If we know to do our work we can earn in Upwork. If the clients are payment verified the freelancers are paid as agreed upon without any hassle.

I use to love Upwork but their support team has gone radically down

I used them a lot in 2019 but had multiple issues even then with having to verify identity 3x and the support team still blocking my account

I thought now why not go back and see what roles or opportunities I may find with AI, course creation and influencer marketing

To my sheer surprise with zero communication from them all this time, I find my account blocked/revoked and a warning for having a link of my courses on the portfolio page

I send an appeal to their team and Jann replies. I specifically communicate professionally no one communicated, that the pencil is blocked out to edit, and that I cannot remove.

She replies again with zero help, zero progress, zero notice of the issues or fixing them.

I as of this review send a detailed ABC 123 email essentially doing her job for her as a Creator in 2026 for a Creator Led platform

Depending on the next response, I will be sharing publicly this experience in detail for Upwork to take even more seriously - I encouraged her to listen truly and take action truly and/or escalate if she does not know what to do.

I demand Upwork send a manual FREE verification link immediately. It is fraudulent to advertise "free" verification for new freelancers then force payment by blocking all support channels.

My 100% approved profile is locked for 19+ hours with ZERO support:
1. No free verification email sent
2. Live Chat disabled
3. Submit request button hidden
4. Support email closed "auto replies not supported
5. Only option: Pay $5.25 for "free" verification

Upwork has my email on file and I am ready to verify with my government CNIC.

If no resolution in 2 hours, filing complaints with Better Business Bureau and legal authorities.

I will update this review when Upwork resolves.

Is using Upwork for more than 10 years now and has remained a great platform. A variety of work comes in mostly from startup clients, but from some enterprise clients as well. Work quality is great and Upwork's support services are perfect as well. Thanks

It was good opportunity

I haven't tried with other freelancing platforms like Upwork. The platform really gives you a sense of security since clients are verified, so you can make sure that you will be paid for the time spent working with a client.

Upwork has a versatile approach to employment, work ethics and does a great job protecting their clients. The app is easy to use and offers a great foundation for freelancer and business startup. Thank you upwork!!

I recently went through the manual identity verification process which required a bit of patience, and you definitely have to be strategic to filter out spam job postings. However, once you optimize your profile and know what to look for, the escrow system makes it a highly secure and effective platform for managing remote workflows.
