Victrons interests…

Victron is only interested in offloading technical issues to certified individuals and companies thus maintaining the wall that protects them from warranty claims. Community development is stifled and actively censored when real issues arise, such as victron actively stealing opensource code and distributing it as their own without licensing.
The moderators of their online forum are for the most part incompetent UI power users that have no idea or background in actual programming.
On the contrary, the forums provide developers and the owner a platform to gauge and interact with their users without the user knowing it.
The system administrator (most likely Mr Vader) actively reads and censors private messages sent between users.
Users have no control over their information or the ability to remove their information or comments as required by European law and can only request the anonymization of their information.

They make quite capable inverters, now with their push to become an industrial supplier and integrate the EU mandated power consumption and control systems, they have alienated their user base while pretending to be opensource. They failed to e honest about the messy communication and timing protocols under the guise that its intellectual property, when in actuality its simply dangerous and that is why they're so opaque about it. This could be fixed by publishing full and correct documentation, but all attempts to reverse engineer need to start from scratch, allowing for more mistakes to be introduced.

Their systems all run as root, while this historically was necessary as the system ran arduino-esqe, it could simply be fixed with proper user implementation.

In summery, victron actively uses information you provide to further obfuscate their systems. If you find a hack, to control your inverter and communicate it on the forums, watch and it will be removed with the next firmware update.

The mods are suffering exposure effect and any attempts to point that out especially to nickdb result in censorship and threats of account locking with gaslighting being used as a method. There is no objectivity, the mods are helpless and lash out at the users attempts to understand terming it " dunning Kruger ".

Anyway.

Beware BS WARRANTY

Beware! Victron Australia denied me warranty on a power inverter that blew a capacitor weeks after purchase. Sales agent tested and confirmed it wasn't working, sent it Melbourne service centre for warranty repair, came back working but was charged $180 (scammed) supposedly there was nothing wrong with it. Days later it blew a capacitor almost catching fire. Victron NSW denied my warranty claim with no justification or explanation. Great 5 year warranty Victron! 😁

The data sheet from RS Smart Solar says that the AUX inputs can be controlled by the VictronConnect App.

It is not true!!

Well Victron replied to my complaint. Unfortunately they refer to an other (Multi RS) product in which they say the AUX inputs can be controlled. My complaint concerns the RS Smart solar in which the AUX inputs can NOT be controlled

Replacing a 10 year old simple lithium…

Replacing a 10 year old simple lithium system, upgrading I thought, my old master volt and single cell aircraft rated batteries were a lot easier and simpler also cheaper and did well over a decade, still using them as second battery bank.
Victron connect is a marketing bullshit app, get more out of my amp, volt gauges and dingo solar regulator than I get from Victron system.
Over priced and average, good marketing terrible support.

My Inverter stop working

My Inverter stop working and was replaced by a new one (Apparently) which stop working as well. When the second one was shipped back for repairs or replacement; Victron said they were not replacing it.
This was all done within 3 years of original purchase that should have been under the 5 year warranty. I never got the Inverter back from them either.
I'm not very happy and don't think much of Victron.
I had a company for 40 years and I would never leave a client unhappy.

Victron easy solar have a dispute with this company they…-fixed

The company now solved this over the seller....so i have now increased my score..im moving my issue to the specific seller Tiendasolar

have a dispute with this company they seem or excuse to ask their seller to comply short history

-May-23 bough a 1400 euros device
-July-23 high alarm l1 and burning signs
- Aug-23 sent to repair
-Oct-24 box arrives Tiendasolar/Techosun claims the box is damaged and that the issue of the device...
-Nov-24 they repair it- and send me back
-2025 finally i open the device as i did bought a new one this is a solar offgrid inverter connect it and has the same failure as initially reported- contacted Victron they never had a RMA- complain to Victron and they say they cant fix it Only tiendasolar can open a RMA- tiendasolar says the problem is from the damaged box (although there is no issue at all on the device no scratch at all) and its out of warranty...but the device has the same L1 alarm and burning as the first time...so this company refuses to start the warranty. this is a tier 1 device- they completely refuse to repair my device- Victron excuses themselves with the seller- that don't opens a RMA- would not expect this from a European company and ill take it to court. This is a completely out of standard process.l and really bad ethics and illegal by the eay

Would leave zero stars if you could. In my experience none of their products are accurate. All overpriced and over complicated. I would advise anyone looking to make an off grid set up to use ABV (Anything But Victron). Even their own tutorials advise connecting to the grid every couple of weeks, if that was possible you would just be connected to the grid anyway! Not a suitable company if you want to use off grid. Wish I had never even heard of Victron.

A blown fuse and its useless

A blown fuse and its totally unrepairable this is one of the most environmentally unethical electronic firms I've dealt with and the gear while good is not perfect. Once you try for a warranty they write back with a huge list and you have to do tje tech work yourself to find the issue...3 hours latter its a blown fuse. Next they won't repair victron with blown fuse . Must be your fault so bad luck. No ethics at all happy to make their products disposables. I would have gladly bought another but they dont answer emails after the first. They dont give a thought and their agent in Australia does care either. Its not a huge money outlay but enough is enough on these non repairable products especially a fuse give me a break. Buy elsewhere. They have a low trust score for a reason. The gear is good but time is ticking eventually it will loose the arrogance which is all poor customer service is will wear down. Me personally I will make it a mission to inform people of the Victron reality. The response of victron is the fuse is not replaceable because you would not fix the issue if it was. This is an absolutely piece of rubbish based on this there should be no replacement fuses on any device that is a pathetic answer which AGAIN shows victron contempt for the purchaser . Please take note when looking to buy. This is not acceptable in 2025.

We understand that you would like to resolve the issue by replacing the fuse. However, in some Victron devices (and similar electronics), there is an internal fuse that is designed to blow (i.e. break the circuit) in the event of serious internal damage, such as a short circuit or hardware failure. This type of fuse is not intended to be replaced like a standard external fuse, as its failure typically indicates a more serious underlying issue that cannot be resolved simply by replacing the fuse.

In other words, a blown fuse is a symptom of a more critical fault, not the fault itself. Replacing the fuse without addressing the root cause would be either unsafe or ineffective, which is why, as the manufacturer, we generally do not support repairs in such cases.

Absolute crap customer service

Absolute crap customer service. I know individuals are not what VictronEnergy are looking for but together we buy a chunk of hardware. I need a power cable for my victron smart shunt and contacted support victronenergy.com and all I get is contact your local seller well I don’t have a local seller anywhere near me. So it’s time to call you guys out. What are you doing for us little people who need support. If you sell the products you should support them. It’s a simple reply to message sent.
This is typical of a company who make a great product but lose site of there customers and then customers sales start to dwindle. Not impressed.

Let us explain why this might be happening, as it could help clarify the situation:

Any solar panel will experience a voltage drop once it's loaded by a charge controller—typically around 5V DC. If the controller is configured to start charging at a voltage close to the panels' open-circuit voltage, the result may be that the battery becomes more discharged than charged.

To prevent this, it's good practice to keep the PV voltage as high as possible by wiring the panels in series. This configuration allows the controller to reach its start-up voltage earlier in the morning and stay active later in the day, maximizing daily energy yield.

We're not sure which controller or panels you're using, but as an example: with a 150/40 controller, the "150" refers to the maximum input voltage. Your system voltage should ideally stay about 10% below this maximum to ensure safe operation.

Victron did right by me but the dealer network is horrible.

UPDATE: Victron made it right in the end. After emailing Victron, not their repair centers, I received a response. They took swift corrective action after noting the months it took to go through the RMA and repair process. I have a system that functions correctly and I couldn't be more pleased. This comment originally was one star and is now five stars for Victron as a company. HOWEVER, SEE INDICTMENT OF REPAIR CENTER NETWORK BELOW.
I ordered a Multiplus II compact inverter charger off of Amazon from a retailer in Quebec. Received it in March, installed it in April. New out of the box there were problems and it wouldn't invert DC to AC. I contacted the retailer that had me go through troubleshooting steps to prove out no problems on my end. They then helped me find a someone to look at it in Houston because I would have been on the hook for shipping back to Canada. They took over two weeks to perform the testing needed to initiate an RMA and were very unresponsive. Victron had them ship the unit to an authorized repair center in AZ where it remains today. They have had it for almost three weeks and I can't get a response from the guy responsible for the testing and repair. Not having this installed in my camper and working is about to cause me to cancel a trip I planned in August. The RMA and warranty process with Victron has been horrible and going on for nearly five months. Buy their stuff from a physical location near you so if this happens to you, you have someone to deal with it.

Purchased one of this company's…

Purchased one of this company's products, a VICTRON energy "BLUE SMART CHARGER" that is supposed to be a top quality "BLUE TOOTH MONITORING" battery charging system.
I only had 1 use of this unit since purchase in October 2024 for battery maintenance through the winter on my vehicle that is not used during winter, and the object of its operation is to maintain and support the battery health whist this unit is connected.. Unfortunately it appeared to have failed at some point and unbeknown to me when i attempted to start my car taking it out of the garage the battery was flat and the charger was not working(no indicating lights on) though it had mains supply to it, and the fuse in the plug is intact.
The company states a 5 years support guarantee is provided, but TBH i found it so difficult to get this support , and contacting the UK sales support proved fruitless , so i managed to get onto the international customer support portasl, filled out a service request, but have not heard anything from either requests, so AMAZON have supported me with a full refund upon dropping the unit off for return to them.
I will not be purchasing another VICTRON product, even though i was about to buy a system to maintain my MOTORHOME LEISURE BATTERY SETS, but i will be looking elsewhere FOR ALL MY VEHICLES AND MOTORCYCLE CHARGING

Update! Victron have as shown below contacted me "At last" and asked as also shown for me to contact them via the 2 methods that if they read the above they would see that i have already tried both of those options with no response from them, so it is now too late as I have just this morning returned the charger via Evri as requested by AMAZON of whom are refunding me my payment.

Victron controlers( 100/50 are not…

Victron controlers( 100/50 are not worth the trouble. As is well known, no easy access to fuse replacement. App itself is useless to navigate or troubleshoot. Vague and confusing instructions about stying defaults. These units can not tell you or even lead you to issues with the Pv panels or to the BMS boards.$185 for 100/50 junk.The product has so many issues I can’t list them here.No customer service after business hours. Tried to Email them and site wasn’t working. Lost. Sitting staring at junk. The controller may have destroy my MightyMax Lifepo4 100AH BMS boards. $270 battery.Controller may have destroyed my 250w Pv panels… Voltage great.but no amperage …. Enology here I come…This is my updated review. Victron has just responded that my issue is out of their hands. Read their reply if you dare…or care.The reply offered no constructive feedback whatsoever.A salesman’s reply to direct questions, no answers.No service or repair of my equipment even at my expense.No service number. I called the Netherlands, their home office. Was given 3 different numbers with no reply as of today. Was at post office ready to mail dysfunctional device. Great company

I bought a Victron charger second hand, out it was faulty. I sent it to a victron dealer in Fareham. They have been absolutely amazing. Dealt with the fault instantly. Couldn't repair it so replaced it. I'm not easily impressed but wow. There's not many companies like this around any more. I made the mistake of buying cheap Chinese stuff first, obviously it failed. I fully appreciate that Victron is more expensive but believe me, it's worth it.
I have found out that it actually works and the after sale customer service is amazing.
Couldn't recommend them highly enough
