We had some trouble at check-in with card expiring soon (totally our fault). The young guy at the desk was a complete professional for the whole check-in process, spoke great English and was patient while we caused a queue behind us and got ourselves sorted.

The car was great and returning was pretty straightforward.

Miriam at Bergamo Airport was most helpful. We had a small hiccup with credit card not in lead drivers name. She helped us sort this.

"A Nightmare Experience - Predatory Practices!"

Avoid Viaggiare Rent at Bergamo. They gave me a filthy car so I couldn't even check for scratches. The fuel policy is a joke (3/4 tank), making it impossible to refill accurately.

But the worst part: I arrived at the booth on time, but it was empty. The manager finally showed up, ignored the queue, and then charged me a €30 late fee for being ONE MINUTE LATE (18:30 instead of 18:29).

My 5-day rental was €57, and they charged €30 for 1 minute! They also refused to give me a fiscal receipt. This is a tourist trap. Stay away!

I left the car on October 31st and still haven't received the deposit
Please resolve this issue otherwise I will go ahead and file a complaint

I'd like to start by saying, they're not bad, and they're prob one of the better Italian rental companies. At least in my experience.
But there's a few random things that let them down, so a 3 is fair.
- snow chains. Every other company I've used includes these at booking. Not here. An extra 2/3 euros a day for them when you arrive. Ridiculous.
- return at Bergamo. 4pm....they all disappear. Noone at the rental desk in the car park. No instructions either, I had to go out on a limb while heading for a flight and guess that I should take the key back to the desk in the terminal as no drop box.
- different amounts charged as to what was booked through discover cars app. 20euro difference. Most likely just those stupid chains.
- car, dented and heavily scratched all over on every panel.

As I said, small things, but they detract from the enjoyment of the overall experience.

The people were really nice, exceptionally helpful. No issues with condition or cleanliness of the car upon return (although I did get warned to make sure it was clean when returned). Despite extra charges, still cheap enough.

Would I use them again, quite probably as some of the other companies are way way worse.

Multiple hidden charges which doubled rental cost. Hire car much smaller than advertised. Pick up not in terminal as advertised.

Booked in Bergamo airport through autoeurope. The hire was suspiciously cheap, and I should have copped. I booked through autoeurope, which recommended you put in your flight number "in case of delay". I did. It made no difference.

My flight was due in at 8 pm, and landed an hour late at 9 pm. I went to the Viaggiare office, which was shuttered closed. A few minutes later, a staff member returned, and opened the office. They dealt with a customer, who needed a baby car seat which they had to get from another rental office.

So it was close to 9.30 pm before I got to the counter. I was told that the booking was cancelled an hour after the time, and I could "reinstate" the booking if I paid 50 euro.

It is pretty regular for flights to be late. I was rather amazed that this company have such strict rules about cancellation, and I am sure its not about trying to squeeze more money out of customers whose flights are late.

Be warned. Make sure your flight lands in time. Otherwise, don't book with Viaggiare.

In light of their comment below, its good to see that they admit they are not a real rental company, who are in the business of renting cars at airports, where, surprise, surprise, the renter cannot control if the plane lands in time, but are actually in the business of making money out of people whose flights are late.

Excellent service and a clean nice car. Also, when I needed to ask something during rental twice and called the provided landline phone number during business hours, both times my call was answered immediately and all my questions were answered.

Incorrect states it's airport pickup when you have to catch a bus. Staff inattentive and slow - lots of hidden charges

My flight was delayed 3 hours, therefore my original company(not viaggiare) cancelled my booking, Viaggiare provided me with a last minute car, the helpdesk were very information and welcoming. The car was very easy to find from the shuttle bus.

Delivery was very easy and my deposit was released free of charge after 7 days - highly recommend.

Fast and efficient

Had a real shock to find the Viaggiare desk closed when we arrived at Bergamo airport at around 5pm. After about 10 minutes of panic the guy arrived to open the desk but there should have been a sign left saying 'back in 10 minutes'. Everything went smoothly after that

Like last year, the experience with Viaggiare was a very pleasant one, a professional team, everything was explained perfectly and what was offered to us, we received, without hidden clauses and extra payments, from me, like last year, you have 5 stars, thank you for everything.

Viaggiare are easy to deal with, they are efficient and trustworthy. Having experienced a number of other car hire companies, I would gladly recommend Viaggiare

I've waited a couple of weeks after my rental as I didn't want to get bitten on the nose writing a positive review then receiving a bill afterwards like I've read has happened to others.

I must say my experience with Viaggiare Rent at Bergamo Airport has been a positive one. I booked my car thorough Discovery Cars and completed the online check in with Viaggiare as prompted by Discovery Cars. I followed all the rules regarding credit card / documentation so didn't have any unexpected issues there. The deposit was 500€ which again was what I expected.
I was not pestered or pressured into purchasing any additional cover and I was also given a choice of vehicles, either a Fiat Panda or a Mahindra.

The vehicle itself was new with only 9000km on the clock. There was however, more damage to the vehicle on collection than was documented on the handover sheet. I conducted in-depth videos and photos before driving away with the car and sent these to the WhatsApp number provided. I did not receive any response from Viaggiare.

Drop off was easy enough, the office was closed so the keys were dropped through the letterbox as instructed.

My deposit was cleared within 3 days of returning to the UK.

Overall a positive experience and would use again.

Such an easy experience, collection was a breeze, drop off easy, the car was a great new and clean car. Very happy with overall experience.

Nice car. Clean and new. Check in and out were easy. Friendly staff. Very good.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

as per most of the other 1* ratings- this company is a scam.

We returned our vehicle to Bergamo Milan Airport to have it inspected by a member of staff who immediately located two minuscule scratches on the windscreen ( 1mm each, surface marks. Located behind the rear view mirror mount so would not obstruct view of driver. Too minimal to require any repair let alone windscreen replacement)
He located them instantly, we could barely see them when he pointed them out- they were that small. You would not see they were there unless you knew they were there already.

We had no incident that could have caused damage but can’t prove it was there before.

This is a total set-up scam that they were well practiced at.

We tried to object to the claim that we’d caused the damage to be reminded that they had our £900 deposit. They helpfully advised us to pay up for damage as we could not prove we hadn’t done it and to then claim back through the insurance. We were backed into a corner where we had to pay €870.01.

Total scam. Fortunately, we used an independent insurer when we booked this not the Viaggiare one they offer on vehicle collection (from other reviews- their ins is a scam too!) so hopefully we will get our money back.

Ironically, the damage that we pointed out on collecting the car was barely even acknowledged by the staff. Within 20 miles of leaving the airport after collection the car had an SOS warning come up. After an hour of trying to speak with someone at Bergamo Milan office we were told to just ignore it and the car had a slow puncture. So they don’t take that much pride in their fleet.

Please don’t ignore the negative reviews.
