Amazing and fun, well worth the trip. Been recommending to everyone
Stand Up Paddle boarding on the River Avon is definitely something I wanted to do as it's local, but never knew we were allowed?
It was so much fun, I started back in November, where there was just frost on the river and very cold, but I still went for it anyway.
Tristan Bawn, the qualified BSUPA instructor took me through the health and safety and the equipment we would be using. He was friendly and informative. As we got in the water, I picked it up very quickly, and was taught everything I needed to know so I could ride solo, from paddle strokes, turns, racing strokes, and a few tricks. All good fun and I didn't fall in :D.
Because I was his only lesson for the day (Because it was really cold last November), Tristan and I went over my allocated time, as we explored and just talked.
I've never been on an Inflatable SUP before, but it felt solid and very stable. After 20 minutes my legs stop shaking and I wasn't even thinking about being on a board, but rather enjoyed the spectacular scenery on the river.
Since then I have joined his Stand Up Paddle club, Source 2 Sea SUP Club, and have attended events he sets up with the local clubs from kayakers, Dragon boat team and even other SUP clubs.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I would recommend joining the club after and start touring up and down the river between Bath and Brislington with the local members. The scenery is amazing, and the locals are very friendly :D
If I didn't do the lesson with Tristan, I would have carried on driving past the area without ever knowing how amazing the waterway is and would have missed this adventure?!
