I bought their new SanDisk Extreme 1TB…

I bought their new SanDisk Extreme 1TB Portable NVMe SSD, USB-C, up to 1050MB/s Read and 1000MB/s Write Speed from amazon for over £130. In the beginning it worked but was slower than was supposed to be. I used it 2 or 3 times. Now after months of not using it it is not detected by two different PCs, laptop, surface tablets and galaxy phone. I've tried many cables including provided by amazon. Contacted WD but they make everything very difficult. No wonder they have so many negative reviews. How can you make a disk that works only few times?!!! Will try to return/replace and continue this review asap.

SCAM

SCAM, LIERS, DONT TRUST, DONT USE.
Bought black usb 3.2 on sale they sent me 3.1 black which they don't sell so I assume anyone that bought on the sale got the cheaper version when contacted they tried to say both 3.1 and 3.2 are the same thing which we know is not true this proves they are doing this to other people as well as they have no intention of sending me the correct item they said if I don't want it they'll just refund me, I just want what I ordered but after reading the other reviews on here I'll just stick with the stick I got palmed off with SCAM.....

Still waiting a refund 2 weeks on. Time wasted due to wrong item sent and UPS return service.

I'm still waiting over 2 weeks for a refund, and I wasted another hour today waiting on their chat service to try and resolve this. I'd never use WD.com again. Now I have to get my bank involved. Thanks a million.

They are like many other corporations it seems: They take your money and make it as hard as possible to return it.

If their returns service is this bad then I hate to think what their warranty service is like should you have any problems. Do these corporations even care anymore about their products or services?

I was sent the wrong item and have spent over 3 hours now trying to return it. I was quite a while on the chat and then wasted over an hour walking to 2 different UPS only stores in which none of them had label printing facilities as stated! None of them could tell me which stores had them and so I could be walking around town all night trying to find one! Now I have to find someone with a printer to return an item and waste even more time! Is this deliberate to prevent returns? What a complete joke. Why use Useless Parcel Service?

Left high and dry by these guys.

Left high and dry by these guys.
My network drive was hit by hackers because Western Digital removed code that would have prevented the wiping of my data this in itself was sloppy. But I only found out about this after leaving hospital for cancer treatment and when I tried to take up their offer of data recovery, I just missed the cut of date. After years of discussion, the latest being a couple of weeks ago, they refuse to help me and all of my family photographs which documented our family’s development over the period of some 18 years has now been lost.
This is an appalling company, with no moral compass and seemingly no sense of obligation to recover my data due to their obvious failings.
Shame I can’t give them minus stars.

Terrible company

Terrible company. I tried all 3 means of communication; chat, phone and email. Zero response.

If you do buy use PayPal, because if they don't hold up their end of the bargain you can get PayPal to refund you.

Less than 0 stars

Is it possible to give 0 stars? I bought NAS and external disks but invariantly after a few years the data become inaccessible or the disk obsolete. But the worst of all was my WD MyCloud disk: only accessible via IP (it means that if I want to copy MY DATA from MY DISK in a fast way via USB it's impossible, I have to go through web). Then they discontinued the app so the only way to see data is through browser (the slowest experience ever). Then it is impossible to download folders (this means that if I want 100 files I have in a directory on MY HARD DISK, and I repeat, it's not cloud, it's MY PHYSICAL FREAKING DISC I HAVE ON MY DESK AND I HAVE TO ACCESS THROUGH A BROWSER ON THE INTERNET I have to download them one by one). For me now WD means WORST DEAL and I won't ever again buy or advise anything from this company.

Bought a My Home Cloud drive..

Bought a My Home Cloud drive... at first worked a dream. Right click on all the folders you want to backup and click Sync and away it goes. Backing up all your files...

So I changed networks a year ago, only got around to setting up the backup more recently (yesterday). They have now stopped support for backing up from your PC, it literally only now syncs with your phone and your cloud storage from other places.

So the 3.5TB drive I bought to back my PC up to no longer gas that function. I complain they say no don't worry, use this 3rd party software, which costs £35 a month!!

Jokers, wish I'd never bought it, it is absolute waste. If you want 3.5tb to back up your phone pics and Facebook posts then you're stupid. For grown-up use and serious backup it's a waste of space... and to perform this change which nullifies the reason I bought it and it's selling point is a joke

Should be zero stars

Worst company ever encountered. No customer service, and they steal your money as they don't give back refunds or replacements, just they lie and say they do. They got my return in October, according to tracking showing it was delivered, but refuse to refund, it is now November; still nothing. To anyone considering them please avoid; You will lose your money.

EXCELLENT HDD STORAGE & DELIVERY I GOT FROM WD.COM.
COULD IT BE THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE AGAINST WD THAT IS WHY PLENTY BAD REVIEWS HERE? BECAUSE I ALMOST NEVER BOUGHT FROM WD IF I NEVER DECIDED TO OVERLOOK THE BAD REVIEWS. THAT'S WHY IT'S NOT GOOD TO JUDGE A BOOK JUST BY THE BACK, BUT READ THE CONTENTS.

Security app not supported anymore = Drive can't be opened!

By far the worst customer service ever encountered! Robot emails!
Do NEVER use their security features because once they stopped supporting the sec app you can't open it anymore and they provide absolutely zero knowledge how to solve the situation. Sending links to irrelvant pages makes you feel that their support is handled by robots or peolpe that don't understand english. Complete waste of money!

Woeful Customer Support at first

I'm reasonably happy with my WD NAS drive but their customer support is a joke. All I want to do is delete one of the user accounts that I set up, but the device's dashboard won't let me.

I asked their online support to help but all I got was a load of links to pages with even more links and no concise help at all, so the issue remained unsolved.

Useless. Until I had a phone call from them. He walked me through the process and now all is well. Why they couldn't have done that earlier is a mystery.

Drive Failure out of warranty after 4yrs is expected-apparently

I bought a recertified mycloud home duo from them in January 2019. The drive was a 12tb version with 2 6tb red hard drives in Raid 1 mirror to protect data. The duo was only used domestically with no hard usage but as described was available 24/7. The drive can only be accessed by an app or computer remotely over an internet connection. That internet connection to the desktop IOS app failed to connect in August. After some troubleshooting the app showed drive failure. Not only that but the duo would not allow access to the desktop app or a linked computer or to establish what had failed. Customer support asked for the cgi-bin logs which they were sent a few days later they came back to factory reset the drive and try reboot. It failed and still cannot access. Hence no data from either drive. WD support latest comment is it’s out of warranty so they will do nothing. We are about to enter the field of court action for breach of contract for poor quality goods as regards not fit for purpose and poor longevity. Disgusting response from WD not willing to stand by their product. I support some other reviews which suggest WD apparently building drives of poor quality which they expect to fail out of warranty so you have to buy a new one. I don’t think so product longevity for NAS drives is over 7year. WD test their drives (yes in ideal circumstances) and rate it with a 1000000 hours of mean time life before failure that’s 114 years REALLY and they wont replace within the 6 years per the Consumer rights Act 2015. A customer might question if WD are selling quality products that they will standby. Evidence suggests not

Trying to resurrect my old WD MyBookLive network drive. Cannot connect! WD password failed to log-in.
Cannot hard-reset device. Cannot connect to WD support. Cannot fight my way through labyrinthine WD support protocols. Easier just to trash the drive and whatever may be on it and be free of it!!
Glad I switched to Seagate a long time ago.
Can't believe I wasted two hours on that . . .

I have 2 WD Home Cloud devices. Poor Me!

I have 2 WD Home Cloud devices.

Worst thing I ever bought, first one crapped out losing all data then today a work file has simply disappeared.

A few months ago they dropped their app and support, so all in all, WD are easily the worst company it has ever been my misfortune to deal with.
