard to reach people. There doesn't seem to be anyone who I can reach out to when I don't hear back from someone I'm supposed to be communicating with.
