Total waste of time as 90% of threads don’t get replies

With 83,604 members there’s no shortage of users but a totally lack of interest is this forum's downfall. The few members that do post anything stick to a limited range of topics and as a result the same few threads into hundreds of pages. I offered lots of interesting and unique ideas that in theory should’ve sparked many discussions: “What if Israel had been a cricketing nation?” “What if Russia’s president had been a Chechen?” “What if Jimmy Saville had been murdered in the 90s?” “What if Saddam Hussein had decided to fully cooperate with the UN.” Yet my threads generated only a handful of responses at best.

Researching a thread, covering all points, compiling pictures, making the whole thing engaging takes at least a few hours. But its pointless dedicating so much time and energy if members ultimately show a total lack of interest.

The few replies you do get are mostly cynical and critical - guys with a total imagination by-pass. A large part of the members here gain some strange pleasure out of denigrating your scenarios. Something simple like ‘What if Israel played cricket’ descends into a bunch of guys discussing why this wouldn’t happen in real life (many of their suppositions are actually inaccurate yet they’ll still persist). These eejits don’t seem to grasp the concept that slight tweaks in history can cause vastly differing outcomes, instead they fixate on superimposing actual history on your idea then discussing why it would never happen in real life LOL.

On the plus side the mods like CalBear are fair but fair, strict in dealing with problematic posters without being so overbearing they stifle debate. Unfortunately for them this forum and most of the 83k members are fast asleep with no interest in contributing anything at all.
