2⭐️ as the car was very clean & presentable. I paid in full, upfront, only renting a children’s car seat there at the airport which again paid for there and then. Returned the car in an immaculate con... See more

Recently hired SUV from MCO.
Recently hired SUV from MCO.
Fantastic service again.
- No issue picking car up slightly earlier
- Easy pick up process
- Great quality SUV parked up all ready – could not have been closer to Alamo kiosk.
- Fantastic service / help by Alamo staff to familiarise myself with SUV controls – Mercedes are a little different configuration
- Easy drop off process
Superb service from start to finish. Could not have been bettered.
Re confirmed my view that Alamo are by far and away the best rental provider at MCO by some way.
Unreliable
Unreliable. Wait time to get a pre booked car is excessively long. Bordering on scam: renting cars they don’t have. I was waiting with 7 other cars for 40 min !!!
Beware: Unjustified excessive charges
We rented a car for 15 days from Alamo/Enterprise (same company apparently) at Munich Airport and returned it clean and in good condition — yet we were charged a €300 “cleaning fee” without notice and without explanation.
The photos they sent after we asked why we were charged showed only normal use: a bit of dust and small debris on the floor mats, nothing unusual or that would require more than a quick vacuum that’s routinely done between any two rentals.
Even their own customer service representative agreed that the photos show only normal use. In order to return the car cleaner than this we would have had to remove our shoes before entering the car - which is completely ridiculous!
After MULTIPLE complaints, they refunded only €150, still keeping half of an unjustified charge.
We also had other bothering issues with them:
- No receipt was given at return or sent to our email. we only noticed the extra charges on our credit card statement! I wonder how many costumers just don't check their credit card statements and this extra unjustified payments go unnoticed...
- The insurance deductible was raised at pickup from €1,200 (as stated in our reservation) to €1,700 at pickup, claiming this “applied to all existing reservations.” I don't think it's even legal.
- We didn't find a nearby fuel station and returned the car with a half-full tank. The refueling fee was about *three times* the actual fuel cost. I could understand a normal additional fee for refueling, e.g. €50, but we were charged €200 for a €70 missing fuel...
Alamo’s customer service was slow and unhelpful, and the refund was only partial despite clear evidence that they provided (photos they took!).
We rented from Alamo although there were cheaper options, because we thought it's a reputable company. But apparently we were wrong!
I suggest to rent elsewhere, and if you rent here, check your receipt carefully, document the car thoroughly, watch for hidden fees, and BE PREPARED TO PAY MUCH MORE THAN EXPECTED: we ended up paying €1700 on a €1200 rental + €70 missing fuel.
NO CAR AVAILABLE eventhough booked
NO CAR AVAILABLE eventhough booked, paid and confirmation mail received 7 weeks in advance. 23 September 2025 I booked a car for 8-9 and 10 November 2025. Pick-up time 16.00.
I arrived at the Alamo desk in Avignon Gare TGV at 15.59, the lady checked my ID and drivers licence and simply said : 'On n'a pas de voiture. Est-ce que vous pouvez revenir demain ?' (we have no car. can you come back tomorrow ?). UNACCEPTABLE !! No further assistance from ALAMO !! We finally found a car in another agency in the neighboorhood for 494,93 euro. Today still no refund received from ALAMO (117,84 euro paid on 23.09.25) nor any information received of how ALAMO will pay us the difference between the price for the rent of the other car and the original rent at ALAMO) . Extremely disappointing experience which ruined our weekend.
Good cars, lazy service
Booked a certain size car for a recent hire and was sent to an aisle with lower class cars. When I questioned this I was told that I was incorrect, so triple checked everything and confirmed that in actual fact the Alamo agent was wrong.
No apology or recognition of their error, just shrugged and palmed me off on someone else. Easy to get right but when the attitude is so wrong it really impacts my impression of the company.
Avoid Alamo at all costs
If there were a zero-star option, Alamo would earn it.
It's now been two full weeks trying to resolve a simple billing error where I was charged the wrong price and to this day, it’s still unresolved. I’ve now spoken with NINE different representatives, including multiple “escalation managers,” and not a single one has actually fixed the issue or followed through on their promises.
On 3 separate occasions, I’ve been told someone would call me back within 24 hours. Not once has that happened. Not one call. Every time I reach out, I’m forced to start the story over from scratch, and every person I speak to assures me they’ll “take ownership.” None ever do.
The lack of accountability and customer care is absolutely unacceptable for a company of Alamo’s size. What should have been a quick and easy resolution has turned into a complete customer service nightmare.
After this experience, they’ve permanently lost my business. I’ll be taking my rentals—and my company’s travel business—elsewhere.
Save yourself the time, frustration, and broken promises. Avoid Alamo at all costs.
Alamo / Enterprise France (Orly…
Alamo / Enterprise France (Orly Airport) is unlawfully withholding my security deposit of €1,919.58 after a traffic accident that was not my fault.
The damage was caused by an identified third party (a motorcyclist), and a fully completed and signed European Accident Statement (Constat Amiable) was given to Alamo at the time of vehicle return.
The responsible driver and his insurance company are clearly identified.
Despite this, Alamo refuses to return my deposit and claims “internal processing delays,” which is not a legal reason to retain a customer’s money — especially when the rental client is not responsible and all documentation is provided.
I also received an official letter from Alamo dated 02/10/2025 stating that the case may take months, which is unacceptable.
The rental company has all the necessary information to claim damages from the responsible party’s insurance directly.
I have already filed complaints with:
– Enterprise Corporate Europe
– ECC France (European Consumer Centre)
– DGCCRF (French Consumer Protection Authority)
I request that Alamo refund my deposit immediately.
This situation is deeply unprofessional and creates unnecessary stress for customers.
Dodgy damage claims
I picked up a rental car from Alamo in Basel Airport. It was night time. The staff member stated that I could report any existing damage in the morning when it was daylight. The next day I noticed a small scratch on the side of the car, which was certainly existing damage. However it was not possible to report this damage. When I returned the car, Alamo claimed the cost to repair would be £600 which is far in excess of the actual damage, and is a dishonest business practice, especially given their staff comment that it would be ok to report damage in the day light. Given the whole rental was only about £380, charging so much for a scratch which I did not cause, and was existing damage is a complete scam. I suspect it's because I didn't purchase their CDW product. They also denied what their staff member said about reporting in the daylight, and claimed that i should have photographed everything at the airport, in the dark, and added that the photo had to show inwas at Basel airport. This would have been impossible because Alamo cars are parked in the far corner of the car park where you can't see the airport. So I recommend if you are renting from Alamo, that you record everything the staff member says, so you can have evidence. Or even better don't rent from Alamo, because they are crooks.
Never ever use Alamo from Gatwick…
Never ever use Alamo from Gatwick airport UK. They will rip you off, they will find damage under the car which is not visible easily to the eye and charge you for it. They will not discuss it with you, all they say to you is "You signed a contract"
When you submit a dispute there is no communication about it just a uniform letter back saying they have dismissed the dispute. We are to call internationally to chase everything up over the claim. Nothing was sent to is unless we made repeat calls. Stay clear there are much better options whose aim is not cheating international visitors our of their excess. From this experience I will never use Alamo anywhere in the world
I'd give 0 stars if I could!
I'd give 0 stars if I could!
Awful experience - hired a car from Pula airport, drove on to the motorway to make our way to Porec. Within 5 mins, a burning smell fills the car. We pull over on the hard shoulder (2 young children in the car) the smell disappears, we continue to drive and once in a safe place, call the rental company who suggest they'll send a mechanic. A lorry turns up with a replacement vehicle, and upon returning the vehicle we were told we had to pay 900 euros (600 for a new clutch, and 300 for the lorry!!) we've disputed and been ignored and still not been sent any proof.
Alamo Scamming Us!
Never again with Alamo -- they are scamming us! We rented a car in Phoenix in late September. Of course we were there during a 10-year monsoon that produced some hail. We could not see any damage though (hail was like pea sized so small). When we returned it they immediately asked about hail damage (should have clued in then that the scam was starting). He pointed out 3 teeny tiny dents on the roof that frankly I couldn't see. Big mistake not video taping him and the car. This was the smallest compact car available (a Mitsubishi). And of course we did not buy their insurance. They are now trying to stick us with over $2000 in repairs, including the quarter panels which did not have any dents. Mind you this car was not even cleaned when given too us -- they turned it around immediately -- we knew because there was a backpack in the back seat that the prior renter had accidentally left. And there was a huge scratch on the right side of the front bumper so obviously this car was not brand new or well-cared for. We're letting our insurance company go after them on this, but we will never, ever rent from Alamo again or from their parent/sister companies (Enterprise, National). THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!! They are trying to pocket that money -- no way they plan to repair that car.
Fraud 100%
Fraud 100%
Don’t trust these scammers — they will deceive you!
they gave us damaged car, cut out deposit
they gave us damaged car, we took proof, all went well but they won't return your deposit in full and will cut some part for no reason. when asked they didn't have any proof
go to a more reliable conpany
Disappointing
Booked an Alamo car, and not the basic model. A very basic Peugeot 3 something was provided, with 80,000 miles on the clock and a front wheel bearing on the way out. Other big issue: insurance. I’m used to buying independent excess insurance cover but I’ve never had to pay (a lot) extra for basic third party insurance. With this lot you were only covered if any accident was non fault!
What I didn’t realise is Alamo subcontract to local providers - ‘Global Lease’ in this case (in Morocco) - who clearly don’t operate to the same car standards.
1 star is for the fact the car worked and was clean and two for the guys in the office who were very helpful, polite and dropped us at the airport at the end.
Beware what your paying for, check the small print.
Marcedes equals Fiat ??? Nice and quick service by young and…
Nice and quick service by young and kind coworkers. But to equal an ordered Mercedes with a Fiat is not inside good business manners.
Abusive charges
Abusive charges. I return the car with a little less than full. They charge £6 in gas but £8 in gas’s management.
Smelly Car
We picked the car up at Bergerac Airport. We were taken to the car, it was raining slightly, the guy opened the windows. Bit strange! We drove away after a smooth handover. We parked the car. When we got in the next day there was a bad smell of sour milk. I realised then that was why the guy opened the windows! We kep the windows open most of the time when we were in the car. Everytime we returned to the car we had to have the windows open. When we hire a car we expect to be able to travel in with the windows closed!
Wasn’t impressed at the attempt to add on the extra insurance to cover a claim. The price you pay should cover everything.
When we returned the car the same guy was there and he pretended not to know about the smell. He said he would send us a money off voucher. He didn’t. I would rather have money returned than a voucher. I wouldn’t recommend this company
Alamo Car Hire - Trouble returning car in Madrid
I booked a car to pick up in Barcelona and return in Madrid at the Plaza de Espana office, on a Sunday. I booked it directly with Alamo through their website that offered the option to return the car to that particular office in the centre of Madrid. When I picked the car up I asked the employee to delay the return by an hour, which he promptly changed in my booking. What he didn’t tell me was that that specific Sunday was a national day in Spain and that that office is never open on a weekend! After 3 hours of traffic jam, trying to find the office I decided to return it to a different office, at Atocha station. It took another hour to find the place, it’s tucked away in an unpaved road with no signage whatsoever and the entry is easily missed because it’s narrow and looks like the entry to an abandoned site. Apparently they are not allowed by the station to have any signage showing their location and it’s not in Waze, Google maps or the satnav in the car! I also trird to phone them but the automatic answer said “sorry, all offices are closed, call tomorrow”. I’ve rented car many times before, in many different countries and, normally, I wouldn’t choose to return a car in the centre but their website AND employee in Barcelona confirmed the I could and, foolishly, I trusted them. Never again!
