Many people were dissatisfied with the payment process, encountering issues with rejected transactions, locked funds, and difficulties transferring money. Customers also frequently reported problems with the app's functionality, including crashes and an inability to add money or access features. Venmo has multiple technical errors…

Venmo has multiple technical errors which make it impossible to add money to your balance or make a purchase even on EBay. Support is quick to blame anyone except Venmo and is really incompetent saying they have no supervisors or any way to solve the problems. I do not see how they can do any business. There are multiple other technical problems including frozen screens and inability to input data on screens as the keyboard will not appear. I guess the will likely go out of business at this rate.

If I could rate a zero

If I could rate a zero, I would. Same experiences as every other review. Terrible App interface, no way to contact a human, IF you are able to finally get thru to a human, they are worthless. I wont use them again. I recommend no one else does too.

The absolute worst platform…

The absolute worst platform functionality wise. The setup is great if it worked all the time but you guys are constantly locking crypto balances saying for security reasons. Taking more money then quoted on crypto transactions and just all around seems like not a very transparent company. I didn’t have access to my account last night to sell crypto in order to buy my son dinner!! I trusted you enough to let you guys mess up something so important by not allowing me access to my funds. You guys should definitely be compensating customers for this terrible inconvenience.

FRAUDULENT AND CRIMINAL

I HAVE NEVER KNOWN A COMPANY AS UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISHONEST AS VENMO. THESE PEOPLE ARE REFUSING TO PAY ME MY MONEY AND ARE BLAMING IT ON FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY THAT THEY REFUSE TO SHOW ANY EVIDENCE OF ON MY ACCOUNT. NOT ONLY IS THIS UNACCEPTABLE ITS CRIMINAL!! VENMO SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS PERMANENTLY!! WRONGFULLY WITHHOLDING MONEY FROM CUSTOMERS, LYING AND MAKING UP STORIES ABOUT FRAUD SIMPLY TO COVER THEIR OWN TRACKS IS UNDOUBTEDLY AN INJUST CRIMINAL ACT!!

Are they trying to Defraud me?

On Sept. 20th, 2025, I canceled two payments totaling $1600.00. (The user's email was not connected to a Venmo Account). By Venmo's own policy, a canceled payment is supposed to be automatically refunded. Here it is, Oct. 17th, 2025, and I still do not have my refund. My bank has gone through and shown me all my processed Debit card payments and there are no refunds. HOWEVER, and this is where the real problem lies, there are FOUR transactions totaling twice the amount of my two canceled transactions. In other words, instead of refunding the money, they ran the "refunds" as "POS Purchase" attempting to take another $1600.00 from my account. My bank thankfully denied these.
Now, Venmo is saying their transaction history says the refunds were processed so they HAD to have been completed correctly and my Bank is wrong. Well, I now have print outs of all my card activity and there are ZERO refunds or deposits, only the four attempts to take money. All I ask is for my refund to be completed, they pass the buck. Customer Service is RUDE and UNHELPFUL often responding with what are "Canned" responses. The specialist simply sends me messages that say the refund was processed and the problem is with my bank. I am going to file complaints with anyone who will listen.
DO NOT USE VENMO if you value your money and you want respect from a customer support standpoint.

Venmo is terrible

I would give venmo a 0 but they won't let me. I have spent the last 3 days trying to link my account/debit card and now my Venmo account is temporarily frozen and I can't get it unfrozen. I am not getting emails telling me anything like they said and I can't get a live person and the stupid chat bot. WORST SCAM EVER.

Don't even sign up. I signed up for a one time payment. Never used again. But now I get calls every few weeks that someone is trying to change the password. I can't even shut the account. As I am writing this I am getting back to back to back to back calls. They want me to put in the pin that was sent to my phone. Got none.

Venmo's 'Usery' practices

Adding funds to Venmo now takes 6 calendar days, irrespective of the the funding source meeting it's account obligation of performing an ACH within 24-28 hours. Venmo received my funds from my bank on day 2 and is keeping them for 5 more days before giving me access. This is no longer a convenience. Their revenue model to maximize float interest earnings smacks of usury, and clearly puts Venmo's interest ahead of it's customers, unfairly enriching Venmo while inconveniencing us.

Awful, awful, awful.

I got a new debit card and tried to add it to my account. Venmo locked it and I have spent literal weeks trying to get them to do ANYTHING about it. I’ve sent the necessary documents. I’ve talked to customer support. I even ordered a Venmo debit card so my account would work, but guess what???? IT NEVER ARRIVED. Big surprise. Don’t trust these idiots with your information.

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON MY VENMO DEBIT…

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON MY VENMO DEBIT CARD- March 27th - 28th, 2025, 3 unauthorized transactions were made with my venmo debit card totaling $455.35. They were made in another country and I had my debit card with me. I called Venmo and they took the information and filed my dispute for a full refund. All 3 transactions came back denied. Their reason, "After careful investigation, we've determined that an error has not occurred and the dispute claim has not been resolved in your favor. This decision was made because our records show that this transaction was processed correctly." I admit I did not read any disclosure or anything....but when Venmo advertisements are encouraging people to deposit their paychecks into their Venmo accounts...you would think that there would be some security in place. I think there should be a big warning for people about the potential loss of funds. I wouldn't have used Venmo in that case. Venmo isn't looking out for their customers. What's to stop one of their employees from taking account numbers and making bogus charges?

Why bury the lead?

As of September 24, 2025, I have deliberately removed all of my positive reviews from Trustpilot. This was not because those businesses failed me, but because Trustpilot itself has proven corrupt.

They permanently censored my legitimate, fully documented review of eBay (submitted as a registered LLC seller with proof of business activity). Even after providing evidence, their “Content Integrity Team” declared the case closed, keeping my review offline while allowing companies like Rakuten to challenge or suppress critical feedback.

By leaving only my negative reviews here, I want to make clear: the imbalance is created by Trustpilot, not by me. My contributions were balanced across 1–5 stars until Trustpilot chose to silence the critical side.

This platform does not operate in good faith. I will no longer post reviews here. Instead, I will be reporting my findings to regulators and leaving reviews on platforms Trustpilot cannot manipulate.

Venmo sent me an email on Sept 21 with the bold headline: “Spend $50, get $50 cash back.” Sounds great — except the crucial condition, that the reward was limited to the first 10,000 people nationwide, was buried deep in the fine print. No counter, no timer, no notice if it was already gone. If they truly wanted urgency, they’d put that fact front and center. Hiding it makes it look like a trap.

When I tried to participate the same day:

My Venmo Debit Card transaction was declined.

I was told to “add funds to your balance.”

Tried instant transfer with my debit card → declined again.

Customer service said the only option was an ACH transfer, which takes days — by which time the hidden 10,000 cap could easily be gone.

Result: wasted instant transfer fees, wasted hours of time, and extreme frustration — all while Venmo gets to advertise an offer most people can’t actually redeem.

This is bait-and-switch style advertising. If Venmo intended this in good faith, “Limited to first 10,000” would be in the headline, with a live counter. Until then, consumers should beware.
