Didn't work.

Entered a reg of a bike I wanted to bring in from NI. It got the mileage all wrong, refused to let me correct the details, and then claimed the VRT would be 0. On a 2023 bike?

DVLA data was correct. Received a refund.

Hi Brian,

We provide over 20,000 VRT estimates a month and when a customer reports an issue with a report, we investigate and provide clarification.

I assure you we are a scam and you will see one of our team is already online at 6.30 am on a Monday morning and has sent you an up to date report.

There was an issue with the DVLA data for your vehicle, the engine size came back as zero when our system looked up the registration number.

We have access to the engine size from another source manually and emailed you an updated report.

Regards

Patrick

Poor communication but eventually resolved.Thanks

After leaving a bad review after multiple times to try and get an update from Patrick I had an update within a few hours of the review being posted.Within 10 days I had my V5 cert.A long wait and poor communication but I am assured it was due to a 3rd party error and issue was resolved in the end.Thank you

Approached this company in April 2024 to get a v5 cert. Was told 12 weeks then went to 16 weeks fine and then everyone stops answering emails. You get a number in the north that doesn't answer and even when they do you get no where juts told to wait. Its been over a year still no vrt but down €250.Save yourself the misery and disappointment!

Hi Jo,

Thanks for your feedback, I would like to clarify a few things.

Firstly we are not a scam, you requested a V5C and we contacted you to confirm we have the V5C you requested.

In relation to the issues you are reporting about no one answering the phone or emails, this is related to 3rd party company (whose name I have shared with you over email), not VRT.ie

Because of the bad experience you (and other customers) had with 3rd party company, we stopped working with this 3rd party company at the end of 2024.

Since the start of 2025 all V5C applications are handled by us directly and this is reflected in the positive reviews people have posted in 2025 in relation to V5Cs and V5Cs are being issued without delay.

In your specific case the 3rd party company had been a reliable partner in providing V5C and failed to fulfil their commitments, including the service we paid them to provide. This unexpected situation resulted in delays in delivering the service you requested. As a result of these issues, we took the decision to discontinue working with 3rd party company and took full control of this service in-house.

In bringing the service in house there was a significant level of work required to start from scratch and get the service up and running.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. This has been an extremely challenging time for me and the team, trying to fix this

We are now happy to say the service is running smoothly in house and this is why we were able to confirm we had your V5C for you.

I have also emailed you and feel free to call us if you wish to discuss this further over the phone.

Regards

Patrick

Very Helpful Email Support Service

Can't rate highly enough the knowledge and helpfulness of their customer support guy Patrick who has, on a number of occasions, explained to me in plain english the steps involved and paperwork I've needed to import cars with various UK/NI registration anomalies 👌🏻

Hi Adam,

Our Northern Ireland Customs Clearance Report is emailed instantly once it is ordered.

The email address you provided when you ordered was mis-spelled therefore the report could not be sent to you.

Now that you have confirmed your email address we forwarded the report to you.

We would appreciate it if you can update this review to clarify the situation.

I applied back in February and told…

I applied back in February and told 10/12 weeks and after that time elapsed was then told it could take 16 weeks and guess what that’s been and gone and still nothing. I emailed them several times and get told to call a mobile to which hardly ever gets answered and I’m still waiting. So I’m not sure how someone got there’s in 6 weeks.

Hi Paul,

We have successfully received hundreds of replacement V5Cs from the DVLA on behalf of our customers.

Specifically in your case as discussed over email.

If this was a standard V5C is would take 4 to 8 weeks (https://www.vrt.ie/product/v5c-replacement-for-uk-vehicle/)

In your case the vehicle needed to be re registered in the UK before a V5C could be issued by the DVLA. All paperwork was submitted to the DVLA as soon as we received it and the delay is with the DVLA re-registering the vehicle. Once the DVLA complete the re-registration process your V5C will be issued. The delay here has been the DVLA re-registering your vehicle which typically completes within the estimated 16 week timeframe.

We have escalated this to the DVLA and are seeking a resolution as soon as possible.

Regards

Patrick

Waste of money

Submitted a reg of a UK car to be checked, got back a completely different car. Emailed back asking why I got a calculation on a car I didn't even ask for and got no response after paying 15€. Sent another email through the website and still no response.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Hi Eoin,

As discussed over email, you requested a VRT estimate for an extremely rare vehicle, a 3.2 petrol Volkswagen Golf. At the time of writing, there are only 4 of these vehicles for sale in all of Ireland versus 3500 standard Volkswagen Golfs for sale in Ireland (source donedeal.ie). Due to the rarity of this car it is very difficult to provide a VRT estimate. We provided you one VRT estimate for the closest match to this vehicle we could find and also provided a second VRT estimate free of charge when you were not happy with the first estimate.

If you are still not happy please reply to our most recent email and we will issue you a full refund.

Motorbike needing backdated Customs clearance

I had a motorbike that needed a backdated VRT & was advised by customs to contact a Customs Clearance Agent. After doing an internet search I found Customs Declaration Ireland and via an email 'conversation' with Patrick, I was advised on the process and cost. I was also informed that if their services were not required (if I got my TOR clearance without having to present the bike to customs) I would get a refund. I found the service extremely helpful, informative and responsive and would definitely recommend them in the future as they reduced my stress levels with their advise!
