Scammers

Scammers - they accused me of damaging the car underneath the front bumper. This area wasn't even visible and I'm certain this rude little man put the scratch there whilst I was talking to his colleague. They charged me £300 ! Dire company, avoid like the plague.......

If I coud give 0 stars I would

If I coud give 0 stars I would. I took the car back yesterday and they found a "superficial" scratch on the roof of the car. I had photos of all the scratches but being only 5 foot tall missed seeing the one on the roof. They have taken 900 euros from me for a scratch that they'll never repair. Do not use them

Wheego

Wheego - please respond to the complaint I have submitted multiple times. I have been back and forth with a very rude representative of your Albanian brunch. Please someone from your HQ get in toch with me!
Everyone thinking to book with this company - be aware. Genuinely unsure of how they are still operating they are literally scammers. All the good reviews they have is genuinely just locals or people that are acquainted with people that work for wheego. Total scam. Albanian office representative is so rude. Clearly uneducated…

BEWARE - CROOKS

BEWARE - CROOKS! I wish I could give them less than 1 star. Absolutely transparent money-making venture making up damage upon return. We collected in the dark and couldn't even see the car, but did our best to look all around. We missed a couple of micro-blemishes on the roof and hey-presto, they hit their revenue growth goals by ripping off yet another innocent tourist for £400 of "damage" that will never be fixed. We had comprehensive excess insurance, so no cost to us ultimately, but that's not the point. Don't go near them.

We rented a car from Wheego in Alicante. At drop-off, we were charged for damage that we believe was already present before our rental. Despite our written dispute and request for evidence, we received no response and the €900 deposit was still charged. We have started an official dispute through our bank.

Setup

Didn’t have much choice as our flight was late into Manchester Airport. Booked at a too good to be true price, and sure it enough it was.

Was told my Mastercard was not accepted because it didn’t have my full name. No explanation why this matters when I have three other forms of id to prove it was my card. Then told I had to buy a package conveniently whipped out there and then meaning a £50/day charge. Seeing as it was late and didn’t have any option I paid the extra, and could then pay with any credit card which made zero sense. Was told the docs would be sent by mail but they never arrived.

Felt like an absolute setup. Car only had a quarter fuel in the tank, and the tyre pressure warning was on.

Very unpleasant experience. How can a company trade like this and get away with it?

Modern day scammers

Modern day scammers. Aggressive sales tactics at the car collection location (Sofia, Bulgaria airport), then keeping a significant amount as deposit and then not returning the deposit within the legal period - 30 days as per the Ts&Cs.

Keep away from this company. They need to be reported to the EU authorities.

DO NOT ENTERTAIN THIS CAR RENTAL…

DO NOT ENTERTAIN THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. We arrived to collect our car yesterday only to discover they would not accept our credit card as it contains initials and surname rather than full name. We had an alternative Amex card showing the full name, however they do not accept Amex. The staff were rude and aggressive and said that the broker GotRentalCars were the ones that made the rules. We phoned GotRentalCars who were adamant they did not know of this so called 'rule' and spoke to the agent to confirm it was not their ruling. The counter staff said 'they are just covering their backs, it is their rule'.
They presented us with two options - Option 1: They hold a deposit of 1200 euros on our credit card (to be refunded when the car is returned in the same condition) or Option 2: we take out their insurance. We opted for Option 1. They clearly wanted to sell us their insurance as that's when they declined to take our card. This has never happened in all the years we have been hiring cars in Malaga. First time we tried Wheego - AND THE LAST. Another couple in the office had exactly the same problem and were told to get off the premises when they tried to put their case across.
We ended up cancelling our booking.
Honestly, these guys and the company as a whole it seems are scammers, so please beware. I would check the reviews on Trustpilot before you settle on this company. They seem to find ways of keeping your deposit.
Interesting that if we had agreed to take out their insurance, how we would have paid for it because they had already refused our credit card!!! This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a bad review for anyone. Just be wary.

Wheego (Malaga Airport) clearly operate a SCAM

Wheego (Malaga Airport) clearly operate a scam by refusing to accept your credit card, in my case initials on card rather than full name, so that you are forced to take out their inflated insurance package which was professionally presented hand written on a scrap of paper.
The operatives blamed this on the broker I had used, my broker refuted this on the spot but this made no difference.
Luckily we were able to walk away, as did another couple with the same issue, Wheego were not bothered in the slightest.
On reflection I'm glad we walked as had we taken a car we would probably end up being charged for mysterious repairs etc, also it remains a mystery to me how I would have paid for this insurance as they had already stated they would not accept my card.
Avoid these jokers at all costs!

SCAM company

SCAM company. Do not use. Even through a 3rd party. I booked through Zest.

Manchester - Clayton Hotel

Will trick you into signing documents you don't see. You believe you are signing for the car and making a deposit. Called after 15 days to ask for the deposit back. I was told it would be 30 days.

Called back, and now they have changed their tune; they will not return the money once the time has elapsed.

Apparently, I bought another package because my initials were on my card, not my full name. The team discussed the issue and developed this solution among themselves. Did not provide any paperwork or clarify that this is a new package; what I had already paid for via Zest was now useless.

The team is very dismissive on the phone. clearly something they are doing on a daily basis, and are used to the calls coming in. Wish Id have read the trustpilot first and not the google reviews (some on there must be fake).

They never returned my deposit after…

They never returned my deposit after way over 30 days. The car was returned fine on 5th of Dec and I was told everything was fine. I paid 800 euros as a deposit. I could have boughr so much needed things for my kids. After 30 days they completely ignored my emails and whatsapp. This is a clear scam. I don't know how they allowed to do this to people and still operate as a legal business.

TOTAL SCAMMERS

TOTAL SCAMMERS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
I had prepaid for a rental car through CarJet. Upon arrival I was told my credit card would not permit them to take a security deposit and hence I was "'high risk". I was coerced into paying a rental charge 200% more than I had pre-paid - they also totally ignore the prepayment saying it was a commission to CarJet. Later that day I checked my credit card and they had indeed taken a $3500 security hold on my credit card. They lied to force me to pay an additional 200% for the rental.

STAY AWAY from WHEEGO Bulgaria

STAY AWAY from WHEEGO Bulgaria, Sofia Airport !
My experience with Wheego should have been noted as minus stars, but luckily for Wheego they get one, otherwise you cannot feedback. I have booked a car hire via Ryanair, then via Rental Cars. Very good communications with Wheego prior collecting the car and during my holiday. I had a full insurance bought online at the time of booking the car, but because I did not buy it from Wheego, I was charged a deposit of 1400 euros. The vehicle was returned in the same condition and I was told verbally that everything was ok and the deposit will be refunded after 30 days. I was emailed a report where they faked my signature. 30 days past long ago and since then NO REPLY from them about returning the deposit, although I have emailed and whatsapp-ed them several times. My credit card provider was notified and they opened an investigation. I am safe for now, but that is only because I have paid with a credit card.
And because my experience is only with Wheego in Bulgaria, all I can advise is to stay away from them !

Avoid at all costs

Arrived at the desk and apparently they didn't have a record of the incredibly cheap booking despite me having a rental voucher. Rude unhelpful staff and quite frankly just ripping customers off with massively expensive insurance so happy to go elsewhere.

Wheego staff did not tell me what was going on

I wasn't t told that I would be charged an extra £150 for 3 days hire. I signed and presumed it was for the deposit. Bad communication. The car was very dirty too. I normally wouldn't t mind a dirty car if the price was reasonable this certainly wasn't. Don t use unless you scrutinise every bit of paperwork.

Avoid this company!!

Avoid this company. They are out to make money by claiming you caused damage when you know you did not. This company is a disgrace. Rented a car from the off-airport Alicante branch in December. I had a similar experience to many who have already reported their problems. Absolutely appalling, definitely a scam. They ‘found’ a scratch which I know was already there when I collected the vehicle. Car was covered in minor marks and not all had been noted on their paperwork. €900 off my credit card despite my protestations. I had tried to take photos on collection but gave up as it was too dark to see properly, photos just showed overhead spotlights bouncing off the paintwork and shadows. Told the guy I would be taking photos in daylight the following morning. Photos taken first thing next day showed mark in question, which was definitely not caused by me. Ended up reporting it as fraud (which it is) to my bank and just successfully got a chargeback. These companies are disgusting and need regulating ASAP.
