I was hoping that this was the program that would be the boost to help with weight loss. The costs involved is high but thought if the desired weight loss happens it would be worth it. You are promised that you will get all the help you need and that there will always be someone on the end of the telephone if you need to talk to a therapist or the doctor. That is not the case! I had to wait almost all day on my second day for a call back.!! They do not prepare you for some pretty awful side effects. When I asked the doctor during the consultation about any side effects, he brushed over them saying its was only a few that had them.
This definitely is not for everyone! When I called to say that I was going to discontinue the program they didn't even ask why, I think they are only interested in making money!!!
I started the programme on 15th March weighing in at a fraction off 20 stone, unfit, unhealthy and very unhappy with the person I had allowed myself to become - dependant on junk food, diet pop, as well as the booze. After meeting the team and looking at the paperwork I embraced the possiblility that I could actually do what they promised - lose the weight and be healthy, and after so many failed attempts, I was rather cynical but thought nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I put the blinkers on and had did exactly as I was instructed and advised. The sachets - drinks, meals, desserts I found delicious! along with the specified fruits and vegetables, I was never hungry - in fact I had to set a reminder on my phone to make sure I stuck to the 3 hour intervals! There were times I actually thought I was eating too much, but exactly as promised I started to lose the pounds and then stones as well as numerous inches. To date I have lost 7 stones 6 pounds, dropped from a size 24 to a size 12/14, I am healthy, fit and oh so happy! I feel reborn and transformed into the woman I've always hoped I could be. My life as a 56 year old is not one suffering the menopause and associated illnesses and problems. In fact I feel better than I did when I was in my 20's and 30's. I have a new confidence, a new approach to life - life is for living and grabbing with both hands and having a ball. My friends and people I haven't seen in months are amazed at the transformation! I constantly 'double take' myself when I see my reflection, amazed at how good I look and feel! And all this with zero surgery and minimal exercise. I would wholeheartedly recommend this programme (diet) to anyone and everyone - in fact I do just that on a daily basis.
Alevere has saved my life, my health, my sanity and belief in myself!!!
I actually have a future and can live life to the fullest now!!!
ITS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!
This is the best weight loss programme I've seen- and I've tried almost all over the last 25 years. I have now lost 3 stone over 9 weeks, with another 4 still to go. The foods are really good, the staff are excellent- there is nothing I would improve. It depends how much you want it, but if you can afford it - and want to be reduce your size, and are happy to stick to the rules, then there is no better diet in the world. I have never been as healthy, and my diabetes is rapidly improving, and my hair is in fabulous condition. So many more positives than mere weight loss- wonderful!!
The programme works if you follow it. Felt reassured knowing that my own treatment had been determined by a medical doctor and I had regular reviews with them as well as the weekly treatments. Amazing the stuff they focus on - it's not just the weight loss but they looked at the body fat, the amount of fat around each of my organs (which they can measure), energy levels and fitting it all into my day to day. Can't believe the shift in my life in such a short space of time.
Alevere is by far the best programme i have ever been on. I weighed over 20 stone and lost 6 stone in 23 weeks. Now let me be clear, this weight loss was 'fat loss' not water or muscle but FAT. This is the difference with this programme v all others.
Having a medical and a full blood test took away any other reason as to me not being able to lose weight.
It took me a week to get into the programme, but I never felt hungry nor tired, in fact i had more energy in the afternoons as i did not get that sleep feeling after lunch.
The treatments really do work. I have no lose skin after the weight loss and they are extremely pleasant to have - just like having a weekly massage.
The gradual introduction back to food a stage at a time really helps you get organised and understand the size of portions that will keep the weight off long term.
If you are over weight - this is the best investment you can make - after all its your health that really matters.
Yes the programme is more than other programmes but it does work and if you stick correctly to the programme its impossible not to lose weight.
Alevere is sort of a extreme Atkins diet with some treatments involved. I lost 2 stone in about 2 months. You could do diets elsewhere but this speed you need a doctor checking on you and the treatments to make sure you look okay afterwards.
I can't give more than one star for my experience with the Alevere diet plan because it did not give me the rapid weight loss it promised. So beware, before you part with your money, it does not shift weight rapidly for everyone.
I lost 1lb in week one, 1lb in week 2 and 2.5lb in week 3 so I didn't continue on the plan after week 4 because at that rate if loss I would be bankrupt before I reached my target weight. And yes, I had stuck rigidly to the plan with no cheating.
The therapists I met were all lovely, professional and helpful but that's no consolation when the weight is coming off so slowly.
I have had a tremendous experience with the Alevere clinic in Leeds. I did the diet 7 years ago but stopped prematurely as I had some personal challenges (nothing to do with the diet).
I have returned and there are some of the same staff; receptionists, doctors and therapists. They are all lovely and very supportive. It really does matter.
I think you get out what you put in to anything like this. You need to remember that although this is a business they genuinely do want you to succeed. It is a partnership.
There is no denying that it is not easy and requires sacrifice, people telling you you are nuts but to see the weight go and to see yourself returning is amazing. The treatments certainly help your skin to compensate for the fast weight loss.
If you struggle with your weight and are determined then this is definitely a good way to go. I know there is a cost but I for one think it is very worthwhile.
Alevere is a commercial implementation of a medically supervised low calorie, low carbohydrate diet for people who are substantially overweight.
There are several phases to the diet. In the first phase, you take five sachets a day and incorporate allowed vegetables and some fruits twice a day.
There is no doubt that the diet works. This is very close to the Diabetes Reversal diet of Professor Roy Taylor of the University of Newcastle. You can expect to lose about 1.5 to 2 kg per week in the first weeks.
But this is a hard diet. You will probably be consuming less than 1000 calories per day; in our case, it was closer to 750 calories per day. You are expected to drink quite a lot of water (between 2 and 3 litres of water per day) which is both difficult and will cause frequent dashes to the toilet. Constipation, stomach upsets and flatulence will occur disturbingly frequently. All these awful things, however, are compensated for by seeing the numbers on the scales reduce every day. In the beginning, the rapid rate of weight loss compensates you for the pain you are going through.
The cost is approximately £130 per week for the treatments (weekends which is when we could make it), approximately £130 per week for the sachets (7 x £18.50) and around £30 per week for associate supplements, blood-tests and so on. You should therefore budget approximately £1250 per month.
There are weekly treatments of both ultrasound (to break up fat cells) and the high intensity vacuuming of the skin to promote collagen assisted tightening of loose skin to mitigate the side-effects of rapid weight loss.
These weekly treatments are carried out by therapists who are not paid a great deal and who are very variable in both expertise and social ability. Further, because of the surprisingly high staff turnover, any therapist who is both competent and personable cannot be depended on to be there the next week. If you are lucky enough to find a therapist who is both competent and human, then you are very lucky. Just pray that the therapist is there next week!
However, your rate of weight loss will tail off with time and therefore you cannot depend on the same weight loss every week. You are now past the honeymoon stage, the going gets tough, temptation is harder to resist.
We discovered that it was really important that the human support you receive is of the best quality possible, particularly in the latter stages of the diet. This unfortunately is where Alevere falls down badly and so does the diet.
With my wife and myself, there came a point when our weight loss was tailing off, the therapists who had not yet left were truly awful with one notable exception, the response to repeated complaints was simply inadequate and consisted of a number of bleated apologies without any attempt to fix the underlying problems.
Some of our low moments included:
Waiting for 15 minutes while the therapists chatted amongst themselves and then having a shortened treatment for which the whole fee was charged
One apparently OCD therapist stating that there were evil people in the world and that I must stay horizontal until she left the room for her sake
One therapist shouting because I was unwise enough to point out that she had put down the wrong blood pressure
The same therapist shouting because I was even more unwise enough to point out that she had put the wrong phase down on the treatment sheets
The practice manager discussing our medical matters in the reception room in front of other clients despite repeated requests for privacy
The practice manager telling me that our concerns were unfounded
Complete lack of response to my wife's complaints regarding lack of privacy
Our son is at another branch and his experiences of mistake & arrogance mirror ours to some extent, showing that this is not an isolated incident at one location.
Good song, shame about the singers!
