Gave them a bad review last year and they've taken it down, well I'll just have to repost it.
I'd been with Abbey since the mid 80's, I had a 16 year old range rover that was never more than £420 a year to insure, then my 2024 renewal came in, £1600 they wanted told them to stick it, went on line and got it for £600.
Loyalty means nothing to these people so always shop around...
£4969 for the year, for a Fiat 500 - the math ain't mathing.
Just got a quote for insurance for a Fiat 500 - 4 years old, no modificaitons or anything, £4969 for the year. How on earth is this normal or acceptable? I currently pay £45 a month and according to their quote I'd be paying £422.16 for comprehensive cover with a £250 voluntary excess. The bare minimum. Honestly, someone needs to start regulating this industry because it is absolutely diabolical. I am a 30 year old Marketing Manager on £35k a year who is being stung with a £422 bill each month simply for driving to and from work? IN A FIAT 500? Come on. Time these companies got real, or time I went on the dole so someone else can pay it for me. Absolute joke.

Be cautious if you're considering any insurance with Abbey – make sure to carefully read all the fine print. I'm typically not one to leave negative reviews, but I’ve encountered several issues with this company. My most recent experience was especially frustrating: due to health issues, I had to stop driving, so I contacted Abbey to cancel my remaining six months of installments. Instead of accommodating this, they sent me a letter charging for the remaining period and adding a £50 fee. When I raised a formal complaint, their response was dismissive, ignoring the details I provided and merely pointing me back to their terms and conditions.
Be careful
Faithless Enterprise Revealed
Abbey Insurance provided me with a straightforward and efficient service. The experience was generally smooth, though there were a few minor hiccups in communication. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience.
Great customer service, poor pricing
Unfortunately had to leave as my policy cost quadrupled over the space of two years but always had a positive customer service experience. Needed some documents for my new policy and spoke to Shannon in the Ballymena office who had them in my email inbox within an hour. If only the cheaper insurers had this level of service!
10/10 for customer service
10/10 for customer service. Ryan Brown from the Londonderry team went out of his way to help me renew my car insurance - the process was clear, simple and quick thanks to his professional approach and friendly manner. Would highly recommend abbey to anyone. Thanks again Ryan!
Very good experience
I had the best experience with AbbeyAutoline. I am their client for a long time and this year I have a difficult situation with the policy due to the circumstances. Gary O'Rourke took my situation personally and found the best option for me which took a lot of weight off my shoulders. Feel very thankful personally and a happy client for many more years. Cannot recommend them high enough.
Rip off merchants
Avoid ! Had to cancel my policy after just over 1 month...after paying £151 plus a direct debit of £65 my refund was £18! Considering the cost of living now this was a total rip off and I would recommend people to get insurance elsewhere!
Shocking service!!!!!
Absolutely speakless at the service I recieved today, been a customer for here for years and was rudely spoken to and the member of staff hung up on me. Disgraceful and disrespectful
Worst reviews on trust pilot…
Went to insure my new car and was told my current insurers wouldn't insurers it. I had paid my insurance in full 6 weeks previous. I was told it would take 2 months to process a refund. They actually exceeded their expectations and a got it in 59 days! When I cancelled my insurance I was told I'd be charged £150 for six weeks insurance, then that changed to £160. Asked for a breakdown of how that was worked out and I'm still waiting. Interesting to see they one of the lowest reviews on trust pilot for insurance. I will never use them again.
Absolute scammers!!!!!
If I could give less than 1 star I would. Bought travel insurance off them and paid €60, after issues viewing my policy they told me they can’t send me my documents because I booked online?? They then said I had to contact another company called Sunworld, who after contacting, told me they had no information about me either. Abbey Auto Online took no responsibility and said they couldn’t help me even though I paid them. Had to contact my bank for a chargeback because of their fraudulent carry on.
Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Absolute scammers. Just lucky I got my money back because of my bank
Shambles…
Why are abbey referring customers to broker direct insurance?Have you did your due dillegence on this firm? They're reputation is in the gutter, they're reviews by ordinary customers are abominable leaving loads of people high and dry by refusing legitimate claims,DO SOMETHING ABBEY,BLOODY DO SOMETHING.

I am being charged £143 in total for cancellation for car insurance. Absolutely ridiculous, don’t worry I intend to tell all my friends and family never to use this insurance company and rest assured you won’t ever receive another penny from me for any insurance required in the future. I work in a large factory and plan to tell everyone there as well to stay clear. I will also be asking everyone to share on Facebook with their friends. Best of luck for the future Abbey Autoline. Regards Paul Connor
I’ve been a loyal customer of abbey…
I’ve been a loyal customer of abbey insurance for 30 years. I recently had to retire due to illness, on cancellation of my policy I was due a refund of £90. I was informed that i have been charged £50 cancellation fee. Totally shocked, thanks for your custom. Pathetic.
Well done Nathan
Been with Abbey a few years now (Coleraine Office) since having to deal with the online comparison sites proved to be a nightmare. The face to face experience is hard to beat as shown today when following the purchase of a new car mean't I had 3 cars, two policy holders and a young driver getting her first policy in her name to sort out. Nathan in the Coleraine Office was excellent over a period of a couple of hours getting it sorted for me. Also got me a years Gap insurance at a competitive rate and then went in search of a travel policy. Thank you Nathan.
I'm simply disgusted with this crowd
I'm simply disgusted with this crowd. Dealing with the Cavan office and you cannot get a response on the phone. Have paid almost €900 for car insurance for cover since 31st December. No receipts provided and no disc no insurance cert still - it's 13th January. I'm going to have to take this further.
Had a problem with home insurance.
Had a problem with home insurance.
Elderly parent had to go into a nursing home.
Searched online but wanted to support local.
Contacted Brad at AbbeyAutoline, Coleraine (our local company), he was so helpful, professional and more importantly understanding.
We got sorted within a few days (due to level of cover we required).
Couldn’t recommend this company enough and cannot thank Brad enough.
My father got insurance for his lorry…
My father got insurance for his lorry elsewhere and much cheaper alough may be cancelled by new insurer's due to this company not sending him his no claims bonus which is needed and was ask for 25 days ago
Dont waste your money, Go with a provider that wont rip you off.
I cancelled my policy mid term as i got a new car and Abbey could not come anywhere close to AXA's quote so i went with AXA. I was told £50 cancellation fee but them when i got my refund which took more that the 30 days which i was told, more charges were taken off my final refund for "revoked discount" when i called about this they were no help said its states it on the back of the letter. They rip off their customers and the staff dont care and why should they, they still get paid. STAY AWAY and save your money.
AVOID THIS LOT!!!
Completely disgusting behaviour by them, told them I would pay their £50 when I get paid but get a threatening letter from them threatening to bring me to court, great business all right doing that to a single parent, as if these times aren't stressful enough, yous won't ever get another penny from me, your staff are Completely ignorant as well, would 100% recommend anyone avoid them!!!!!
