I bought a 686 jacket in collaboration…

I bought a 686 jacket in collaboration with Mystery Ranch, a limited edition, and less than four weeks later the jacket is showing significant wear and colour fading after being carried in a fabric bag, whilst the bag itself still looks as good as new.
Customer service was very superficial and didn’t offer a solution. Just speculated on how it could have happened. Terrible service of the worst kind; on a jacket with a lifetime guarantee, it’s a joke.
One email and no further replies from them, just silence towards customers.
Stay well away from them; I haven’t experienced such poor quality in 25 years, and at those prices.
Clothes for a fifth of the price last better, even knock-offs from China.
500 dollars down the drain. Worst purchase in decades!
Lifetime guarantee – a BIG JOKE

They were extremely quick to respond…

They were extremely quick to respond when it came to initiating the return and changing the size, but once they had the item back, communication completely stopped. It has now been over a month and a half since I returned the hoodie, and I still have not received my refund. I have sent countless emails to customer support with no response whatsoever. At this point, it feels like I’m being deliberately ignored. This level of service is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about how refunds are handled. If you’re considering ordering from this company, be prepared to escalate the issue and potentially contact your local consumer rights or consumer protection representative to get your money back.

Ordered snowboard pants on 11.12.2025. Its been more than a month and still nothing delivered, shipment status shows its still on the way, but the package is in a loop in between Germany- Belgium. Tried to reach out to customer support many times, nothing but complete silence for more then a week! Worse customer support to ever exist.

Buyer beware!

I ordered a pair of 120$ pants. They showed up with a hole in them from the factory. They graciously sent me another pair. I wore them one time and the busted apart at the seam. After many emails back and forth they basically told me to kick rocks and stopped replying. Buyer beware

EXTREMELY POOR COMMUNICATION

Firstly i ordered my item in June did not receive it until the end of august, attempted to return which failed due to their poor communication, then had a letter from DHL stating thst i need to pay customs charges, which i forwarded onto them and they said this will be paid. I now have debt collectors contacting me, my credit score has gone down because of this and still no response from them!! I have emailed every day for the past week and not a word from them. NEVER BUY FROM THEM.

Taped seam near pocket…

Taped seam near pocket deamination/unglued where the 2 differrent colored material meet. 686 response "This type of damage considered accidental/wear and tear and not a manufacturing defect covered under warranty, but we do want to support a repair". Really you want to support my repair???? Stay away from their garbage clothing as they dont last.

They do not stand by their products/warranty fraud

They do not stand by their products. I bought 686 GT Goretex Jacket XL a few months ago, worn 3 times, main zipper broke and this was their response (to summarize, they said I would have to bring to repair partner or local tailor, pay for repair myself and they would generously give me 20% off my new purchase! What a joke):

We reached out our manufacturer, and they let us know that the issue with the zipper is caused by a damaged zipper pin, which is why it’s not closing. It looks like the main zipper will need to be replaced. While we don’t have our own repair center, we recommend checking out the list of repair partners below with some of the best repair shops across North America!

686 Repair Resources

If you'd prefer not to send your gear out, a local tailor might also be able to assist with the zipper repair. Once your jacket is repaired, we’d be happy to offer you 20% off at 686.com as a thank you for extending the lifespan of your gear! Just send us a copy of the receipt once the repair is done, and we’ll send you the discount code.

Wishing you a happy new year.

Sketchy Company

I ordered snow pants and a jacket during the Black Friday sale for a Christmas gift. The jacket was canceled due to “no stock”. When I went to the site, the jacket was shown as available. I was told that “it came back in stock” and if I wanted it I would have to re-order at the current regular price.

Poor quality construction with no warranty. Bib pants for my son came apart within 1 month of purchase

Ordered a pair of snow bib pants for my 7 year old in March 2024. The "500D Horseshoe Hem" on the inside of the leg where the "Double Layer Fabric Inner Kick Panel" is came undone within 1 month. We purchased these to last the final month of this season and then to be used next year (with the potential for another full season because of the "Youth Evolution™ Multiple Sizing System in Legs". Sent in a warranty claim in April 2024. Received the response May 2024 which was essentially please feel free to get them repaired anywhere and send us a copy of the receipt. We will give you A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST IN FUTURE 686 CREDIT. UMMMM NO. The product didn't even last 6 weeks, why would I ever purchase another 686 product.

Do not buy this crap

Do not buy this crap. We spent a few thousand dollars on 686 clothes for boarding a year ago. My ski pants were destroyed after a few runs (stitching in butt separated completely), my husband's gloves within first season (stitching tore along the thumb) and now my husband's jacket tore at the zipper leaving him jacketless for a 4 day trip away from home. Over $1000 worth of stuff and they don't warranty it - they offer to patch it up at a random tailor with other material (not Goretex) instead of replace it- and it takes months. Scam.

Mismanaged Order/Ignored by Support

Ordered an item off their Black Friday sale, was charged and issued tracking. After 3 weeks of no shipping and no info I reached out to customer support. Customer support responded by wording the message in a way that implied that they’re the ones who initiated contact, issued a refund and a discount code that would result in a higher price that I paid during Black Friday, not able to order the item again. When asked several times for explanation of how things would have unfolded had I not reached out - was ignored by customer support.

As frustrating as it feels to get my order mismanaged, getting stonewalled by customer service by a company whose reputation is supposedly customer friendly is extremely frustrating.

Disappointing experience. Mistakes happen, that’s life. How we respond to them and manage after is what counts, and this was poor.

I loved everything about these pants…

I loved everything about these pants until the crotch seam started unraveling. (Less than 60 days) I submitted the warranty claim and they sent me through the process of exchanging. I bought these on sale and was only going to get “credit” for what I paid for them not an exchange for another pair. Also, I was going to have to pay $8 to process/exchange their bad product. I decided to just keep them and wear them until the seam completely unraveled. Well less than a few weeks later three teeth from the zipper break and now they are worthless. I have many pairs of Lululemon and Bird Dogs. Trust me. Stick with those two brands and skip these.

Was sent the wrong item

Was sent the wrong item. The 686 "return portal" is a complete sham. This company has no desire to fix their screw up and ripped me off for $50 by sending me the cheap version of pants.

686 refused to credit me the difference. Refused to send me a portal that actually works.

Solid clothing, but you better pray they send you the right stuff, because there is NO effort to fix their screwups.

Horrible customer service.

Ordered some gloves for express delivery (1-3 days) as a Christmas gift, on day 5 they canceled my order. Tried calling (10 times over 2 days) and went to a voicemail that was full. Will not buy from 686 again.
