Windstream Customer Service

First, I have been customer for over 30 years with only two breaks in 30 years, Winstream you cannot contact them if you are exsisting customer and when you do there customer suuport team is the worst ever seen, They just dont care, they have no competition out here so they just dont care, You will get someone out of country and they have no clue, Ask for manager and you can forget it, No help, They need to care about there customers again, Once they get some competition out here everyone will change from them, This is all over facebook on how terrible they are treating there customers. SO EVERYONE BEWARE OF Windstream.

Windstream is bait and switch hooking.

I had Windstream when I bought my current house in Byron, GA. All they did was increase the service cost incessantly. Finally, I found another local one which has kept the excellent service for 5 years now. Stay away from Windstream's bait and switch offer. You will have a difficult time getting unhooked.

Don't Waste Your Time

Made a mistake and tried Windstream Kinetic services, this time in another state. I figured I would give them a try since they couldn't service my street in Georgia, and it ended up being a big mistake. I was lied to about receiving a $200 prepaid gift card, they told me I wasn't "eligible" after I followed up with them about 5 months later. This is false advertising, so beware new customers; chances are that you will not receive that gift card. I was also lied to about how "fast" the service would be, it is the worst service that I have ever received. I will be switching back to my old carrier.

Sure wish you had less than 1 star for Windstream

What went wrong is the same thing with Windstream that has always been wrong. Customer services agents cannot speak English-I can't speak whatever the hell that is they are speaking but I am not supposed to be servicing them, am I? When I asked for a manager, I was told in a rude manner that no manager was in office. I mentioned my surprise at this and she said, " Well do you want me to lie to you?" Pretty sure she just did. At least the guys from India named Kevin are not rude. This new bunch let you know in no uncertain manner that you are not a valued customer. Windstream, I pray daily for a choice in my rural area. I will run so fast to another company that you and "Rochelle" will think I am the wind!

Zero stars

Windstream charged us over$1,900.00/month for an unused fax line. They called it a high usage line. It was our mistake for missing the notice of the price increase but, once discovered, they refused to work with us. Each time we called, we reached India and every person just recited the fact that we were notified of this increase. We repeatedly asked for contact information for an American office and were told over & over that they did not have that information. They have now turned us over to a collection agency and these people will not give us any phone numbers, email addresses or postal address of anyone in the company. They are literally getting away with robbery. Stay far, far away from them.

The absolute worst

The absolute worst. This company is nothing but lying, incompetent boobs. They advertise on their Kinetic service 1000G/mo. for $39.99. I had just moved from a major metropolitan area and didn’t get near that to a rural Appalachian neighborhood. I had heard about the grants being given to increase internet coverage in rural areas. Ok, I called and was told that was correct, got service installed for the first time at the address. The technician (who was really good) thought that was what he was installing, but did recommend Spectrum. Less than a week later, and after the service had already dropped once, I got a bill for the service. The bill indicated I was getting 15.5Mbps! I ran a speed test. Yep, 15.5Mbps. I called to cancel. When I explained why, the girl says “Well, high-speed service is not available in your area.” So they just lie. When I told her to cancel the service I was told they’d send instructions for returning the modem. A month later, they never did that either. Today I received a bill for service I don’t even have! What’s funny is that my landlord told me a few days ago that they did the that to him. He never had the service at all. I now have Spectrum at 100Mbps and working great. I now do speed tests on a regular basis. Don’t waste your time with Windstream or Kinetic.

We used windstream services for over 30…

We used windstream services for over 30 years. From the 1980'S thru the millennium, the services got worse, assistance got even lower. 6 months ago we dropped our services because we were told if we used windstream, we had to pay for the copper wire. Our phone services was terrible, as well as customer service, and the services men that came to our house. We're on Pearlcomm now, thank the Lord. Windstream is a fast sinking ship.

Properly Damage

I cannot speak of their internet service as I will never ever be a customer. While installing fiber optic in my neighborhood, without my knowledge, they had a backhoe in my front yard and left it with deep ruts. They also dug a hole that could injure someone and left it with a cone on top. All attempts to remedy the site have been in vain.

Windstream sales person pitched 30 days…

Windstream sales person pitched 30 days free service and 30+ mbps internet. Spectrum was not yet installed in my rural location and it was goign to be over a month to get installed. Went with windstream as a temporary internet becuase i work from home. First problem even before they finished installing the s****y DSL modem, the tech told me that It'd be more like 20 to 25 mbps internet. Ok so, i thought i could live with that. once installed I was lucky to get 10 to 13 mpps at any time of the day. Sure it worked but far off from the touted 30+ that the salesperson pitched. Got spectrum installed for the 1gb internet and cancelled the windstream account, which they charged me for anyway which should have been free since that's what they advertised or at least the lying salesperson advertised. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THESE GUYS they make their money (base on other reviews too) on Scamming people, lying and over projecting what they can actually do.

Slow, no plans to improve, outsourced uninformed support.

We have a lot on our network, few cameras, 3 phones, two desktops, two TV's, and a while ago, I was getting really awful ping, like 800+ just after 10, like clockwork, support told me it was due to the amount of connected devices, because it somehow made sense to the guy I spoke to which was my first clue that he was an idiot.

Turns out, one of our phones updated, the only iPhone user in the house, and it was doing backups nightly which is when the issues occurred, and with the absolutely garbage 1.5mb/s upload speed they give you. You can effectively ddos your entire residence by uploading a single picture, from your phone, if a picture upload kills it, it'd be defenseless against a full phone sync, and the awful speed just makes it last even longer.

I've been stuck at 25mb/s down, 1.5mb/s up, awful uninformed support, and, the worst part is, they're the only ISP in my area that offers a steady connection with no cap, only other options were Hughes net, and Viasat. Windstream, regardless of how awful it was, was the best option.

They do offer gig, just, not to my area, we aren't that special, but they have no trouble charging me the exact same amount they charge their gig customers, while I'm over here ddosing the household every time I send a meme to a friend.

Our electric company, of all people, is becoming an ISP, and their "foot in the door" starting speeds, are 100mb/s up and down for 50 a month, 1000mb/s up and down for 80 a month, and 2000mb/s up and down for 100 a month, going for the gig plan, my monthly bill won't change at all.

For all it's faults, Windstream could have been worse, but they've used their position as being the best while still being awful to use us as a cash cow, offering subpar service for too long, so I'll be happy to finally jump ship.

Don't waste your money on WindStream

Don't waste your money on WindStream. We have been without internet for a week. The lying customer service rep (who obviously had English as a third language) promised we would have a new modem by this past Monday - never came. We will be dropping this company in favor of a reliable, solid provider, that #1 doesn't lie, and #2 actually has U.S.-based customer service. Bye wind stream, you deserve the 1-star rating you have.

They could never give me proper internet.

Had Kinetic for 6 weeks at my apartment. Never was able to get decent speed. Only about 5 mbps or lower, and virtually no upload speed. Online technicians and in person technician could do nothing to help. Most of them did not document the service tickets. Tried canceling my account; the girl who said she would cancel it disconnected at the end of the call. She even said they were working on "getting more fiber" in my area - It would have been extremely helpful to know up front that there is not enough fiber! The online portal won't let you cancel autopay or remove your payment method. This company is extremely unprofessional, did not deliver whatsoever, has charged me regardless, and if they do not cancel my account as I requested, I'll be filing a legal claim.

Spectrum to Windstream same issues

Switched from Spectrum to Windstream because of outages and lack of support. Had Winstream for less than a month and has been down three times and is out now. Same as Spectrum, no customer service, no way to contact for outage before 6 am and awful connection.

Have had Windstream for years. The connection is good, no complaints there. But recently many people's Windstream emails were hacked and compromised. Accounts were stolen. They have not addressed this issue at all. They need to compensate people for this happening, it was a mess to fix, took weeks!!! Also the monthly cost keeps increasing constantly!!! Try calling their customer service and they connect you to somewhere in the Caribbean!!!! What in the hell is up with that??? They can't have their customer service dept in the US ofA???????? UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

RUN FROM Windstream

Who knows how this pathetic company is still in business? Their customer service is all based in Jamaica and they are so
unprofessional/rude that it is normal to hear children laughing or crying and other times the CS agent has her dog barking so that she can barely hear what I am saying then when I say if you work from home in a different country, at least be professional to not think this is ok or when I ask if they are working from home proceed to tell me to get over it! What? Excuse me Windstream must have gone off the deep end and needs reorganization or to go out of business because no part of that is acceptable. I called 13 times over 6 months to inquire where my $200 Visa card promo was and they always played games saying it must be a computer mistake but they would say that they could manually override and process the gift card and it would be mailed out within a week over and over again at different times but I still never received it. All blatant lies and games by Windstream-then my bill would be a different amount each month and they would charge a $6.95 customer service charge that I did not authorizepuld not return those fees they charged and Windstream is a FLOP company that outsources everything to a foreign country and the only thing that they are proficient in handling is delaying, excuses and say anything to get you appeased but never follows through or solves any problem-just lip service! Windstream is full of Con-Artist and needs to be regulated because they don't care about all the bad service or outright lies they mislead customers!

Not returning credit monies owed!

Disconnected service in the beginning of 2022 and was to receive a refund of $6,821.60 for my business. Both myself and accounting clerk called no less than 20 times and have spent hours on hold and trying to get this resolved. I have invoices from 2022 and 2023 showing the credit owed.I received a check today in the amount of $5,659.43 (short of what was owed by $1,162.17). I spoke to three customer service representatives telling ;me they made an adjustment to my old bill. This is unacceptable that they now can say that they did not charge me properly prior to my disconnection. This is just an attempt not to pay me in full.
I never asked for interest on my money that they have held onto for 14 months!

I will be going to the Better Business Bureau!
