!!!scammer alert!!!
I found When the Bank Says No after being declined by another lender, and initially I thought I had finally found a company that could genuinely help me.
My mortgage adviser, Danielle, listened to my circumstances, requested my documents and, after reviewing them, issued me an Agreement in Principle. I then instructed her to proceed with the full application.
Later that evening, at around 7pm, Danielle called me while submitting the application and told me I had received a full mortgage offer from Atom Bank. I was absolutely delighted and relieved. The offer was issued extremely quickly, and I believed my case had been properly assessed.
I was then immediately asked to pay their £1,495 fee, which I paid. Before paying, I specifically asked Danielle what would happen if the mortgage offer was withdrawn and they could not find me another lender. She confirmed that I would receive a full refund, and I have this confirmation in writing. This is all their trick to get your money I believe.
The following day, they requested further documents, which I provided. After that, communication became extremely frustrating. I repeatedly had to chase for updates by phone and email and struggled to get clear answers about what was happening with my case.
The case was subsequently passed to Beckie, the case manager(I believe they both work for Alder rose mortgages too).
Eventually, after numerous calls and emails, Danielle informed me that Atom Bank had withdrawn the mortgage offer and could no longer offer me the mortgage. No satisfactory explanation was provided to me.
I accepted the situation and simply expected the £1,495 refund that I had been promised in writing.
This is where my frustration has become even worse.
I have repeatedly contacted them about my refund. Each time, I have been told that the account manager is dealing with it and that the refund will be issued. Five days later, I am still waiting for my money.
I have now contacted my bank and opened a dispute, and I will report them to FINANCIAL CONDUCT AUTHORITY AND ACTION FRAUD.
I personally feel that my circumstances were not assessed as thoroughly as I had been led to believe before the mortgage offer was presented to me. Receiving an offer so quickly gave me confidence that everything had been properly checked, only for the offer to subsequently be withdrawn.
I am extremely disappointed with the level of communication, the handling of my case and, most importantly, the delay in returning money that I was explicitly told would be refunded.
My advice to anyone considering using this company: !!AVOID AT ALL COST!!
!!SCAMMERS ALERT!!
I BELIEVE ALL THE POSITIVE FEEDBACKS ARE FAKE TOO
