I felt completely confident with the cataract procedure Mr Darcey put me at ease throughout the procedure and the result is amazing

I can’t recommend Vision Care and Kieren Darcy highly enough. I had a fairly complex condition affecting my left cornea. I was hugely impressed by the tests and scans carried out by VisionCare and Kieren’s scientific and analytical approach. He constantly seeks out leading edge technology and approaches in his specialisation in order to improve his capabilities further. Kieren’s manner engendered confidence and reassurance in the outcome of the procedure which was totally successful. Alongside the verbal explanations at the time of the consultation and the procedure itself, Kieren provided very extensive written information about it which was very helpful and answered most questions that you forget to ask at the time. As a result of the correction Kieren made to my left cornea, he was then able to replaced the lenses in both eyes so that I now have perfect unaided vision – something that I have longed for for more years than I care to mention! A word also for Keiren’s team who were all very helpful and supportive and a particular thanks to Cheryl who was always very attentive.

I attended Vision Care Clinic last week for Implantable Contact Lens. I have an astigmatism in both eyes, and a prescription of around -2.5/-3.5. Being mid 40s, I've also just started to struggle reading small text if I have my distance lenses in, especially in poor light.
After almost 30 years of wearing contact lens, I wanted freedom from the daily hassle and infection risk, especially for an upcoming trip involving a lot of swimming, scuba, surfing.

From the outset, the entire team was incredibly warm, welcoming, and more importantly - I had a real feeling of trust and confidence in their abilities, especially the surgeon, Kieran Darcy. The team advised me to consider Monovision – having one eye under corrected to allow for reading correction as well as distance correction. I was able to trial this by using an under-corrected contact lens in my non-dominant eye, before surgery. It turned out to be the perfect solution, it’s amazing the way that the brain uses the two different images and effectively edits out the blurry data to give fantastic vision for both near and far.

I was told that the procedure, under anaesthetic drops, would be painless - and this was 100% accurate. After the drops have taken effect, you are asked to look straight ahead, with the bright surgery lights in front of you. Kieran gave indications of the process as he worked, and how much of the process was left, which was beneficial to me. While the incision is being made and the lens is being inserted and orientated, I basically could see just a blurry mix of bright colours and shapes which was incredibly strange, but in no way painful. There is also a brief period of blackness, then the colours came back.

I think I was told I'd be in surgery for around 20 minutes, but the actual procedure must have been a fraction of that. After surgery, you can see immediately, although not perfectly (still far better than without glasses pre-op, in my case). By the time I'd had tea and a sandwich back on the ward, I could see really well. By the morning, my vision (near and far) was perfect!

I could not be happier with the outcome, or the team that I chose for the operation. Thank you all.

I’ve had an amazing experience having my eyes lasered at Visioncare in Bristol. All the clinic staff struck exactly the right balance between being professional and warm / welcoming. At the initial consultation lots if care and time was taken to build that trust and get to know my individual circumstances before recommending the right treatment; on the day of the surgery / treatment I was a little nervous and this was meh with patience, warmth and good humour, all helping to the make the experience not in the least bit daunting.
Post surgery I now have better than 20:20 vision ! Who could have wished for a better outcome than that !

I would thoroughly recommend the Vision Care Clinic team at the Nuffield Hospital in Bristol. From my first consultation through the two operations I had to remove cataracts to the after care everything was very efficient and carried out in a friendly and caring way. The two procedures were swift, without difficulty or pain and resulted in my vision being restored to previous levels of clarity. I no longer have to wear glasses and this spring colours were as vibrant as I remember them from my youth. The after care I received was second to none. Thank you Kieran Ivy and Linda.

I recently underwent surgery for Implantable Contact Lenses with Kieren Darcy at the Nuffield Clifton. I truly cannot recommend the procedure and Kieren highly enough, it really has been life changing.

All the staff at the hospital were so lovely, including Linda and Cheryl at my consultations. Everyone was so friendly, patient and thorough.

The surgery itself was so much easier than I could have imagined. I didn't feel a thing, and because they shine such a bright light into your eye, you cannot see anything either (which I mean is a good thing!).

Downtime afterwards was minimal and I woke up the next morning with better vision than I can ever remember having. I am now a month on and my vision is perfect, and my eyes are healthy again.

Mr Darcy was fantastic. He was thorough and professional and helped me immensely with my eye problems.

Kieren Darcy at Visioncare has recently treated me for bilateral cataracts. After 50 years I have now all but dispensed with contact lenses and glasses. From my first consultation Kieren has clearly presented me with all options and guided me, with the benefit of his extensive experience and knowledge, to the best outcome I could have had. He has exceeded my expectations. His surgical competence is excellent but he also has a caring and conscientious rapport with his patients. I have had total confidence in him throughout. Mr Liyanage is a fantastic Eye Consultant who is not only extremely thorough in his eye examinations, but he is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. In addition to this, he has the most wonderful manner and was excellent when dealing with both myself and my daughter. I would highly recommend him and also vision care. Mr Liyange is lovely and so are his team. In particular Cheryl and Caroline, who were incredibly kind and efficient with the appointment arrangements.

I had laser eye surgery for myopia in July 2022 with the Vision Care Clinic and I couldn’t be happier. From start to end, Dr Kieren Darcy and his team have been very supportive, professional and friendly. The whole process was very professional and thorough and the outcome is outstanding.
An initial phone consultation and then in person consultation proved I was a good candidate. Dr Darcy presented the facts and suggested a surgery that would suit my needs. At no point did I feel pushed or persuaded to go ahead which I hear can be the case at other clinics. My follow up questions was promptly answered and I could easily arrange a phone call to talk to Kieren about a worries I had.
The actual surgery was very smooth and easy and chatting to the staff dispelled any worries.

I saw Mr Kieren Darcy in 2022 after my optician thought I might have an unusual corneal condition called kerataconus. The optician had tried unsuccessfully for a year to fit me with satisfactory contact lenses.
I had a very useful consultation with Mr Darcy who suggested I try scleral contact lenses.
They have been amazing. They are comfortable to have in my eyes from morning until night. And have transformed my life.

I was referred to Kieran, as I have keratoconus in both eyes but also a cataract in my left eye, which has also had a corneal graft! On being referred to Kieran and the Vision Care Clinic My vision was really poor and I was well below the legal limit for driving. Following my cataract surgery I am writing this review without glasses, can use a computer and watch TV all without glasses. To say I am over the moon would be an understatement. The care and service I have received from the team at the vision care clinic has been amazing and I would recommend them to anyone who wants or needs to improve their vision

Vision Care Clinic is a great choice if you are researching who to trust when it comes to your eyes.

They put in a lot of effort to do the prep work properly - by way of example, I was asked to not wear my contact lenses for 5 days ahead of the extensive measurement tests as contact lens wear can distort the results - I got my dates wrong and only had 2 days of lens free wear. Mr Darcey took the measurements but wanted to re-measure at a later date just in case my lens wear had distorted the results even in a very small way. That impressed me and proved that I had found the right expert.

I opted for trifocal bilateral lenses after much research and deliberation. It was stressful considering the various options but Mr Darcy patiently ran through the options and answered my many questions. In the end, the convenience of 20/20 near and far vision was worth the upgrade and the end results are very impressive.

I highly recommend Vision Care, diligent throughout and a very impressive team that truly care about optimising the outcome.

Complete life changer !! Before opp I would have to wear glasses for reading then change glasses for driving, I struggled with short & long sight, since opp aprox 7 weeks ago, I have not picked up a pair of glasses & Vision is spot on,

From the the moment I arrived at the Nuffield Cinic I felt I was in safe hands the whole procedure from beginning to end was completely stress free .. Kieren Darcy is excellent and the end result result is phenomenal I can’t thank you all enough.

For a while I had been considering lens replacement surgery. I wear contact lenses and getting concerned that at some point I would not be able to have the surgery as my prescription was increasing.
One of the reasons I chose Mr Darcy was the opportunity to have a consultation over the phone. I could ask all the questions I wanted without having to travel.
Once I decided to go ahead, the whole procedure including pre and post surgery was fantastic
I chose to have surgery on both eyes at the same time. For me this was the best decision. Everything went extremely well. The following day my sight was incredible and got better over the following few days
Now 2 months on and my check ups show I have 20:20 vision

A week ago I had multifocal lens implant surgery with Mr Kieren Darcy and the results have been outstanding. After much investigation, I chose to see Mr Darcy due to the senior position he also holds at Bristol Eye Hospital in addition to his private work and his extensive experience and my confidence in him was confirmed from the initial consultation.
Mr Darcy is thorough and clear and at no point did I feel rushed or pressured into agreeing to surgery. He took time to understand my needs and expectations. His team members, Linda Lewis and Ivy Le, are to be commended too, for their outstanding friendliness and professionalism. They all put me at my ease, but most importantly, between them I received a rigorous and full appraisal of my eye health and optical needs.
Mr Darcy’s PA Cheryl was very accommodating when I had to reschedule my surgery date only hours before I was due to attend when I tested positive for Covid - nothing is ever too much trouble.
The surgery itself took approximately 8 minutes per eye and at no point during or since have I experienced any discomfort. By the following day I was able to read a book without glasses and my vision improved rapidly each day. By my post-surgery check-up appointment 5 days later my vision had already improved so well I was assessed as having 20/20 vision.
This surgery has been transformational for me. Eyes are so precious but there is nothing I could fault in any aspect of my journey with Vision Care. I unreservedly recommend Mr Darcy and his team for cataract surgery.
