Built on decades of industry experience, innovation and inspiration, 4Change Energy is a company founded on the idea that electricity should be affordable and contribute to where you live. With headquarters in Texas, we're regulated and certified by the Public Utility Commission (PUC). There's no change to the company who's been delivering your power and responding to outages for as long as you've had electricity, so the service stays the same. And since our corporate parent is a multi-billion dollar energy company, you know it's experience you can trust. In creating 4Change Energy, we set out to give you more than an electric company. We wanted to create a personal connection between us and our customers. We wanted to give you a reason to stay for a long time. And we wanted to create something different. For us? That means doing something that's good for your wallet and your neighbors. It means shaving every cost possible so we can give you low prices, the service you need, and support our communities with a helping hand. You win and your neighbors win.

One star is a way to much for this company. I should have read reviews here first. $100 credit was not paid, because they counted one day less from billing circle. They charge me $20 for early termination, despite the fact, that they can't do it one week before contract ended (Texas law). They are not show since recently daily usage on their website, just to avoid paying $100 credit, also.
Never ever I will go back to their service!
They are a bunch of crooks!
They give you a 100 dollar credit IF you can make it to 1000 khwz…
We leave EVERY LIGHT. Three weeks leading up to the bill, it tells us we are that over 800. And, it’s strange because the readings seem whack anyway, but one night… we left them on ALL DAY and then OVERNIGHT… you know what the change was? 25kilowatz. The closer it gets to your bill, the weirder your readings get. They will literally read it at 997. (True story)
So your bill is 200 consistently. Jo matter what. They let you make it to 1000 ONCE to let you think it’s possible… and then they do this bullshit month after month. Don’t fall for it. The fact that we caught the bad data in real time this last week… will be earning them a call as well as this review.
If there was a ZERO i would have used it! I signed up to a great rate, but if your not at 2000 kwh the they average it
Never read that have never had it in the past. HIGH BILLS, and the customer service is worse, most you can't understand and cant explain jack crap.Going back to my other service.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!
dont do it i cancelled after first bill . You will see when you get your first bill trust me.
Would not recommend. They do not provide the $125 credit even if you are 75 kwH shy of reaching 1000kwH. My bill is double because of this for the last 4 months.
I really wanted a electricity company to stay with long term. This is not that company.
Ditch the outsourced customer service. Awful, terrible and entirely unreliable.
I was lied to about when I can pay my bill without getting a late fee as their online portal would be "down for maintenance". I asked them to review the call log to verify this and was more or less told they weren't going to remove the late fee. On top of that, I recieved a disconnection notice later in the day on the same day I paid my bill. On the 31st of Dec btw. They could not give me a logical explanation as to why the due date wasn't on the 1st as is standard for every other business. (I pay every month btw not a customer that let's bills sit until they pile over)
To add insult to injury, when I went to login to check my bill for the end of this month, my account was cancelled??? So again I call customer service and they can't tell me who or why my account was cancelled and that it would take them 21 days to investigate it. What in the actual fork is going on with those people?
I gave you one star rating to 4 change energy. Other than their deceptive practices, I wrote their customer service three times. I was instructed by a customer service agent on the phone to write customer service. After writing customer service three times with no response, I posted a bad review. 4 change energy posted their rebuttal. They wrote “write customer service if you have a problem “ lol. If this company was legit, the president would simply pick up the phone and call me and ask about my concerns. They simply don’t care.
This is the first time I've ever gotten a disconnection notice from any service. 4change Energy sent me a disconnection notice because of a billing mistake, asking for payment by a certain date. Still, their website's billing system is the most confusing one I've ever seen. If anyone is thinking about electricity options for their home, I really recommend steering clear of this company, as they use a lot of misleading tactics to lure customers into their plans and also trick you with missed payment fees.
This is by far the absolute worst electric company so if you’re thinking about choosing this provider please about face and run quickly in the other direction because this company is extremely expensive and clearly operates under unfair pricing
They boldly advertise NO CANCALATION FEE IF YOU MOVE. The fine print says if you move out of there service area. I would have avoided signing up for this service if I knew they would charge me an arm and a leg and then some when I move!!!
If zero stars were possible, they’d get it. 4Change Energy operates like a bait-and-switch. They advertise “9¢/kWh” rates, but once you factor in their gimmicky usage credits and mandatory Oncor delivery charges, the real cost is nearly double.
In just 90 days I paid $1,200 for electricity — an average of 17.7¢/kWh, which is 61% higher than what they promote. Their Electricity Facts Label looks good only if you use exactly 500, 1,000, or 2,000 kWh. Real households don’t land on those numbers every month, so the credits disappear and the bills skyrocket.
I wish I could give zero stars!!! Horrible rates and when you find a better rate 1.5 months later they charge you $220 early termination fee. They can kick rocks and get it when I pay it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLANS!! Switched to Gexa!!!! So glad I'm gone.
I think this company should be report to the governor to be investigated for lying about there rates they tell one rate then you get your bill and now has to be a average amount and then the supervisor called me and talk to me like I was stupid there is a lot of false advertising going on there

They will screw up and charge you fees that you never were supposed to have and instead of just making it right, they will make you pay all the fees and then "credit" it to your account the following month. They never take responsibility for their mess-ups and never have a supervisor who can talk to you. The reps read from scripts, can barely speak clearly, and can't do anything for you. Complete waste of time and money. They are the "cheapest" for a reason. Cause they really aren't they will find a way to screw you, just like everyone one the other companies.

If I could give zero or minus stars I would.
I am so happy that I just paid the FINAL bill for my brother in laws house today June 2, 2025. I can't believe a company would shut of the power in July (2024) on a 79 year old person after being 10 days late. He was in the hospital and passed away. When we arrived the beginning of August in Texas with the temperature in the 100's, we found the bill and disconnection notice, I called to pay the bill, a man answered and I was told they wouldn't take the money because I was NOT the account holder, I explained that he passed away and we were there to settle his estate. I had to send a copy of the death certificate, copy of the will and my husbands license, BUT they still wouldn't let me pay for it, they said the paperwork had to be reviewed and it would take a few days. I CAN'T BELIEVE A COMPANY WOULD NOT TAKE MONEY TO CLEAR UP AN ACCOUNT. This was on a Thursday, we were only in town until Tuesday, we had to clean the house out without electricity in 100+ degree weather. Finally on Monday I had enough and called back and spoke with a women who was very nice and knowledgeable, she took the payment over the telephone and the power was on in less than 10 minutes. I am so glad I do not live in the state of Texas BECAUSE I would NEVER use this company. I called today to pay the final bill and had a hard time, the first man had no idea what he was doing, it reminded me of the first time I called back in August, 2024, I have been paying this bill monthly since August with no problems because I was using the automated system, BUT because I cancelled the account last month and was waiting for the final bill, the account number was deleted from their system and I had to talk to a person, after talking to him and explaining who I was, my brother in law passed away and I have been paying this for months, he agreed to take the payment but he wanted to charge me a fee for taking the payment and I refused to pay it, so he said he opened the account and was transferring me so I could pay it, BUT he lied, he told me he opened the account so I could pay it and he transferred me back to the automated system, BUT it stated there was no account and transferred me back, I go another man and went through everything again, he waived the fee and knew what he how to let me pay by my credit card.

I spent several hours review EFLs and selecting a new service provider. I signed up for 4Change Energy - I have never been so insulted in my life. After signing up, providing SSN, DL# and a Credit Card - I get an email accusing me of fraud saying I have to call and prove my identity or service (which has not started yet) will be shut off and I will be charged $104 plus a recovery fee of $29 (for service that has no started yet).
So I call, no one speaks english, transferred to a second person who barely speaks understandable english, who proceeds to advise I must send a photograph of my Driver's License with a copy of my mortgage to prove I own the house. I advised, I could send DL, it has address and was promptly advised that I must prove I own the property.
I request transfer to a supervisor who was little help, he could barely speak English, and basically called me a THIEF and a LIAR. When I expressed I felt the email and the tone of the conversation was rude and insulting, I was told to prove I own the property or go find another provider. I asked about the fees I was given some unintelligible response.
Customer service is a joke, full of rude people who do not speak English, have no clue what is going on and to add an additional insult, after calling me a thief and a liar, and my saying I will go find another provider, the supervisor had the audacity to read some script to me about "referrals" wanting me to send my friends and family to be insulted too, I presume.
Bottom line, I am glad I do not need customer service as a customer who actually needs help.
Stay away, avoid at all cost. When company calls you a liar and a thief . . . they are projecting themselves, you have been warned.

This company 4Change Energy is holding me hostage.
I am constantly under a switch hold and I'm not under contract with them. They sent a letter months ago stating the switch hold was removed, but when I try to switch companies, the new companies report there is a switch hold.
Why is 4Change Energy holding me hostage?
Why is 4Change Energy trying to extort more monies from me?
Why does 4Change Energy continue to increase my per kwh charge without notifying me?
I haven't been under a payment plan with 4Change Energy since July 2024.
I need to be released from 4Change Energy, for they are not the electric company that can supply me honestly.

I would definitely go with a different provider. The rate may look cheap, but there are a couple things you should know:
1. Their customer service is really bizarre. Maybe it's all staffed in Mexico or another Spanish speaking country, but there is 100% a language barrier. And I don't think anyone there knows what they're doing. They try to follow scripts, but it really takes a long time to get anything done on the phone. Everything is a drawn out process that involves emails and escalations. And then they might have misunderstood your request, and then the line gets disconnected. Another time when they set up service at one of my houses, they told me that my name was coming up with different addresses and they would have to verify me. I told them it was because I have 2 houses both with electricity serviced by them. They wanted to verify me and told me the best way to do this was send a photo of myself with my drivers license to their email address. Sketchy.
2. There is fine print on the rates. For example, their super low kw rate also has a monthly minimum. Make sure to understand the fine print.
