Wantage Taxis are not based in Wantage, they are so called booking site that will farm jobs out and take a cut of the amount paid.
I run a taxi company in Wantage and our web address is wantagetaxi .co.uk
We have had a few people complaining (shouting and being aggressive) to us that we never turned up or was extremely late in picking them up, it takes some convincing that they never booked us.
So please make sure you book a taxi company based in the town that you want to travel in. I would also suggest not to pay in advance, agree a price and pay in the vehicle.
I booked a taxi for my boss for the following morning from Wantage to Didcot train station at 10.00am. Quote came in at £28.00 so booked it and paid for it on card.
Received an email at 05:15am, which said that they had been unable to cover this job, but could get it covered, if we wanted to click on the link at the cost of £50.00!
Is this a scam?
My husband runs his own private hire business where we live and unless a job can be covered he doesn't take it... and in the event of illness etc., he would get it covered and pay the difference if the price was higher. Not a good way to run a business wantage taxis and we will not be using you again.
