Convenient but concerning collection…

Convenient but concerning collection practices:

Atome is easy to use and provides convenient access to credit, similar to a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) service rather than a traditional bank-issued credit card regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

However, based on my experience, the collection practices are concerning. I received repeated calls, sometimes multiple times a day and from different numbers, even after I already responded to their reminders, explained my situation, and acknowledged my obligation.

While I fully intend to pay my dues, the frequency and manner of communication felt excessive and stressful. Compared to traditional credit cards from banks, the approach to collections seems less regulated and more aggressive.

Atome may be useful for short-term credit, but users should be aware of how communication and collections are handled before using the service.

Atome-Low Accountability in Refunds w regards to Fraudulent Merchants

Similar to what other recent users have shared, Atome has Low Accountability & Efficiency in settling its company’s Fraudulent Transactions’ Refunds. Despite emailing their 1 & Only given S u p p o r t@a t o m e.s g Electronic mail channel & communicating with their partner merchant Dorra Slimming Pte Ltd for way more than 2 months(please see email screenshots since 17Jan 2026,19:09)within 10 min after the fraudulent Bank transaction, Refunds & Immediate Termination of such fraudulent deals have yet to be processed Efficiently & Effectively as of 4th April 2026 & it was just a long-haul, cruel Taichi太极 game between both merchants’(Atome & Dorra Slimming Pte Ltd) & me alone-with both merchants displaying dishonesty, much irresponsibility to Terminate this fraudulent business transaction of almost 1k of my salary. To fellow younger Singaporeans, please Never Click on Any links related to Atome.sg especially those sent by WhatsApp Advertising Merchants-like Dorra Slimming. Atome.sg BNPL is definitely a High-end Investment Scam. 1click could cost u thousands of dollars that Atome will Never bother to Refund in time, especially despite Multiple Emails written to their 1 & only Support Email account. I have lodged a Police report via the SPF & CASE, & all I can say is that this company is way worser than a Credit Card loan company in terms of Credibility. It does Not care How/Why/Whose Money is banked via its Platform for BNPL even if the Merchant is a Scam Company, it just wants to make money through ANY transactions using Atome as a New mode of payment.(I was an Atome member for less than 1 month.) Such businesses lack Foresight in Ethics & largely Manipulates & Encourages consumers’ Greed in Unsustainable Consumption by using Consumers’ Auto-filling Banking Credentials to work in favour of its BNPL policies,WITHOUT practical consideration of Users’ Informed Consent & Third-party merchants’ Disengagement of services, hence it does Not permit any refunds once U use this Mode of Payment. This is akin to any Investment Scam, as once u locked your bank card details in your Atome account, your $$ May automatically be deducted for Unverified reasons,REGARDLESS Services have been Verified to be provided between their 3rd Party partnering merchants & consumers. This is the honest truth everyone should know about.
My solution: Out of exasperation, I had to terminate my Bank Card to stop Atome’s Monthly Fraudulent Automatic Deductions, yes, after that accidental click. Guess what? Atome still had to send me notifications for further ‘repayments’ & ‘Overdue’ payments + Repeated Harassment via Phone callings & Emails. I have since reported these fraudulent transactions & Harassment with CASE & SPF, since emailing both merchants throughout the 2+months have been Ineffective & Exhausting with their AI Templated Replies(Specifically for 无良商家Atome.sg), as documented in the evidence of screenshots.
So please rmb, Refunds are Never given for Atome BNPL transactions, even if Products/Services promised to be delivered are Non-Existent. please think Thrice before you engage with Atome BNPL Payment mode. 自古以來,在商言商,商不厌诈。

Unfair Debt Collection Practices and Consumer Rights Violations
I’ve decided not to pay my bills with them in advance anymore. They’re quick to chase payments when they’re due but fail to appreciate customers with a strong payment history. Moreover, their debt collection practices are unjust and harassing—calls are nonstop regardless of the time or day of the week. This violates several consumer protection laws, including Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) for excessive and unauthorized disclosure of personal information, as well as Republic Act No. 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines) for unfair debt collection practices. Additionally, their actions may also be in violation of SEC Memorandum Circular No. 18, Series of 2019, which regulates unfair debt collection harassment, including excessive calls, threats, and public shaming.

The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service ever. I placed an order in store by scanning their QR code and the payment went through without me clicking anything else. To my surprise they subscribed me without my consent on an insurance company for a monthly payment ( again , I had zero knowledge and I never gave my consent during the purchase process )
After receiving the email of the insurance company ( Chubb ) welcoming me as a new client I started a journey of emails and chats coming back and forth both with Atome and Chubb. They never provided a solution or refund , and they can’t give my any proof of me signing and policy or subscription.
I managed to cancel the policy through the Atole App by myself but no one is going to be responsible for the refund of the amount I have been charged by Chubb Insurance. A SCAM altogether.

From Loyalty to Disappointment – Atome Is Failing Its Best Customers

I’ve been using Atome for years with a near-perfect repayment history — early payments, no defaults, and only one minor delay which was immediately resolved. Yet despite this, I now face frequent, humiliating payment failures not just online (Agoda), but also at retail stores and boutiques.

The app keeps rejecting transactions, asking me to link a credit card (which I don’t have), even though my debit card has always worked before. I’ve tried everything — switching cards, reducing purchase amounts, trying different merchants — and still no success. Some error messages even tell me to “try again after 90 days” or to link a credit card, as if I’ve defaulted — which I haven’t.

To make matters worse, I pay $2.50/month for the Atome Shopping Secure policy, and yet it does nothing to prevent this embarrassing situation at store counters. Imagine standing at a boutique, card declined, being treated like a defaulter in front of staff and other customers. It's beyond frustrating — it's unacceptable.

Customer service has been unhelpful and dismissive, offering template responses and refusing to escalate to someone who can take ownership of the issue. After everything I’ve invested in this platform — trust, time, money — this is how I’m treated?

Atome, your system is broken. Your treatment of responsible users is insulting. Fix your system, fix your customer service, and stop punishing your most loyal users. Until then, I’ll be warning others to think twice before relying on your app.

Worse ever services

Worse ever services. Worst ever installment company ever. Late payment within a day already charged the interest fee of SGD15. Didn't give a chance for a few days for people to settle the payment. Once you have a record of paying late fee, the next time you not able to make installment payment such as Agoda. I tried to book Agoda using Atome, but they don't allow, they said try 90 days later. WTH!!! I srsly don't recommend this ATOME. Useless, i want to quickly finish my wateva installment i have w them and i won't use it anymore. I prefer Shoppee then Atome. Useless....

Ineffective Customer Service on Fraud Issue

I barely got any response on my fraud issue in my card. I had to reach out to the merchant in order to get my refund.

There was an unauthorized transaction in my physical card and they were not able to help me out on the matter. CS only reached out to me twice and did nothing.

Before all that, I have a great experience because I get to increase my credit limit almost 3x in just 5 months.

No issues other than mentioned above since I always pay my debt before due date.

Terrible UI

Honestly the interest is not the best. On top of that, the UI made it really hard for me to figure out the actual limit that I can use. Not only that there are zero reminders so I need to be really on the ball om checking the deadlines, which is not realistic if I'm very busy with my schedule. Please make the UI UX a bit more simple and intuitive.

Rejected for no reason. I was rejected for no reason whatsoever. My first payment failed with an error and reached out to their service. But alas after 3 days dragging they rejected.

PLEASE HARD AVOID THIS COMPANY

PLEASE HARD AVOID THIS COMPANY. After-sales customer support at Atome is absolutely atrocious. Made the mistake of paying with it once and I’m still dealing with the repercussions. They have intentionally made it as hard as possible to contact them for any payment-related disputes, and do not offer any proper phone lines. FOR YOUR SANITY, PLEASE USE GRAB PAYLATER OR ANY OTHER SERVICE. Developer responses are intentionally vague so as to prevent liability.
