NO MORE WESTJET
I missed my WestJet flight because the check-in staff were unfamiliar with standard visa procedures, even though I had valid documents that I’ve used successfully on previous trips. The staff mishandled my documents, caused unnecessary delays, and crowded around my personal information, which is a serious privacy violation.
Even after a manager confirmed my documents were valid, I was only rebooked on a flight the next day because they were unwilling to book the same day! This has resulted in lost time, extra expenses, and significant stress. WestJet refused to take responsibility or offer compensation for this mishandling when I reached to you them!
This experience shows poor staff training and a lack of accountability, and I WILL NOT fly with them again.
False advertising
West jet likes to make advertising that shows them as a caring airline but they are far from it. Their lack of customer service and empathy for an issue they caused leaves me very disappointed Ted in their service. I wanted to surprise my son who I would not see for 2 years. I planned to meet him in Calgary and we would take the connecting flight to Salt Lake City but they delayed the flight from Toronto and he missed the connection in Calgary I tried to get them to change my flight to his new flight but they said sorry out policy doesn’t allow for that I am very disheartened by their lack of service and empathy I would not recommend flying with them
Review of My WestJet Experience – Seat Purchase Not Honoured & Poor Customer Service
About 20 days before my flight, I paid for my preferred seat — specifically an aisle seat, which I require due to health reasons. However, one day before departure, I received an email stating that “The aircraft for your flight to Toronto has changed.” When I checked in, I noticed that the aisle seat I paid for was not assigned to me. Instead, I was given a completely different seat.
At the Kelowna airport, I spoke to a WestJet representative, who told me she could not help and advised me to speak to someone in Edmonton, where I had a transfer. In Edmonton, I spoke with another WestJet representative who informed me that my purchased seat had been given to someone else, and there were no other aisle seats available. No solution was offered.
A week after arriving in Toronto, I discovered that I had been charged a second time for a seat, even though I never received the seat I originally paid for.
I attempted to submit a complaint online, but the system would not allow me to enter the required information until 30 days had passed from the travel date. I then called WestJet and spent over 1.5 hours on the phone with two representatives, both of whom were dismissive and unhelpful. I finally asked to speak with a manager. She acknowledged that a refund should be issued for the first charge but claimed she could not see the second charge. While I was waiting for her to process the refund, the call was disconnected — and no resolution was provided.
Overall, this has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. I paid for a service I did not receive, was charged twice, and spent hours trying to resolve the issue without success. I hope WestJet will review their process and customer service standards to prevent similar issues from happening to other passengers.

My wife and I were flying from Punta Cana to Vancouver with a connection in Toronto, and this was an extremely disappointing experience.
First, our flight from Punta Cana to Toronto was delayed by one hour. Because of this delay, our baggage didn’t arrive in Vancouver. Now we have to wait for it to be delivered by courier or mail, and nobody can clearly explain when it will arrive or how the delivery process even works.
Second, we bought two bottles of rum (0.375 L each) and a 0.5 L bottle of water in Punta Cana. But during the connection in Toronto, WestJet made us go through check-in and security again. Because of that, we were not allowed to bring the rum bottles we had just purchased. We lost our Duty Free items only because the airline delayed the first flight and forced us to repeat the entire security process.
Overall, this trip was a complete mess — delayed flight, missing baggage, lost Duty Free purchases, and zero organization. Very disappointing service from WestJet.
One of the worst. Petty and rude
I booked a flight for 4 - 30 hours later there is a promotion where I can save 200 dollars. They said NO and that if i want to change i would have to pay 700 dollars to save 200 dollars. They are truly awful.
Awful service, no entertainment, wet seat
The flight landed and took off on time we did not have any delays but the quality of service was appalling. Firstly me and my girlfriend payed extra to have seats next to one another. Once the flight took off one of our entertainment screens was not working. I flagged this with staff and they restarted the screen twice with no success. The flight attendant came and said it would not work and one of us would have to move seats to access a working screen. We paid extra to sit together so we were not willing to move apart. Ny girlfriend is a nervous flyer and this was only her 2nd flight so for comfort wanted to stay sat together. Instead I asked if a refund was possible, the flight attendant said only online after. So I asked for a receipt to prove that we could not sit together to have working screens. The attendant said he could not do that. I asked if they had a pen paper and was literate to simply write a note to confirm the screen was not working and that we could not sit together. The flight attendant said this was impossible???. Secondly during descent for 30-40 mins where an attendant could not sort this out, one of the air ducts started leaking. Due to being in descent I had to tolerate water slowly leaking onto my lap for 30 mins completely soaking my sweatpants. Overall if you would like to have an entertainment seat, sit with your partner or not get wet for 8hours DO NOT FLY WESTJET.

I arrived 2.5 hours before takeoff. There was approx 50 people waiting for check in assistance. At one point there was only one (1) person working....I took a picture....how is that possible. When I finally did get to check in I had 30 Minutes to get through security and run to the gate. That's when I found out that at check in she couldn't find me on the flight....at the gate I was stopped because my name did not match with the passenger list....the H in my name was dropped....I did get on board and my luggage was on the plane.....HOWEVER... on my return flight WS 502 .... I made it to Edmonton but my luggage did not.....could some one please tell me why you even bother putting stickers on luggage and boarding passes even though they are completely useless and luggage is not tracked to planes or airports. This is the first time I have experienced such poor treatment from WestJet....both leaving and returning flights...WHY ME...is what is going through my mind...not impressed....get it together or you will lose a customer
Terrible service
The set that I had, the registered suitcase, never arrived with me when I left Winnipeg on Wednesday morning with a delayed departure. The flight was good. It took longer to have the suitcases out in the electric band at the airport. Finally, after 45 minutes of everyone waiting, the suitcases started showing some broken wheels; so far, I noticed 3, and my suitcase never arrived. I spent over 1 hr waiting and inquiring about where my suitcase is or was. I was told it never left Winnipeg, and I should open the QR code to make a claim. Finally arriving in Playa del Carmen at my friend's house. I did, and also called for the claim; I was told Thursday afternoon that I should have my suitcase. Nothing happened Thursday or Friday until Saturday at noon. Finally got a different suitcase, way bigger than mine, with only 60% of my things. The new ones, like the 3-blocker power bars from Canadian Tire that I bought, and the plate for the overflow bathtub, are gone, as well as an Android phone that I had inside the suitcase, new in a box and new clothes that I bought for my holidays. Instead of placing my suitcase inside this huge suitcase with only a few things inside and now saying that my suitcase broke and they are not responsible, they left me without any info from Wednesday until Saturday. I don't understand how careless WestJet is now and doesn't give a crap. Inside the plane, nothing is clean like it used to be a few years back. Shame on this company that increases the prices but is careless about its customers.

Changed itineraries more than doubling journey time, rude staff both on the phone and on the ground, website that doesn’t work and crashes, terrible food, very cramped, terrible in flight entertainment. The only reason to fly with them is if you’re on a budget.

A %25 isn't too much to ask, noticed i didn't say free i said %25 discount less than half. Really Gone Downhill
Please stop the race to the bottom with taking away features that don't cost you money, like picking seats. Having a carry on makes me feel a lot more comfortable and worry less about my checked bag being delayed or lost. Can you guarantee that it won't be??? No!?! Oh, maybe a carry on IS a good idea then. I'm really looking forward to flying home with Air Mexico who hasn't done all that! As a Canadian, its hard to avoid WestJet and Air Canada, but I'm going to try!!! I'm 1000% NOT spending hundreds of dollars to not be the last on the plane, but it really makes me hate your airline. Please go back to being the airline that you were year ago. At least you don't have "Canada" in your name. It makes me less embarrassed that one of Canada's airlines is sooo cheap. I also hate how you switch planes. Finding out at the gate that this flight is being operated "by your sister airline", I.e., a cheaper, older, less comfortable plane is upsetting.
Bags lost 3 days, damaged case, opaque lowball offer
Flew Edinburgh → Toronto → Nashville. Our two checked bags were misplaced in Toronto and didn’t reach us for 3 days (arrived Sunday). We filed the report within 1 hour. In the meantime we spent over US$1,000 on new outfits for a wedding, phone charges chasing updates, and basic necessities—plus one suitcase arrived damaged.
WestJet then offered just US$444.80 with no itemized breakdown, and told us transportation and phone charges aren’t eligible, despite their own website saying they reimburse reasonable expenses directly caused by delayed baggage (with receipts). They also haven’t resolved the damaged suitcase.
We provided every receipt and photo and asked for a clear breakdown—still not sorted. After the stress, the three-day separation from our luggage, and an opaque, inadequate offer.
We would NOT recommend WestJet to anybody. Probably the worst company we have ever dealt with. Even after all of this, and the terrible offer they have yet to compensate us for the enormous hassle they have put us through.
I would never fly with WestJet again
I would never fly with WestJet again. It has been over two months since they lost my bag, and their customer service has been completely useless. No real investigation, no communication, no accountability. Every time I follow up, I get generic excuses or silence.
They even told me that I should have picked up my bag from the airport myself — after they mishandled it and failed to transfer it between flights. That is beyond irresponsible.
WestJet has shown zero professionalism, zero empathy, and zero responsibility toward their customers. I have traveled with many airlines, but this is by far the worst experience I have ever had.
If you value your time, your belongings, and basic respect as a customer — avoid WestJet at all costs.
Shameful, disrespectful service
My husband and I went to beautiful island Anguilla in January 2025. On the way back we had to be transferred to St. Martens in order to catch a West Jet flight to Canada. At the boarding gate the West Jet rep DENIED OUR BOARDING, therefore we had to stay in St Martens for 1 night and catch the next flight to Canada the following day. We had to pay for another 2 new tickets and we took air Canada as we wanted NOTHING TO DO WITH WEST JET. West Jet didn’t even want to help us book another flight, they never returned our money that we waisted for 2 tickets, we couldn’t get them on the phone and when they did answer the line: they were rude, unforthcoming and arrogant. They didn’t pay for our hotel accommodation, our meals and our 2 new airline tickets from St. Martens to Canada. The “reason” of not letting us board the plane was my husband’s question directed to the boarding agent who didn’t like to respond to it: the question was: “ Why are you so disrespectful towards my wife and I? “ She was so primitive and unsofisticated and the only little power she had was to deny someone’s boarding. It was obvious that was looking for trouble while lying and creating a fake story. She even called the police on us without any reason, we were treated like 2 scoundrels by anybody who was at that West Jet boarding gate, which was a huge shock not only to us but to other passengers as well. The other West Jet reps who witnessed what happed: instead of helping us and having some common sense, they were laughing their heads off: they looked like a bunch of beggars for a little attention in that cheap show travesty. We are suing West Jet now and I know our lawyers will teach them an excellent lesson. Poor customer service, disrespectful staff, irresponsible officials and shameful behaviour from almost all West Jet representatives.
Don’t fly WestJet to the Caribbean
This is the worst airline ever. I paid for a window seat and what I got was a brick wall leg room none and they using Swoop airline planes these planes are not even acceptable to carry pigs farless human being. They left my suitcase in Toronto and I am here on the island with no clothes. I will never book this airline again. Totally unsatisfied right now I am suffering from back pain for being cramped up for 5 hours. Do me a favor people use a different airline I will never recommend WESTJET AKA WASTEJET to any of my friends and family. This airline is garbage.

Very pleasant flight from Vancouver to Toronto. Amazingly they offered full-free internet service for their reward members and I used it throughout the entire flight. The seats were also comfortable. Only drawback was their customer service on chat was a waste of time. It was a good decision I chose westjet instead of other cheap flights. We'll definitely fly westjet again.
