4iiii dying after a couple months use

After buying my first 4iiii 3+ powermeter, i was really happy with the product. It worked well, was super well priced and had me satisfied. Problems started arising a couple of months in though. The powermeter wouldn't turn on anymore. Untill it did. Then it would disconnect during a ride, give wrong data and then go dead again. not a new battery nor reset could solve the issue. Luckily i was able to get it warranty replaced through the online bikeshop (local, not 4iiii itself). After i got a new unit and a few rides/weeks passed, the same issue occurred. Powermeter wouldn't turn on, no signal, no lights,...
I'm let down once again by the product. It's fine when it does work. But it just doesn't. I'm hoping they solve the issues. From reading online, i'm not the only one here. I'm happy to have great customer services here, otherwise it would've been all my money down the drain, TWICE! so no, wouldn't reccommend, for sure just spend more and get some assiomas, rotor or shimano powermeter.

bought the precision 3+ powermeter

bought the precision 3+ powermeter, after a while the battery cap dropped out during a ride, bricking the device, as there was no way to fix a battery in it.
I have ordered a replacement cap fixed it with some tape for extra safety.
Same thing happened, the battery cap fell out and I realised it's either my device or the whole battery cap design is faulty.
I have tried to reach out to them but received zero reply from them for multiple emails. the product itself works fine when there's a battery in it but the supprot is below the lowest mark.

4iiii - Poor After Sales Service

My product arrived as described, complete with battery. However, when I powered it up, the battery had less than 35% power left. When I raised this with 4iiii, the first response was that this happened because of shelf storage life. When I challenged that, the next response stated that they could not send separate batteries through the post. When I suggested they pay for a new battery, they then said that they had no way of doing that!!! Essentially, they were not interested. Do not buy direct from them.

Simply excellent customer service

Simply excellent customer service. I was kept informed at every stage and my crank was returned in pristine condition within three days.
It’s the little things like regular updates which make a big difference when you’ve sent off £100s worth of crank via the post office!

Quality issue with MTB and takes REALLY long time each time to get back

Pulled the trigger on an 4iiii power meter last summer after reading great reviews. Problem 1, it took 4 weeks after shipping my left crank to receive back. No issues and very accurate until it broke a year later. Got the RMA with no question asked BUT, it has been 4 weeks again and still pending work to be completed. Otherwise a ok-ish power meter for the $ just probably not built for mtb and assuming you don’t mind the long wait.

Extremely dissatisfied

I am extremely dissatisfied with this product. After just two and a half months of use, I found it impossible to calibrate tho I had no issues. Seeking assistance, I visited my local authorized Specialized dealer, who informed me they would contact 4iii on my behalf. Subsequently, I was informed that the repair would cost nearly half of the original purchase price, approximately €400, which includes shipping to and from Canada because they do not offer european support. :/ Cmon 4iii

Poor product. Terrible support

Precision 3+ power meter. Faulty from word go and stopped working completely within 5 weeks. No European support and the support team are borderline rude. Now expected to pay for postage to Canada for them to look at it. Very poor. Wish I had done more research before buying. The product reviews really should take into account the poor support in Europe.

Works Every Time

I actually have two Precision power meters, one on my gravel bike and one on my road bike. Both are using SRAM AXS Force cranks. I've never had any issues with either one, they simply just work every time I ride. The battery seems to last a long time, I don't think I've changed the one on my road bike and it's been on for over 1 year. I don't remember changing the one on my gravel bike which is now well over 2 years old but maybe I have.

I think the main point is that I don't think about them, they are there and they connect immediately to my Garmin and they just do their job without any issues.

4iiii HR monitor works as it should

switched over to this HR monitor after having multiple Wahoo ones fail on me
what can I say? it still works
it doesn't have the lights that the HR monitor has, but those lights were kinda superfluous anyway
I like that it's thinner than the HR monitor is

Please do yourself a favour and stay…

Please do yourself a favour and stay far far away from this brand. No European time zone service/hub and no real customer service to speak of. It is beyond me why brands like Specialized would partner with these guys but given how quickly they passed me onto 4iiii, I might not be the first one to experience this. Aside from the poor service from 4iiii, they are also way below other brands (e.g. Stages) in terms of quality and durability. I bought a brand new bike 2 weeks ago with a dual 4iiii PM installed. It was the only option.

It never worked and they still want me to send it back to Canada for a 'repair' instead of a direct swap for a new working PM. I had a similar experience with 4iii some 3 years ago and truly thought they would have spend that time improving their product. They have not. Still incredible flimsy and fragile. Reminded me of the early days of Stages. Amazing they haven't learned anything from that.

Giving the product a 2 because I have…

Giving the product a 2 because I have had to replace 4iiii Precision Pro Podium (top of the line) completely 2x and the right side battery cap every other time I change the battery due to it cracking at the screw points. Which for me, I ride 200 hours every 4-6 weeks, is very frequently. I've been riding this PM since 2019 late in the year.

The most recently the housing itself cracked, so once again the entire chain ring set up is back to Canada so the battery housing can be replaced.

All that being said Customer Service has been very responsive.

HRM AND SOFTWARE MISREPRESENTATION

Last April I purchased the 4iiii HEART RATE MONITOR because it alleged it worked with the Apple IOS heath Apps via Bluetooth.
From DAY ONE it did not do so, the App was so bad any stored data was useless and the battery drains in about 20 hours.
Had I read the over 50% one star reviews on Google Play I would have realised this company was out of its depth on software creation.
The Apple store only had a couple of reviews at the time, one 5* which looks like it came from the developer and a 1* from a user.
Support stated that the list of capabilities were coming in the future (contradicting their advertising) and since that time two future updates have rendered the poor but partly usable software into a totally useless HRM data tool.
My scathing review has been removed from the Apple Store despite it being 100% correct and not rude so it is clearly financially advantageous for them to delete it so they can continue to misrepresent the capabilities of their products.

Hardware that requires solid functional software to keep it working which is the backbone of 4iiii creations is not worth buying if the developer adds more bugs whilst removing old ones.

This company has been thoroughly unscrupulous with its advertising and cannot be trusted to support its products or its customers with integrity.

If you complain you just get ignored or your reviews blocked.

UPDATE:

One year of ownership with the last software update being October 2019.

Strava has now blocked 3rd party direct integration of this product (they stated they were crashing the system for all users). Given its poor quality I am not surprised.

The company still paints a rosy picture on their web site but they are not going to say it junk are they.

I however am because it is.
