At a time where VW is being challenged by new car manafactures on price, equipment level and service, they should be doing better.
I have an ID5 on PCP with Citygate VW near Chiswick. The car went in for a recall service which required a software update. The Software update crashed which meant a weeks worth of delays getting it sorted. To their credit I was kept informed all the way through and allowed to keep the courtesy car at no extra cost. Now the recall was for a rare issue that might occur at normal driving speeds in certain conditions the doors might open. The reason the update crashed is because of a SF module.

Volkswagon VHC’s

Whilst my Vehicle was in having a Gearbox Oil Change VW Andover gave it a free VHC .. (Vehicle Health Check )
To my surprise they managed to find £1700 worth of work, and they’d be quite happy to carry this work out.
The work consisted of .. Brake Disc Change, Brake Pad Change, Corrosion on Suspension Arm .
What amazed me was they’d already carried out a VHC 500 miles previously whilst my Vehicle was in the Garage for a Diagnostic Check .. then it had a completely free from issues Bill of Health.
2 different Technicians carried out the checks.
Be careful, these VHCs maybe a good thing if used correctly, other than that they are a good way of conning the poor motorist into having unnecessary work carried out … If genuinely the work needs doing use an independent VW Dealer .. VW Rates are legalised robbery.
Also … To complain to Customer Relations is an absolute waste of time.. each contact you make a different advisor replies back giving conflicting reasons these VHCs can differ.

Absolutely dreadful receptionist, rude, arrogant, unhelpful. When I asked for her name, she put the phone down on me. I had to call again and could hear her bad mouthing me in the back. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour. If you don’t have adequate customer service skills why do you have this job. VW really need to look into this.

Amazing customer service

Just want to say a big thank you to Ceyda, Every time I visit VW for my car servicing, mot or even repair work, she makes the whole experience so easy and stress-free. I had Vanessa and Isaac deal with me today and honestly great communication throughout. They’re professional, helpful, and always go the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly. I really appreciate the consistency and the excellent service every single time — it’s the reason I only come back to the Loughton branch. Thanks again to Ceyda, Vanessa, and Isaac for always providing top-notch service and making car servicing such a pleasant experience!

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

Bought a Brand new car on 27/11/24 from VW Loughton they were so eager to get rid of the car they arranged delivery before the finance had been accepted i had to transfer my insurance from my old car to the new car when the finance had been accepted transfer it from the old car back to the new car again which i was charged twice for and never reimbursed from VW. 2 weeks later on 12/12/24 & 13/12/24 i get a lighting fault on my indicator, a lead had to be changed, on 13/01/25 same issue. Called VW 13/1/25 left a message for a call back and sent an email and photos of the faults displaying on the dashboard nobody has bothered to call me back. Poor Customer Service VW Loughton
I have advised that I wanted to reject the car on 19/12/24 but now i will have to contact the TMO as they have attempted to fix 3 times now twice by VW Assist roadside assistance and once at VW Dealership

I recently visited VW of Cannon Park in…

I recently visited VW of Cannon Park in Middlesbrough with the genuine intention of purchasing a car, and my experience was profoundly disappointing.

From the moment I walked in, not a single person approached me. I wandered around the showroom, clearly interested in their vehicles, yet not one staff member acknowledged my presence. I was genuinely looking to buy a car that day, but it was as if I was invisible.

The lack of customer service was glaring and unacceptable. A visit to a car dealership should be met with attentive and helpful staff, but my experience was the complete opposite. It’s incredibly frustrating to feel ignored when you're ready to make a significant purchase.

I left the dealership feeling extremely let down and took my business elsewhere. If you're looking for a new car, I recommend avoiding VW of Cannon Park in Middlesbrough. The complete absence of customer service makes the experience incredibly frustrating and a waste of time.

Does VW even have any real people to pick up calls.

Spent 30 mins on phone on hold trying to get through to VW Battersea , phone diverted twice to up north. Some staff like to tell you they are Sales in *** wherever location some staff come clean and say they are the call centre :-( they then want to take your number and get someone to call back at their leisure (if they remember!) they assume that you can take a call Anytime during the day! Choices either call back or speak again to AI who has no clue what you are saying! SO ANNOYING!
Also Head Office UK phone calls are now handled by South Africa! VW in Camberley don't bother returning your calls (I even asked for the manager!).
They also don't know how to transfer a new owner from a old owner on their VMS Used Car Warranty system... You couldn't make this stuff up!

Very poor customer service.

Went into VW Milton Keynes’s today together with my wife with a view to potentially purchasing a new car. Whilst I appreciate that the numerous sales staff understand that you do not want to be smothered in attention it would have been nice if at some stage during the 35 minutes we were in the showroom that someone, anyone would have approached us to see if we needed any help. But no one did. So was it late in the day ? No it was 3:30pm. We’re all the sales staff busy ? No we were the only customers in the whole place. Eventually my wife approached a sales guy to ask for information he clearly wasn’t particularly interested and we left.. A shameful experience when you go there to spend potentially +40k on a car.

I had my vw serviced today at vw Otford. When I got home, I opened the bonnet, there is a plastic cover over the engine, where the dip stick is. It was surrounded by dead leaves. They could not even get rid of the leaves, just left them. Slapdash workmanship. Too lazy to get rid of the leaves. Vw Otford you need to get your engineers to do there job. You charge enough for servicing cars. No stars from me.

My ID 4 has been in the garage since June 2023 and is still there .It was on a software update when they found there was a fault but they are still waiting for parts to arrive . One should think twice b4 buying a VW.Just imagine outside the warranty if you needed a part you could be on a lengthy wait without a vehicle. The dealers I bought from Crewe Vw ( keep away )
It’s been over 3 weeks since I reported this to Vw and have had no reply . It shows what the customer service is like .

Dishonest to the core!

I enquired about the ID3 last Feb. Eventually I said I wouldn't be buying because I was worried about the depreciation, I have never bought a brand new car because of this. All comms were by email and when I sent final email the General Manager (not the chap i had been dealing with) called to say I would lose NOTHING on the car in the first year as the electric car market was so buoyant and in particular the ID3. I totally took him at his word as I didn't think a brand like VW would lie like this. 3 months in I decide I needed to sell due to family size increasing and I learn the car had decreased by £7,000. I called to discuss this and they called me a liar and said they would never say this. I have tried every way possible to get this sorted and can't. The car is now 11 months old and has depreciated by £10,000. Thanks VW!!!

TL DARBY VW - Good People.

I was keen to buy my next car from TL DARBY VW Burton on Trent and like others I got caught up in the excitement of it all and followed through with reservation deposit and paperwork remotely by phone/email etc. Shortly after completing some of this detail my wife and I decided this particular car was not for us. I contacted the salesman and although disappointed he understood and immediately cancelled the purchase and returned our deposit. Now that's true professionalism and good service for you, no quibble. I would not hesitate to buy a car from TL DARBY VW should the right car appear in stock. I would also recommend them to others. Good company, no pressure and good service as you would expect from a VW Franchise.
Thanks Hamed.

Parkway VW Leicester -service dept employee

After reading the reviews already posted we may have reconsidered buying a VW in the first place as the after-service reviews would have surely put us off buying, however, we did and bought into the sales patter with the whole VW world of reliability etc. The car itself seemed fine during the 30-minute test drive but that might have been the excitement of buying a car costing just that little bit more than we originally planned; our sensible brain was blinkered, and we went with it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but heho.
This is purely a review of the service we received from one employee at Parkway Volkswagen, Leicester…Charlene. It was only by a stroke of luck that the Sat Nav needed updating and so a visit to the service department was arranged. When asked by the lady booking it in if there were any other issues we needed to look at, we mentioned a squeaking noise when going over speed bumps. The following day a video report was sent by email. We were not expecting a near on £3000. £1000 was for a new alloy/tyre after we discovered that there was a slow puncture which only became evident during a cold snap a few days before. The tyre repair chap said there was no point repairing after finding 4 punctures scattered around the tyre; we can only assume they were there when the car was sold but without the cold opening the holes, the punctures held. Needless to say, when we went back to the salesman who sold us the car, the message we got was a story of how he had had the same problem and had to pick up the bill and this is what you will need to do. OK, so be it, the tyre was replaced but this still left £2000 in repair costs. We were placed with a contact in service and asked if the 2-year built-in warranty would cover the mechanical faults. We were told that they would need to check and get back to us; they never did and every time we called, they were unavailable. To an extent, this is understandable, as the department always looked busy. A week went by, and we decided to pop in but the person we were dealing with was not in so by the biggest bit of luck, met Charlene. From the initial greeting up until yesterday when we took out a service plan, we can’t thank the young lady enough. She truly is an asset to the company. When she said, how can I help, you got the impression, that she wanted to make sure we left knowing we had a mechanically safe car to drive, and this is exactly what was delivered. While having to get authority for the works to be done and keeping us informed all along the way, there was never any doubt in our minds that what needed to be done would be and for that, we are truly grateful. Having had the car back now for a week, there is no squeak and the car drives as if it were new. Thank you. This review as stated in the first originally is purely to reflect one person's dedication to doing a great job and we hope this review is read by her manager and VW. Doubtful that will be the case though as there haven’t been any replies to any of the other reviewers from VW to try and resolve some of their problems. We hope this in some way helps anyone else thinking of buying from VW.

Warranty always accompanied with veiled threats of charges

I have driven VW cars for 30 years and love them, but the franchise dealers and used approved warranty promoted as such a value add is poor. When I contact my local dealer Group 1 (who I wouldn’t buy a toy car from btw) they can’t see you for 3 weeks and then they make veiled threats of paying £120 investigation fees if the warranty doesn’t cover the fault (which it clearly does). So if you buy a warranty there is no peace of mind if you do need to use it, just a gamble of £120 on whether they agree to meet their contractual obligations

Lack of accurate information…

The lack of accurate information relating to the cars is worrying. Dealers are not kept informed about fundamental changes to the specifications of different models and the same question to different dealers will yield different results. And it's not only the dealers, the same applies to staff within both VW UK and VW HQ. Then we get to the issue of communications - There is no clear method of contacting customer relations and when you do get through, they email each other and neither follow up or keep to their promises. And this applies to basic safety issues!

Service is appalling if your not buying…

Service is appalling if you're not buying a car. I got a test drive of a car quick time when they thought I was interested in buying it. i have already had to make a complaint about their phones ringing out and nobody answering

I took my car to my local VW dealership to get a replacement key. It took ages to get the call to say my key was ready to be programmed and that was after a follow up call and complaint where I had to ask how long it was going to take. I suspect they just forgot me as had I not called i suspect i would still be waiting now, more annoying given that I had paid for the new key

I had tried to get a replacement key programmed from a different company via my insurance but they were unable to do it. when I contacted VW they assured me that they had the correct equipment to analyse the issue and get the key sorted

I finally got my appointment to get my key programmed on the 15th August, however the same problem arose where they could only programme the new key and were unable to programme my old key so I am still left with just one functioning key.

I was advised that they were contacting VW to get answers and a resolution. Bearing in mind that this was on the 15th August. We are now in the 18th of September and I had to yet again be the one to call and was told that VW showroom still haven't heard back from wherever or whomever it was they contacted. Pretty shoddy service if you ask me. I asked why they had not heard anything and why they couldn't follow up. I was advised that they have to wait to hear back from VW. This I find totally unacceptable. Why would I pay for another key if i still only have one that functions!

I asked for the contact details and tried to call myself. unbelievably I got some sort of AI operator whom I was yapping away to not realising that it was not a real person I was talking to. I was put through to an extension that rang a few times which then went dead. I tried a couple of times with the same outcome, a dead line after a couple of rings. I went online to find another number and said I wanted to make a complaint, again via AI. was put through it rang a couple of times then went dead!

Does VW even have any real people to pick up calls.

Totally unacceptable in my opinion. so you basically can't speak to anybody other than the AI operator!!!!
