I'm changing my review thanks to the amazing branch manager who assisted me in resolving my issues. She went above and beyond and did it all with a smile on her face. Thank you so much, Sydney. The process wasn't pleasant or necessary but it has been resolved and that goes a long way.
I had my first direct deposit held for address verification on December 28th. The branch manager informed me that my account was closed on December 22nd, however, my lease agreement was received when the account was opened and my deposit was accepted on December 27th. I was initially told that it was only a hold but my branch manager could override and distribute my funds so that my family could eat and pay rent. After several days of back-and-forth and waiting for the branch manager, I went to a sister location where the manager was very helpful, but couldn't help me since it had to be done at the branch where the account was initiated. Unfortunately, the branch manager was on vacation all week, leaving me in a difficult situation. What a way to start my New Year!

Worst customer service ever. Went in to get a cashiers check and got told I have to pay a 10$ fee (never had to pay before). Even after agreeing with the fee the woman still tried to have a disagreement with me even after the matter was over. She was very unprofessional and on edge. I had to ask her if we could just proceed with the transaction. She definitely needs more training.

Great service. Money orders and can make deposits at Walmart cash register.

Worst bank to have a business account with. They actually make it hard to give them money when depositing checks and when you need to make a withdrawal of anything over a mediocre amount they have to "order" your cash to withdrawal. I can't speak for all branches but mine is a revolving door of managers and associates who don't seem to have a grasp of what they are doing. Sadly, I have been with them for over a decade and it just gets worse every time I have to step foot in the branch. My suggestion to anyone considering opening either a personal and or business account is to go elsewhere. Just to unprofessional and unpleasant to continue doing anything with.

I went to the brach in Fort Wayn In. earlier in the month to get my last name changed after I have gotten married. The 2 customer service were not very friendly and the one that were helping me didn't even smile at all. I gave her my marriage license and DL and SS# but which she took to the manager and said that my marriage license is not good and I need a different one. I let her know that I use this marriage certificate with all of my accounts including 2 other banks and social security to get my ss card and everyone took it with no problem. She said I had to wait for approval and don't know how long it will be. While sitting waiting I notice how these ladies talked to other customers that came in and it was not good customer service at all. I work for a bank in the business department and if we talk to our customer that way we would get fired. I decided that I will be closing this account.

I absolutely love Woodforest, so I have a very poor banking history, and I needed a second chance and Woodforest came to the rescue with there second chance checking.
Woodforest has been beyond amazing in every way possible. Customer service has been great, my local branch is beyond phenomenal, and the mobile app is pretty great as well. I have ZERO complaints about them!

Here's the text of my complaint filed with the Comptroller of the Currency:
On November 9, 2023, I opened a checking account with a $2,500 check drawn on Wells Fargo Bank and that check cleared Wells Fargo on November 10, 2023. In the past week, I've tried to resolve an issue where trying to login to the website from my home computers through either Wi-Fi or Ethernet at home gave me an error message that I was not in a region that could access my account online. My ISP is in San Marcos, TX and, since I have a dynamic IP address, it recently changed to the San Marcos geolocation, which is within Woodforest's North American region that is allowed to login (they have bank branches in the Austin, TX area, so that shouldn't be an issue). I tried many times to resolve it with both my ISP (they can't do anything about the bank) and with the bank's technical department, presumably at their HQ in The Woodlands, TX. Finally, I spoke with Jay early in the week of November 12, 2023 (the fellow who opened my account) and he said they would waive the $25 fee normally charged for closing the account in the first 6 months. When I opened the account, he had said that I had to wait 7 days to access the money, so I told him that I'd be in on Friday, November 17, 2023, which is today, to either withdraw everything but $1 and leave the account open for 6 months or close it altogether. This afternoon, I brought back the folder he gave me when I opened the account and a screenshot of the problem. He stood in the background and sort of spoke on my behalf, but the woman waiting on me started first by telling me I needed to change the settings in my computer. I retired 4.5 years ago after over 12 years with Whitestone REIT in Houston, 8 of those years as Vice President, Information Systems, so I RAN the IT department for a corporation listed on the NYSE. Then, she tells me it's 7 to 10 WORKING DAYS and I'm sure she was going to take that $25, when she said she'd have to get a manager's approval. The manager was RIGHT THERE (if any of the 5 employees standing there was the manager - there isn't a side office in that location). At that point, I said, "just send me the damned check," and walked out. I got to my car when a call from "Western Union" came up on my phone. Apparently, they occupy an old Western Union office or they do double-duty there, because that's what always came up when Jay called me. I answered the phone and repeated, "just send me the damned check," but she (the teller) told me I left my Texas Driver's License, so I went back into that Walmart location (they're owned by the Waltons, so they're mostly inside of Walmarts). I hoped that they would give me my money when I went back in but, instead, they were all smiles, TAUNTING ME EVEN MORE. Again, I repeated "send me the damned check," because it was obvious that they weren't going to give me my money. I intend to complain again, if they deduct the $25 from my withdrawal. In fact, I doubt they will even send me the money and I'll have to go back into the branch and they'll probably give me just $2,475 of my $2,500. And I WILL submit another complaint at that time.

I've never had a problem with woodforest, good bank. And they aren't constantly compromised like all the other ones.

Horrible they charged me 60 dollars for being overdrafted twice even tho it was in the same day. No overdraft forgiveness it was an error but this bank despite my overdraft penalty is expensive and horrible customer service

I made a cash deposit on February 25,2023 approximately 2:25 pm and at 3pm I attempted to pay my auto insurance payment online . I kept getting an error message stating that something went wrong . So I then attempted to use the automated system phone system and it said your payment can’t be processed at this time. So at approximately 7:30 pm a deer struck my vehicle causing major damage to the vehicle! Apparently the bank experienced a system failure preventing posting /processing of account activity. That wasn’t resolved until February 27 2023. I have been attempting to get woodforest to repair my vehicle but they refused because they’re insisting that prove to them that I attempted to pay my insurance and it failed . Only because they know I can’t prove that because it’s there system that’s already malfunctioning then naturally I’m not going to be able to that but I can prove the time I made the cash deposit, the time of the accident, and the cost of repairs I had to make out of pocket etc… my vehicle has severe transmission damage and front end damage plus a whole lot more.
I’m a disabled woman with multiple disabilities that requires me to have a working vehicle at all times for doctors appointments in multiple locations throughout the state but do to the refusing to fix my vehicle which is in operable because of their refusal to repair the damages . I’m suffering physically ,emotionally, mentally and financially!
Never use this bank the customer service is horrible I would rate them -1 .

Terrible..this bank has been holding thousands of dollars of mine because of transaction that was declined. The merchant has even verified they are t collecting funds and it’s been 2 weeks and my money still hasn’t been returned to my account by woodforest. This issue has happen before and it’s rediculous. Please stay far away from this bank they are no good. From the customer service to the branches. Will be filing small claims suit if my money isn’t returned soon. Very shady and bad business. No bank lets anything pend for this long without removing it from your account. Will be closing account

Very poor customer service. Tellers have an attitude that they could care less if you close your account and take your business elsewhere. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told there isn't one on site and would have them call me. After leaving my number a "market manager" called me and pretty much had the same attitude. She basically told me that her teller would never speak to me the way I reported. I am closing my account as soon as the branch opens this morning.

I've been with this bank for some years now and are very happy with the service that I receive. Extremely friendly and professional service by this branch. I fully recommend coming here for your banking needs! I look forward to going to this branch once a week to handle all of my business and personal needs. All my drivers (all but one) have joined the Woodforest bank family. Ciji, Aieleia, and Alexis are all a pleasure to talk to while they are handling your transactions. Personally, I like the Woodforest bank service very much. Thanks....Mrs. Johnson

If you want problems, this is the bank for you! They refuse to fix their website, it's been months and I still cannot log in. Out of the blue it stopped working, I'm told I have to drive to a branch to change my password which is supposed to fix the problem of their website not sending out authenticator codes. You get a discover debit card, that not everyone accepts. To get the MC debit card you have to wait for a week or two, and maybe have to pay for it if you want to replace the crappy discover one, then they choose the pin number for you which cannot be changed. If you forget it, you have to pay for another card.
If you start a new job try to cash your check, you must deposit it, and then wait for 2 weeks for your money. They tell you a few days, it's 2 weeks every single time!!!
They do not accept Zelle, unless you get the MC, which again - you have to wait and pay for, and the pin issues.
I have been dealing with this joke of a bank for several years now. I have other accounts at other banks and never have these issues. I need to get the hell out of here. It is so frustrating.
This company is so far behind in technology it's laughable. What kind of bank operates like this in 2023???
No wonder they are in Walmart - they are cheap, generic versions of a bank.
