Death threats/harassment by AW Employee Against Client
I am sharing my experience because I believe people should know how a serious safety situation involving a client was handled.
A client was subjected to repeated harassment and received statements that I understood to be death threats. A police report was filed documenting the harassment and threats, and the matter was referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for review and a charging decision.
America Works was aware of the situation, including Legal. Despite being made aware of the reported threats and ongoing harassment, I did not see action that I believed adequately addressed the client’s safety concerns.
A temporary restraining order was also entered against the individual involved.
What concerns me most is that, despite the reported threats, documented harassment, police involvement, and the temporary restraining order, the individual continues to work for America Works.
I am sharing this based on my firsthand experience and documentation of the situation. I am not making a determination about whether criminal charges should be filed—that decision belongs to law enforcement and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. My concern is how America Works responded after being made aware of the situation.
I believe people considering working with or receiving services from an organization should have access to this information and be able to make their own informed decisions.
