The app is intentionally bad

The app is bad. It didn't register my parking and I got clamped later. When I appealed with evidence, they replied with usual scripted response.
By reading other reviews, it seems like they are aware of this issue and not fixing it as works in their favour. The call centre agent was also aware of this issue but said, call us to make a payment next time.
This is a company built on scamming people for money and wasted time with clamping.

Selling information not parking?

It seems to me that APCOA is not actually selling parking but instead is harvesting data. I wonder why? I had my credit card ready to pay for parking and had the code for the car park and my car registrstion and yet it took 15 minutes of endlessly entering and reentering personal information to pay €1.45 for one hour's parking. Standing in the freezing cold, on crutches, in pain, while trying to pay for parking seemed to me to be both a nasty and luducrious way to treat the public. I was reduced to tears of frustration and grief at being old and marginalised by our society's making even the simplest activities like parking into a series of almost impossibly painful hurdles.

There is an issue with the Apcoa app…

There is an issue with the Apcoa app and Revolut. WARNING - if you pay for parking with revolut, despite confirming the payment in the app, it doesn't seem to complete the payment or process the parking with Apcoa. I came back to my car being clamped

Similar to others

Similar to others. Contacted customer service as my car had been clamped. I had verified using the strong customer Authentication payment workflow.
But apparently revolut apcoa reject payments intermittently without informing users. Apcoa team can see the payment attempts but their policy is we dont do customer service, take it up with your bank.
Sound bunch.

Clamped due to their crap app

Their crap app had a glitch and didn't confirm my payment, but my bank account was charged anyway, so not surprisingly I had my car clamped.

Even after providing irrefutable evidence it was their fault, the simply said there were no records of payment on their systems, hence the clamp was correct.

Their looks like scam, developed for the first versions of android in early 2000's by a totally unexperienced intern and they clearly don't care.

I have even deleted my account and will never park there anymore.

Con Artists Avoid

Con Artists - Avoid

Paid for Parking at Shelbourne Park Carpark on Saturday. When Got there, was all locked up. There was a queue of cars so obviously a lot of people had paid for parking. No one there - no sign up to explain and still have my and veryone elses money - absolute shambolic company.

When I went in to Shelbourne Park race track - they were equally rude and unhelpful - exact words - not our problem - Apcoa were supposed to let their customers know so Not my problem.

Drove over from Galway and left stranded. Disgusting company

🚨 Clamped Despite Paying for Parking!

🚨 Clamped Despite Paying for Parking!

My car was clamped even though I paid for parking. I have proof of payment — the receipt from the app — and even the person who came to clamp the car acknowledged that I had paid but told me my payment wasn’t valid for today.

Last night at 22:41, I paid for a day of parking with APCOA which cost me €8. This evening I realised my car had been clamped. I approached the worker and he told me I had not paid. He told me my payment was only valid until 23:59 last night. This means I paid €8 for an hour of parking which typically costs €2.50. I pointed it out to him that there’s no other option on the app for me to choose and he dismissed me. Every other option transfers into the next day but not the 1 day payment as seen in my video.

But he told me:

“There’s nothing I can do. You have to call the number on the windscreen.”

So I called. And what did they say?
“You still have to pay the penalty and then appeal it.”

Seriously? Even with clear evidence that the payment was made?
This is not right. It looks like a glitch in the system, and I shouldn’t be penalised for it.

Trying to use the APP was a nightmare!

Trying to use the APP was a nightmare!! I have used it in the past without issue but this day nothing worked! I added a friends car to my account and tried to pay for parking at McDonagh Car Park, Kilkenny. The APP wouldn't accept my card?! Don't know why becuase it was the same one used previously. Anyhow, I decided to go another route and add funds to the account and then the APP closed down!! When I got back it it had closed the account taken €5.00 from me to close it and left a balance of €5.00 on it that I couldn't access. I have contacted the relevant email address for a refund and they have only refunded the balance of €5.00! Why has it cost me €5.00 for nothing??? The excuse was that the system automatically takes €5.00 when you close the account!! Disgusting system............ Two questions now: 1. What would happen if there wasn't €5.00 on the account and 2. Why am I being charged for an APP that didn't work!! I never closed the account the APP closed down itself on the day. I still havent got the money back into my bank yet and I want the full amount of €10 not the balance of €5.00!!

Wrongfully Clamped Despite Active Permit – Conflicting Info and 21-Day Wait for APCOA Response

My vehicle was clamped by APCOA even though I have a valid virtual permit that, according to their own system, is active until February 2026. The clamping notice claimed I didn’t have a valid permit — which is completely false.
When I contacted APCOA, they told me my permit expired on the 28th — yet their website still lists my vehicle as covered by an active virtual permit. This contradiction highlights serious system failure or mismanagement, for which I was unfairly penalised.

After submitting my appeal with clear evidence, APCOA’s system informed me that I must now wait up to 21 days to receive a response. This is an unreasonably long time to wait for resolution on a complaint caused by their own error.
The stress, cost, and inconvenience caused by this mistake and slow response process are unacceptable. If APCOA cannot manage permit records accurately, they should not enforce clamping penalties.

I will update this review depending on how APCOA resolves my appeal — but so far, this experience reflects poor communication and a lack of customer care.

Worst Car Park Management company EVER!

Where to start??? I spent hours finding the closest car park to the area I needed to go and kept stumbling upon APCOA and the price was decent for the couple of hours I needed to leave the car to join an event (Job search related event) - Traveled all the way from Cork with family and friends, happy for our upcoming event, left the car to the car park only to return 2 hours later to find it CLAMPED!

Signage in the car park was unclear, where we left the car there was not a sign indicating we shouldnt leave the car there - we innicently assumed that since we paid online and since no obvious signage saying otherwise, we could leave the car there - There was not any agents present so we could ask either.

I tried to reason with them only to be shouted at on the phone by their calling centre agent who doesn't know what "manners" means - I paid the 125 eur fee and appealed to have it refunded as I could justify the mistake and the lack of clear signage with videos and photos - They came back to say that the enforcing officer had sent a photo showing that the area I parked was for permit holders only - This sign was 2 - 3 spaces further down than where I left the car and at the time I parked there were cars parked infront, so there was NO WAY I could walk on these cars only to read a sign that wasn't visible from where I had parked!!!! Insane!!!

I then proceeded to appeal with NTA and they also confirmed that the clamp decision was accurate as per enforcing officers report - I had no words to express my dissapointment.

I have been 125 eur out of pocket, and at a time that I am struggling financially. I was hoping to get a refund as I counted on this amount - No empathy from anyones side, no respect and recognition of a genuine mistake that wouldnt happen if signs were clear and visible - Ripping people off, very sneaky organization and will NEVER EVER park again in a parking area managed by this company!!!

Imagine that I spent so much time finding a paid car park for my peace of mind - thinking that I had paid for parking and wanted to avoid experiencing any unpleasant surprises as I have only been few times in Dublin and not familiar with the area - Very little I have known. :( The worst thing was that our day was ruined completely by this event, and spent over 2 hours on the phone and then wait for the person who could remove the clamp, who by the way admitted there used to be clear signs that were washed off by the rain and never replaced... The irony!!!

Targeting parents at toddlers football…

Targeting parents at toddlers football - says it all about this scam of a company. Incredibly rude "enforcement agent" arrives 10 mins after the event starts. Unclear signage in car park - sign was knocked down by the storm. Leaves parents sitting for 2 hours then waiting to be released. Horrible company, horrible people, horrible practices.

Lack of common sense

Review realtes to Apcoa in general. Vehicle was clamped as I inadvertently entered the incorrect reg on ticketing machine at Red Cow Luas carpark. I had a ticket so just assumed that common sense would prevail once I appealed and showed them the ticket. Their response just confirmed that zero consideration was given to this and the appeal was effectively a waste of time. I probably wasn't off the phone a minute after paying when coincidentally an Apcoa van appeared (and they hung around quite some time after). I have appealed to the NTA and hopefully they have a more common sense approach. Would be extremely reluctant to ever park in a carpark operated by this company again.

Rip off company

Joined APCOA for parking. Please note, I don't park my car in Jervis Street. Couldn't find APCOA IE on Trustpilot. It costs me more to park my car through APCOA, more than paying at a pay station. Also, you get charged by APCOA when you don't use your account for such a time. Decided to cancel my account and charged 5euro to cancel the account. Rip off artists. Don't use these guys

Tried to park in there carpark in Mass…

Tried to park in there carpark in Naas, Kildare beside Tesco. Machine out of order, I rang to ask how to pay was told to go onto the website or park elsewhere. My location was not on the website so I could not pay rang back and was told to just park elsewhere that I would be clamped. Even though I had tried all means, asked if there was anything in place to allow for when this happens and was told no go elsewhere or you will be clamped. Spoke to two people, rude and not helpful. Will avoid this company at all costs. Very unfriendly and unhelpful

Zero stars

Zero stars. This company is a con. I booked a parking space in advance and arrived at the site to find no spaces available. I lost my money. Tried to contact the company….still waiting to hear back from them. Please avoid. I should have read the reviews before I booked. My experience was at the APCOA parking site at Southend on Sea. Apcoa

Apcoa - Clamped my car even though I paid. I appealed and had proof of the payment going out of my account. I use the same car park for the same train every day. They charged me €120. I am in the process of escalating complaint to the governing authority. Aside from the fact I actually paid!... to charge €120 fine for a car park, which is never full on the far suburbs of Dublin is an absolute disgrace. Many people use that train to get to the Mater hospital. These people are preyed upon by this unethical disgusting company.

Opportunistically prey on people

I'd give then 0 stars if possible. They have clamped my car, driven by my wife while taking our toddler to an appointment in a health institution WITHIN THE 10 MINUTE GRACE PERIOD. The clamper was taking pictures of the car and license plate even before the ticket had expired. When she arrived at the car he was still issuing the ticket. She suffers from a Life Long Health Condition and was walking with a 3 yo. MONEY GRABBERS.
