Our Wedding Day - 19/12/25

Having booked our wedding at Wildes, we were disappointed to receive an email a few months later advising that the prices were to be increased for any additional guests however, this didn't prevent us from having the most amazing day of our lives.
I guess the lesson learned here was to check the small print.
The pre-wedding meetings and, day itself all went to plan - massive thank you's to both Liberty and Jack for your input, expertise and, dedication beforehand and, of course, throughout the day/evening itself.
The venue (Bowden Chapel) was the perfect setting for us, due to the number of people invited and, suited the live music we hired - thank you Andy O'Brien for a fantastic day and, evening of entertainment.
The food was on time, tasty and hot, the service staff were polite and, helpful - again Jack Kirby leading this team of people. It was also a nice touch from Liberty, despite not working to call in and see us.
To conclude, an absolutely beautiful day that couldn't have gone any better - thank you everyone ❤️

Attend a wedding here there were…

Attend a wedding here there were 2weddings on the day no meet and greet so we ended up at the wrong bar with wrong wedding. Asked if they had a room to get changed as we had traveled far only to be told it's £50 extra to book in 2 hrs early. Wedding food was awful looked like sick on a plate. Dried up chicken. And gravy tasted like a pan full of fat. Dinner service was a shambles staff were miserable and no customer service skills. Evening buffet was not good at all not worth the money left it out 40mins then took it all away. Bar staff rude and again no customer service. Rooms not worth the money bath panel all rotting to wood shower screen mouldy. Drink prices are extortionate definitely would no recommend at all

Avoid this horror

Paid £239 for a traditional room, was absolutely disgusting and dirty, from carpet stains, ripped curtains and filthy furniture, could wait for venue to start to escape the horror however that was very short lived from the outrageous prices of drinks to absolutely appalling service from bar staff,no smile, slamming drinks down clearly over worked.
So disappointed would not visit again or recommend

Disgusting overpriced room

We attended a wedding reception here in September and booked a room for the night. They put us in the old building and the room was disgusting. The curtains were ripped, a drawer was hanging off of its runner, the lamp shade was broken and the chair was filthy and stained. The room just looked horrible, not what I expected for £239. Ive stayed in nicer budget hotels for less than half this price. The drinks are ridiculously priced and the staff were very slow, arrogant and rude and had a knock on affect with the atmosphere. I think the hotel needs to update the old side of the building or drastically reduce their prices. I definitely won't be staying here again

The only constructive comment i can…

The only constructive comment i can make is AVOID.
Attended a wedding and the food was served over an hour late.
Reception in the evening was so hot we asked if air conditioning can be turned on to which they did but only hot air came out..
We had to open the fire doors for fresh air and got told to close them.
Rooms in original building do not warrant the money. Very outdated cobwebs, burn hole in the carpet.
Only 1 towel per couple ( we did ask for more and received them ) .
Attention to detail is non existent.
Apart from a couple of staff who were very nice the rest were so miserable felt like they didn't want to be there.
Heard a gentleman ask for another small bread roll to get told we don't have any more.
Definitely will not be staying hear again all a facade on the website.

Went for my mothers birthday

Went for my mothers birthday , the food was below standard and very disappointing, the pork was so tough my mum couldn’t cut hers and the roast potatoes were awful tasted reheated and hard , not cooked in beef dripping as advertised and the rest of the food barely warm , I’ve worked in catering and hospitality for years and to serve such poor quality food is unacceptable
The front of house were helpful and I felt embarrassed for , then a 25% discount was taken off the inedible roast meals which basically is a joke because the whole experience was ruined
Certainly won’t return , it’s a shame as it used to serve such good food , but reading other reviews I should have taken heed

Truly disgusting behaviour of the staff

Truly disgusting behaviour of the senior staff-to see the manager verbally and physically intimidating an older woman wedding guest was horrendous. To then threaten another guest who stepped in to try and diffuse the situation was shocking.
Never mind terrible customer service, the manager and wedding coordinators were lacking simple human decency.
Shame on you, never have I seen such rude and disrespectful behaviour from hotel staff. And shame on your employers for not taking action on what from the other reviews I have now read, is a recurring situation.

Would give this a zero star if we…

Would give this a zero star if we could. We had the worst experience of customer service at Wildes Inn in Chesterfield we have ever had.
We booked the only room left, which was a suite on a Tuesday night. The room was 111 on the first floor. We
arrived to the sound of a wedding in the function room below. The music echoed through the room and we had an early start. We politely asked the reception staff if we could move and were offered the only remaining room which had not yet checked in. The situation was being dealt with calmly until the gentleman next to us got involved. He sniped 'what did we expect from a wedding venue hotel'. We explained we would have expected the venue to be sufficiently sound proofed so not to disturb other guests. He claimed they were and refused to accompany us to the room to discuss it. Yet the guy on reception agreed the room was very noisy when he came to visit us a little later. The other gentleman then got very obnoxious and threatened to throw us out. After receiving a barrage from this guy we asked who he was and was shocked to learn that he was the Managing Director. The way he dealt with us was nothing short of disgusting. He did not apologise once for the noise and had no respect whatsoever for the customer.
We had only been at the hotel a couple of hours when eventually we
decided to leave. But before we could leave, the full payment for the room was debited from our account. We spoke to the reception staff who said the Manging Director had authorised it and would not be issuing a refund.
Terrible service, poor manner, no respect for customer, all about the short term money gains.

Red Letter Day Booking y phone stateing we had …

Booked a room by phone stateing we had a red letter day voucher worth £70 and nothing was said Arrived at the hotel and went to the room looking forward to our stay While in the room the phone rang asking for the email address of who bought the red letter day voucher which we gave them and heard nothing more When we went down to have our meal we called at reception thinking everything was OK only to be told we could not use the voucher as we had to have booked the room on line on the red letter day app As we had previously booked a room on line with a red letter day voucher and shown it at reception and everything was OK this didn't make any sense but nothing we could do Just think on making the booking in the first place this should have been explained Obviously this put a damper on our stay A stay which should have been more memorable but in a good way Perhaps more staff training on this would help

Not Disabled Friendly!!!!

Attended this Inn/hotel for an event we were invited to. When you first arrive all seems good if you are not disabled. There is no signage on entry to indicate where the disabled parking is. Upon asking at reception we were told it was at the rear of the property and you needed to access it via the second entrance. Was not aware there was a second entrance that could be used. No signage! The reception entrance while has steps down to it there is a ramp that allows you to go around however, there is no drop crub on the front of the entire building to allow you to access it. Once inside the surroundings are lovely and well appointed. It is all flat and doors basically wide enough for a wheelchair. While there we spotted 2 mens and 2 ladies toilets but nothing for disabled. When we queried this at reception they stated it was just inside the room we were in and on the left. Sadly the only door on the left as you enter goes to the kitchen. During the evening we never were able to locate a disabled toilet. I can say that sadly while they may say they are accessible they are far from disabled friendly. If you are disabled I would give this place a miss.
