Unsafe room

The photos of the room is nowhere near the room that was given to me. It was in poor condition, run down, unsafe and my daughter got locked in the bathroom due to the door handle. Not worth the money. I booked the room for 14nights, next morning I left. Property Management verbally said that he will give approval for refunds. 3wks later he changed his mind. Very frustrating

Health and safety risk, cockroaches on beds

Booked a week in advance, the company provided details of how to get to the location as well as access details 24hrs prior to arrival. This was helpful and they also called the day before to confirm the booking.
In Earls Court, Kensington, it's central location was ideal to get to attractions and very close to the tube station.
On walking to the hotel there were also plenty of food places and pubs within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
However the hotel itself was extremely disappointing and actually shocking. I have to say it's the worst place I have ever booked to stay and I won't be going back no matter how cheap they try and sell the rooms.
The hotel was easy to find. There were a few steps up to the front door but it was easy to open with the code given.

The entrance hall was small and dark. The light was on but it felt gloomy and not very welcoming. There is no staff on site either to greet you when you arrive, which was a little confusing as they had asked to see ID upon arrival in the email but there was no one to show it to.

We made our way up the stairs, as there was no lift. The stairs had dust collecting around the bannister/handrail at the bottom and made it look dirty, the stairs also felt like they were subsiding to one side which was a little off putting.

When we got to the 3rd floor we found the lights did not work so we had to ascend to the 4th floor in the dark.

Before even reaching our room the hotel had already left a bad impression, being dirty and dark.

We got to our room, opened the door and went over to the beds. Immediately my partner pointed out a cockroach which was just chilling on the bed. Of course I freaked out at this point and started stamping on it till it disappeared and I am unsure if I managed to squish it or it scuttled away somewhere.

At this point we decided we would not be staying at this hotel. We started looking around the room. The bed was broken, and stained badly yellow. There was rubbish all over the floor.

These are the things that made us leave, literally within 5 minutes of arriving as we feared for our health and safety. Other parts were disappointing but we could have coped with. The view from the window was just a concrete wall despite being on the top floor.

They called after we arrived, but I told them we could not stay here as it was not fit for purpose and it was a health risk. They did offer to change our rooms but I couldn't bare the thought of cockroaches crawling on us. I asked for a refund, they said this wasn't possible. But I should take pics and send them by email and they would consider a refund. So I emailed.
No response.
I then messaged the company I booked through who have tried to get a refund on my behalf. Again they refused but said they were still considering the email.

I am writing this review to warn others that consider booking here as I feel the hotel is not fit for purpose. How they can expect people to sleep in those conditions is beyond me.

I have taken action to try and prevent others experiencing what I have by reporting to health and safety and my next step will be court. I seriously cannot apprehend how they expect people to part with their money and stay here.

Dirt and unsafe - Avoid at all costs

Would not recommend. The only thing Amsterdam Hotel has going for it is the location. The room we arrived at was tiny, dirty, smelled of smoke and had the smoke alarm covered by a bag. The shower was full of mold and dirt, and the kettle we were supplied had rust flaking off the heating element, which was not a great thing to find in a cup of tea.

The friendly receptionist transferred us to another room, which was cleaner and less smokey. The fire alarm was also worryingly covered by a plastic bag here.

Feels like a tragedy waiting to happen.
