Terrible Experience with Wizz Air - Refused Refund for Cancelled Flight

I recently had the unfortunate experience of booking a flight with Wizz Air, and I can confidently say this is the worst airline I have ever dealt with. My flight was cancelled (W4 6303 MXP - LGW 21/07/2024), and when I contacted their customer service for a refund, they refused, citing "extraordinary circumstances" as the reason.

This airline seems to have a very loose interpretation of what constitutes extraordinary circumstances, using it as a blanket excuse to avoid refunding customers. I find this completely unacceptable and deeply frustrating, as it leaves passengers like me out of pocket for services we never received, on top of being stuck abroad for 2 days.

The customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, showing no empathy for the inconvenience and stress caused by their cancellation. It's clear that Wizz Air prioritises their bottom line over customer satisfaction.

I strongly advise anyone considering flying with Wizz Air to think twice. There are plenty of other airlines that treat their customers with respect and honour their commitments. Avoid Wizz Air if you want a hassle-free travel experience.

It must be a scam!

It must be a scam!

They lost our suitcase a month ago - yet they state that the suitcase isn’t lost to prevent/delay compensation. This is also halting my ability to claim on insurance. The customer service isn’t existent and we get no reply. People on the phone (after paying £1.44 per minute) besides the scrip share no insight or advice. They do not know what process is to follow for customers whose suitcase has been lost and keep on referring to the 30 days timeframe to answer - failing to understand that legally it’s the 21 days that matter and that trigger compensation. Really appalling.

terrible experience

Mterrible experience. They cancelled the flight and did not offered any reason. They said they dont have any alternative flight back and then they kept us 7 hours in the airport until they offered us a hotel for the night at 70km distance from airport and they did not offered any transport back to the airport in the morning. They did not offered us water or food during the waiting time as the law says. The staff operators there where very unpolite and rude with us and shouted many times at all of us when asking for information. They did not refund our expenses because of the cancelled flight and we ended up spending more than 500 euros to come back home, I almost lost my job because it took 3 days to return home. Wizz air are a
company who dont respect any law and any of theyr customers. The time we waited for accomodation in hotel there were mothers with small babies and children and also they did not care to offer food or water to them. And we waited 7 hours to get a translort to a hotel and first time they sent a minivan with 8 places and after another hour of waiting they send a normal big bus to take us all to hotel. I will never fly this company and I hope this company will dissapear as soon as posible for the terrible things they do and the way they treat people and mothers with small childrens.

Useless

Useless. Flight late then cancelled - with no promised email & no push notification on the app. Waited many hours. Total chaos at airport. Staff promised hotel voucher waited hours & got nothing. No substitute flight nothing. Lots of loud voices & waving arms then staff went home leaving people stranded. Had to hammer my credit card staying 2 further nights at airport & booking a new flight. Please do not ever use this company they are a complete joke of a setup . Not even a manager. I have evidence

One of the worst airline I have flown…

One of the worst airline I have flown so far. We were family of four travelling from Dalaman, Turkey to London .we had a nightmare flight. Although our baggage was much below the limit still they made us fit in the baggage stand twice while checking and also during the boarding process. Our fellowpassengers who had bought the extra baggage were asked to remove the extra few grams and after all that they were made check in instead of allowed in the Cabin! Not to mention Staff were most rudest at wizz Air, Dalaman! By now the flight was already delayed by an hour, by now we are all tired and exhausted. After the boarding process ,we were made to stand in a queue for atleast 15 minutes pls understand this was a late night flight. Once inside the flight there was another 1 hour further delay to take off.I would never recommend this flight to anybody, I know it's expected low cost airline, but Wizz standards the lowest by far by any cost airline.

Horrible airline with long delays

Horrible airline with long delays. I flew from London Gatwick to Istanbul on 28 June 2024. It was delayed 4 hours going and 2 hours coming back on 1 July. They offered a small pack of peanuts and a cup of tap water( yellowish color) as compensation ! Can you believe it?

Discusting company rips you off where they can

My partner had to just pay £107.83 to change names on the ticket. He realised the mistake literally minutes after (!!) he purchased the tickets online and it is mind-blowing that there is no option to correct something at least within an hour. It`s an online purchase and I`m not saying that he did not make a mistake, but correcting something does not require any extra work from any of the staff it is literally O N L I N E and should be able to be corrected on a person`s account. Even if they want to charge us for correcting a mistake I get it, but £100????? Absolute joke...Unfortunately, we have no option where we fly from and to but WizzAir...

Cheap airline offering cheap and unpleasant travel experience

We have flown with WizzAir for the past couple of years and I must admit that it has rarely been a pleasant experience: 1. prohibitively long queues where 5-6 check-in staff serve around 5 flights (maybe 200-300 people?), 2. extremely uncomfortable seats, 3. NEVER EVER on time with 2-3 hour delays announced or unannounced, 4. unreliable website and 5. practically non-existent customer service. I keep asking myself "why?" I suppose it's the low cost but it's definitely NOT worth the hassle and ruined start and finish of a holiday. I definitely do not recommend WizzAir if anyone wants a civilised travel experience.

If you are traveling with a small bag…

If you are traveling with a small bag of feathers and like to overspend at every phase on a 'budget' airline ticket, then Wizz Air could be for you.

Just this week, I travelled from Luton to Praga on a return ticket that once we were stung with oversized luggage costs both ways, despite traveling with just a regular Ryanair small 'cabin' sized case, meant our tickets exceeded £250(!) all in.

This included a totally stealth set of fees consisting of "service charge" and an "Airport duty fee" which totalled at £34, £17 each.

All of this considered means that an 'ECONOMY' air ticket doesn't actually exist at Wizz Air, because it would be near impossible to find a ticket under £100 to any destination with these stealth charges included, once you've added a single cabin bag or booked your seats out/in.

You cannot travel on the basic 'no additional baggage' without substantial extra fees or charges with Wizz, unless you are carrying only a single A4 piece of paper to your destination.

I'd previously flown on a brand new Airbus A321 just last year with Wizz which had a simple 12v USB slot to charge a device but this time, our A319 didn't have this making it the most basic of basic no frills, no enjoyment air travel - which considering the price, is pretty desperate.

The standard of flight, items included and overall experience is in fact worse than Ryanair (the benchmark of air-cattle standard), in all regards. It would be hard to even commit to a 1 star rating considering compassion shown by staff at the gate, the support and entire process a customer is thrown through to get from online booking to walking onto the flight (with fleeced credit card, wallet and purse – at least they’re lighter for their Co2 footprint stats).

This also doesn't exclude the 35 minute booking desk system outage when queuing at the check-in desk at Václav Havel Praga airport (which you MUST do, because e-tickets are not provided in this case so you can’t skip the check-in desk) to which the queue didn't move a millimetre whilst we were stood waiting, with no informative customer service updates by text or email, where the people stood unfortunately at the back of the queue (but at the airport correctly in-time) were in grave danger of missing the flight gate closure period.

Considering the time between common airport arrival time and gate closing would be apprx 2 hours in the real world, this means almost 30% of your window would be immediately eaten up, despite being totally the airlines fault and nothing to do with the traveller. Getting to any modern day airport more than that turnaround is in fact discouraged by pretty much all airlines to reduce volume & crowding.

If Wizz have given you an upfront ticket cost, treble it. Because that's closer to what you'll end up paying, for a pretty sub-par airline experience, without a question.

You can certainly empathise as to why these flying-cowboys come out at the bottom 2 or 3 of nearly all air vendor surveys, Europe wide. Quite some achievement.

My preference if you are looking to book with Wizz air would be;

1) walk
2) go by horseback
3) swim
4) take a stripped out Prius (for luggage space)
5) take Ryanair (no, seriously...)
6) Postpone your trip, or consider not traveling

Avoid at all costs!!

Avoid at all costs!!! Absolutely nothing positive to say about my experience flying Wizzair Luton to Lisbon for the first time. It's all about seeing how much money they can get off you. The staff are rude, the seats are super uncomfortable. As for the food I can only comment on the risotto which I ordered which frankly is amongst the most disgusting things I have ever eaten.

You are offically the worst airline…

You are offically the worst airline I've ever had to deal with. I travel a lot but good god did you make it difficult. Not only did you lie about early check in because that's not what happened, but then your terrible app did not let me check in either because you were hoping I would pay your ridiculous fees to check in at the airport.
