Delays and extra costs. We are refurbishing our house and we ordered a large quantity of Amtico flooring and some carpets. Wilton don't fit these but recommended a person to do the work. He went AWOL for several weeks and when he could be contacted kept giving pathetic excuses for why he couldn't turn up and actually do the job. In the end we had to get him to return the adhesive and other materials we had paid for and get our builder to lay the floor instead. This put the whole project back several weeks and that meant we incurred a lot of extra storage and other costs. The floor installer has been very unpleasant and has refused to return a large sum we paid him. Wilton carpets claimed they were horrified but they have done very little to help us. If I need any more flooring or carpets I will use a company that doesn't wash its hands of any problems with the fitting process.
This is one star more than I wanted to give. First of all we needed a quote for some Karndean Flooring for downstairs, a chap came to measure up and gave me a quote, I phoned them about a week later to place the order, the woman may be the co-owner I’m not quite sure seemed very disinterested when she explained to me that the fitting time was four to six weeks unfortunately I was not able to wait that long and I asked her if she could give me the square meters of the room that was measured, the answer was that she couldn’t give me that information because I am going somewhere else to have it done, it wasn’t so much the answer I got but the attitude I got which I felt was very unprofessional, I got a sense that she doesn’t like the job and doesn’t want to serve the public, as a co-owner it was an attitude I felt was unhelpful and especially as I have already spent a lot of money in that company before. I’m clearly going to take my business elsewhere in future.
The worst shamble of rubbish you could ever deal, with zero customer service from the manager who is incompatent beyond belief, I feel sorry for the very polite woman that works with this clown
We went to the store in search of a rug because our previous experience was very positive. We saw a rug we liked that was priced at £389 and had a 10% promotional offer (they all did.). We offered £10 below the promotional price and we’re told no. We left, considered our decision and went back to buy. We noticed the rug has some marks but the assistant seemed distracted and did not engage. We asked if they could supply a 1st quality rug, which they could but couldn’t confirm delivery until head office opened the following day. We were called but luckily didn’t place an order. Our experience was luke warm, disinterested and dismissive. We bought the same rug elsewhere for a considerably lower price.
We have used Wilton in Hedge End Southampton for many years and always found them to be very helpful.
Would recommend them to anyone which I do regularly.
After my experience with Wilton Carpets, I would advise anyone using them
to make sure that they get the carpet they chose before paying the account. Also get a detailed statement of account.
