Fabulous moisturisers but don’t clear eczema
Update: I had the calm balm lying around that I hadn’t used much and went back to it a year later, and this time around it really did help smooth my rough patches. So I went back and got the scrub, and it’s beautiful too, love that it’s an oil. So I’m actually going to go back to these and use the oil in the morning, the balm at night (it’s really thick and feels like putting lip balm all over my face so not great for morning for my combination skin) with the scrub once a week. They’re expensive but the ingredients are fantastic and they make my skin feel like velvet.
As a luxury range of moisturisers I would give 5 stars, as both the illuminate oil and the calm cream feel lovely on the skin, great sustainable packaging and soothing for sensitive skin. But the product markets itself as a miracle cure for medical skin conditions and my experience is that it simply isn’t. My eczema and dermatitis on my upper lip and nose creases and behind my ears are still very much present after a few months using this. Lips and nose and ears still scaly and cracking. So while the products don’t aggravate it, they don’t clear the issue. I refuse to keep using steroids as it clears for a week then it’s back so it’s a never ending cycle.
So for gentle moisturisers the price point for me is just too high and after I finish these I’ll go back to my big bottles of Avene, La Roche Posay or good old cetaphil. They are soothing and also designed with these skin conditions in mind with a more sustainable price point for me, even if less luscious. I do like apothecary products a lot. If more affordable would probably keep using.
So in summary the products are lush, feel like velvet on the skin, but for me don’t live up to their claims of eradicating stubborn skin conditions like eczema or dermatitis so ultimately too expensive for me for what they are. Worth a shot though if you have the money as other reviews say they work wonders, just be prepared for them not to magically clear your skin.
