Easy and responsive service!

My poor puppy found something mouldy to eat and became very sick quite quickly. We were speaking to a vet within minutes who then got us in contact with the on call vet for our regular clinic. 30 minutes later my little dog is being treated and thankfully made a very fast full recovery. It was quick and easy. Such a good process to decide if it's worth an after hours call out (and the fee) or not. Saved our little dogs life!

My Moodle has airway sensitivity and I was given some cough syrup to help, I administered it at night and she started making choking and coughing sounds.
I got very concerned and called, it took only a couple minutes to get connected to a Vet, I was reassured that my Moodle was actually just reverse sneezing and that she would be okay soon. This advice was correct, she was fine and all behaviour continued to be normal. Very fast and efficient. Eased all my concern and anxiety.

Video chat - excellent

I used the video chat with my vet as my dog was behaving unusually on a Saturday night.
It was quick and easy. She was lovely and helped ease my mind.
It was much easier than putting my dog in the car and driving up after hours.

Short wait time and the vet was very…

Short wait time and the vet was very caring, kind but also very professional. Our 13 year old Labradoodle has recently been found to have stomach tumors and is on a range of medications. Last night she started to shake all over and her stomach then went hard and started to swell. Our vet was closed for the day so I rang vet chat. The vet was so lovely and remained calm which helped me stay calm. We were worried our dog had bloat, the vet arranged for us to meet our vet and there was less than a minute between speaking with vet chat and my vet ringing me. This made it a bit less stressful! Thankfully our dog didnt have bloat but instead had a reaction to some new medication. The vet chat vet emailed me today to see how Moët was going, this really meant a lot to me and shows they genuinely care. I would highly recommend this service and will most certainly use it again!

So grateful for this service

At first (as with anything I do!) I was a bit sceptical and thought it was too good to be true! But with a senior dog with a fair bit going on, I took a chance and I’m so glad I did. Getting the membership meant I was able to message if I was concerned about my beloved animals health, even for not urgent things but still concerning. They are happy to help and usually receive an answer within 5 minutes (through chat, I haven’t used the call function yet)- they are happy to answer questions and I love that the say they are here for you. They provide advice and will let you know if you do need to follow up or see a vet, or if it’s nothing to worry about they’ll tell you that too which is sometimes all you need. It’s meant so much and is so reassuring knowing that there are vets 24/7 that can assist, especially with my vets not wanting people to call them after hours unless it’s an emergency, and each vet visit costing between $100-$300, so a once off $200 for the whole year is a service I’m so grateful for and I thank the vets from the bottom of our hearts!

Highly recommend this service. At 1am in the morning I was worried about my dog and I was able to receive fantastic assistance from the Vet that put my mind at rest. Was so lovely to have someone connect…

Was so lovely to have someone connect with us so promptly when we were worried about Bailey. Dr Jenna was compassionate and thorough and asked lots of questions about Baileys condition. Her recommendations were helpful and the follow-up email was also reassuring. I was able to undertake protocols that were recommended immediately and things improved and both our family and Bailey seemed more relaxed with having the information at hand. I highly recommend this service for both anxious fur parents and fur babies.

Waste of money

Was hoping to get some treatment such as antibiotics for UTI symptoms, but was given general advice such as moving the mats in different locations. Was advised they cant prescribe antibiotics online. Was a waste of money, at the premium price they are charging. I was actually told that UTI's in dogs are best managed with anti-inflammatories, which is incorrect. Would not recommend this service.

Our vets always aim to provide the best care possible within the limits of telehealth regulations, which unfortunately prevent us from prescribing antibiotics online without a physical examination.

In some cases, anti-inflammatories help keep pets comfortable until an in-person assessment can be arranged, but a physical exam and urinalysis are generally needed to confirm if antibiotics are required. This is because many UTIs can be resistant to certain medications.

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience and appreciate your feedback. If you’d like us to review your consultation further, please reach out at service@vetchat.com.au.

Assistance with post surgery concerns

I had some late-night concerns for my 10-month-old female dachshund who had gotten desexed 4 days prior and was experiencing some swelling.

I called VetChat and was connected with a helpful and friendly vet within minutes. Dr Jenna (hope I got the name right) provided expert advice and also explained the healing process to me to put my mind at ease. Along with this I got a follow-up call to see how my dog was going the next day.

Vet Chat contributed to the horrific

Vet Chat contributed to the horrific, brutal death of my dog when they refused me access to my vet who had injected my dog with an injection that caused him to suffer a 10 hour seizure. My emergency situation was catastrophic, however my vet had closed their clinic and made themselves unavailable even though their website states they are a phone call away. I was completely abandoned by both parties when I was desperate for help.

We are so sorry for your loss Vickie to clarify, VetChat provides after-hours support according to each clinic’s instructions. On the night you contacted us, your regular clinic was closed and had directed us to refer clients to the nearest available 24-hour hospital. We followed those protocols and provided that information.

We know that in moments of crisis it can feel like there are no good options, and we regret how distressing this was for you. Your feedback is very important, and we have shared it with the clinic involved.

Losing a beloved pet in any circumstances is heartbreaking, and our thoughts are with you.

We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience. We can see from your consult history that you were seeking a prescription for little Jed. As outlined on our FAQ page, due to Australian regulations, our vets generally cannot provide prescriptions via telehealth. Instead, they focus on providing tailored medical advice and guidance to support your pet’s care at home.

We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to reach out to us at service@vetchat.com.au if you’d like us to review your consultation further- we'd be happy to assist.

Cat injury online consult

On Sunday morning we discovered our cat had been in a fight with a open wound across his cheek. We were worried he may need antibiotics urgentl. It was fantastic to be able to call an online vet for a video chat. Call was answered in a few minutes and i postedcphotos of the wound for vet to view. Without all the drama of getting our cat to an after hours, we established he'd be fine to wait to Monday for our regular vet to give antibiotics. Fab service ! Especially appreciated as it was a bitter and wet day and so good not having to leave home to get the reassurances we needed!

Very kind, caring option to use to help look after your loved pets

My two young pups and I are a bit isolated in a rural community and I have some disabilities.
I don't drive and my lovely local vet gets inundated with work sometimes.
Our budget is also a little tight.
I had questions about girls on heat and a few others and rang VetChat. Today we had a consultation with Dr Lucy, it saved me time and money and our vet's time too.
Thank you Sinead, Sam and Dr. Lucy for your great information and sound advice.
You helped me even when I struggle using my limited technology and skills.
I have now taken the option of a years membership.

No ability to consult after hours with a vet locally, for a non-emergency (but still concerning) issue

I had no ability to consult with a vet after hours as what I was concerned about wasn’t an emergency as such, and that’s generally the only reason to call after normal hours. Being able to reach out to a vet via live chat, after hours, for a far less fee than what an after hours call out would cost, is not only so incredibly convenient, but relieving at the same time. I was able to gain trusted advice, implement that, and now my 14 week old puppy is back to normal. So very grateful. I highly recommend VetChat 🐾☺️
