A must-have resource for world building to create cities, settlements and geographic regions with in depth maps.
Love the support and enthusiasm of World Anvil creators Dimitris and Janet. I felt I had found a creative home and could connect to a community of like-minded creators.
A one-stop smithy for all the tools I would need on my creative quest for world building for my novel.

Superb website. I use it daily and I have gotten much more than my money's worth, even if this is just a hobby. Customer service is excellent; those that I emailed were friendly and approachable and my issues were resolved.

While I haven't had an issue with it as of yet, I feel that reminders of upcoming payments should be given, as this could be incredibly problematic for some.

I'm new to writing for tabletop games, and the prospect of it can be overly daunting, particularly when creating a world from scratch. The resources, abilities, and layout of World Anvil has made it much easier to start, plot, plan, and write my RPG/Novel world. It's also set up in such a way that I can share it with my friends and followers when it's done and we're ready to play - without hassle. Whether you're new or seasoned, this platform is by far one of the best resources out there.

The tools are easy to use, navigate, and understand. Even if they weren't, the tutorials have you covered. Support staff was prompt and kind.

This is an all inclusive website for story tellers, game masters and writers. This is exactly as advertised. This website has made my dream world that I created a vessel to leave my head. I can now share what I have created over the last few years. The interface mostly good with easy to understand controls. I like most things about it, especially the organization of your articles. Its like I created a wiki for my homebrew and I love it.

World Anvil has a support community that is unparalleled in today's online world. I contacted support to receive a clarification about a timeline feature and found that an update was already in process that easily allowed me to continue working. Whether it's Discord or fast replies from the customer support, they've got you covered!

Disgusting. Automatically ‘renewed’ at double the price for something I’ve not found a use for. Didn’t even set up an account until I clicked on the invoice, so can’t see how anyone could cancel this. Autorenewals should be illegal. Avoid giving payment details at all costs.

For world builders, World Anvil is amazing. The only problem is my lack of time. You can upload maps, create stories and timelines… and even cross multiple timelines. What an incredible tool to organize and deepen a story world! I wish I had time to truly develop my world using these tools and give my readers another way to immerse themselves in my worlds.

Pretty good functionality, but less than great formatting. Yearly memberships renew with no warning, and customer service refuses to offer refund even same day of renewal

WorldAnvil is a great resource for me as a DM to create my worlds and campaigns and keep track of everything! I love the ability to have characters/NPCs in multiple campaigns and being able to attach a character sheet is great. Their customer support is also fantastic!

Liana and Dimitris have created an amazing resource with World Anvil and are still giving it the small business personal touch and care. They went out of their way to help me correct a billing issue that I had created, and not only made it right, they went above and beyond. They care about World Anvil and are constantly improving, but more importantly they care about the community. In this day and age, we don't see that as often as we should. I am truly impressed. They have a customer for life.

WorldAnvil makes homebrewing a TTRPG easy, and their customer service went above and beyond for me.

Unfortunately I haven't used much of World Anvil, but my I accidentally let my subscription go through, and Im currently at a difficult time in my life. They were nice enough to refund me the full cost after I explained my situation, and I cannot thank them enough. So this 5* review is for the customer service and not exactly the product itself.

The service works rather well most of the time and there is a lot of functionality in it, however it interacts with reloading tabsin a manner that means, if you were to close your browser with a tab where you are editing something, then have that tab reopen on restarting the browser, it can sometimes reset the article to a previous state, or in some cases, seemingly randomly reset it completely and delete all your progress.

Remember to close every and all tabs you are editing something in in world anvil before shutting down your browser.

If you are like me and have a couple hundred tabs across a few tab groups at all times, this can probably singlehandedly reduce World Anvil's score to 3 stars, maybe even 2 if you are even worse than me, however, I must acknowledge that most people are better at closing their tabs than me, and that World Anvil is very good most of the time, which is why I have changed my score to four stars, even if I have lost both a whiteboard with hundreds of elements in it, and an article with some writing in it, because of such bugs.

Great platform with lots of options for all kinds of creative endeavours from novel writing to creating RPGs, friendly customer service.

There was no reminder that the renewal of my subscription was coming up, so I forgot to cancel. As an apology customer service added six months for free to my new subscription and cancelled auto-renewal for me. I'm told that in the future subscribers will receive a warning before their subscription is renewed.

The service is useful, but sadly they won't offer a refund because they consider the service used immediately at the point of subscription. Then offer a facile offer that basically says 'We'll keep your money just in case' also ignoring the local laws of the service that they're providing. The best thing is, they won't even give you a chance to cancel if you've forgotten about it because they don't send reminders. Which is a bit scammy. They've refunded the money on 02/02/23 as they accused me of having a toxic conversation, after making them aware of legal requirements and contra preferentum and have threatened me with legal action for abusive behaviour.
