Had an absolute BLAST! But seriously, I can warmly recommend this hostel.
Great stay in Vienna! <3 We spent three nights at the Wombat Hostel in Vienna for our vacation. The beds were comfortable, everything was very clean, and the shower water was nice and hot during the winter (10/10). The communal areas were great, and the bar had a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!
Stayed at the London wombats, it was a great experience! Staff are friendly and the facilities are clean!
Only issue is it can get hot in the rooms, there are fans on each bed but it still gets hot.
Be aware of your belongings in Budapest,
AC was not working, and was very dirty.
The crew, either cleaners, employees, or someone "with access to the room steals"
I was alone in a room 4 days, and some belongings were stolen.
Very Rude service from the manager.
i would not recommend you to stay here, i don't want some other person go through my bad experience with their service.
the service is very lousy that in an urgent situation they would only advise to email the concern despite im in the area already, i followed the process and email just to make a written report but there was no action made.
It only shows that given an unfortunate scenario, you cannot trust them to help you and they simply do not care.
no one is helpful because they would answer that they were busy. i was very disappointed on how they deal with my missing rings. (Not just ring, my wedding&engagement ring)
its like the housekeeping staff are not part of the wombats team that the receptionist cannot contact them straightaway.
And they (housekeeping)do not surrender at the end of the shift if something was found. Because of “busyness” that they claim. They would just gather all things found and when “they have the time” convenient with them, thats the time they would report. What would be the guarantee that they will not be tempted to not to return to the rightful owner those found items.
No documentation of those found things as well.
Poor poor service. I am really upset.
I stayed in Budapest, avoid, I forgot some valuables in the bathroom, the room was empty, and my property was stolen.
The answer from the manager was "it was not stolen here, call the police, they will do nothing for you".
Very rude, avoid this place.
Spent 3 nights at the Wombat Hostel in Vienna for the marathon. The beds and bedding was basic, but it was all very clean. Really nice communal areas, friendly staff, and a good bar. Exceptional coffee too! Would definitely recommend!
We were a party of eleven; four adults and seven children. Absolutely loved our stay at Wombats London. Very clean, great facilities, perfect location to sight see around London. We particularly loved the communal kitchen and big tables in the bar/ eating area. The kids enjoyed the table football games, and big comfy chill out cushions with TV. Plus the safe luggage storage on the last day was brilliant.
Have marked it down a star due the breakfast offering being terrible. The food options were very poor (think 1/4 of Travel Lodge's - the 'fruit' consisted of a bowl of apples for breakfast). The girl serving breakfast was also incredibly rude and miserable. I worked overseas in tourism/ hotels for many years, and now own a coffee shop. I would never dream of treating holiday makers and/or my customers in such a manner - terrible customer service. We stayed for three nights; we had breakfast the first day, but ate elsewhere for the next two days. £5 x 11 customers, x2 extra days = an easy £110 lost. You're missing a trick there Wombats!
The mattresses were also old and uncomfortable. Lots of stains of them (I tried not to think about what the big brown stains on a couple of the mattresses were!).
Overall it was a fantastic stay though and I'd definitely recommend.
The wombats in Munich is very expensive. It was the most expensive dorm I’ve ever stayed in. However, the staff was the best I’ve encountered. They were nice, accommodating, and generous. The hostel itself is decent but the staff is outstanding. I’d absolutely recommend a visit.
Went to the budapest wombat hostel... Go bit by fleas or bedbugs. Reported it on the first day, and was told it would be dealt with. It wasn't though.
Second time I went, talked to a different person who gave me a different room and helped me decontaminate my clothes.
The hostel is nice, but I don't like paying to be bitten.
