However they were excellent an my claim for storm damage was resolved and paid within 2 weeks, that has surely been one of the fastest
So I can highly recommend them
Dissatisfied customer
I contacted uia insurance in August this asking for help with a repair they didn't offer me any help watsoever so I gave up asking they then contacted me mid Oct asking about my claims ent loads of pictures of the work and bills still waiting to see if they are going to pay out because they keep asking for more imfermation.?????
Glad I'm no longer with them
it's almost impossible to speak to someone and I was cut off three times. I wanted to terminate my policy with them as I could get it over a hundred pounds cheaper else where. Easier said than done.
9 years, wasting my money.
Been with this broker for 9 years, they insured my home through Covea insurance, an awful french mutual insurance company, best avoided, UIA started out as a partner to trade unions, you would have thought trustworthy, you would have thought wrong. First time I claimed in 9 years, not covered. On UIA paperwork, cables covered, Covea say only underground cables! Both companys duplicitous. They don't respond to negative posts, so their customer service people (if they have any) don't have much to do, if they did respond to this saying email us and we will look into it just don't bother, just put it down to experience and look into a reputable broker and insurance company. UIA and Covea. I gave 1 star. Only because you can't give them no star.
Is this UIA behaviour acceptable?
Renewal notice took my house insurance premium from £480 to £1004 pounds! I thought it was a joke. I went to Gocompare & discovered that I could get a policy with pretty much the same terms for £235. The Saga quote was £533. I rang UIA, waited more than 15 minutes and was told that premiums had risen due to building costs. The guy listened to me expressing astonishment at the increase, asked me what other quotes I had and for how much & then went to speak to his manager. I had given him the Saga quote. He came back with a quote of £620!! I think this is sharp practice on the part of UIA. I will definitely not trust them or use them again.
Appalling 'customer service' when…
Appalling 'customer service' when attempting to amend home insurance prior to a house move. After hours on the phone (apparently the only way to make contact!) I hope I have at last succeeded in complete cancellation as intend to go elsewhere. Have made a written complaint and will be relieved to escape UIA's incompetence.
Awful, scammers
Awful. Tried to cancel several times today after they tried to increase my policy by £200. Both me and my husband have been on the phone several times, listening to the dreadful music, for a total of 2 hours so far. Managed to speak to someone after clicking the option for 'thinking of leaving us', the chap was from renewals and apparently couldn't cancel my renewal and instead told me to do it online. I requested to speak to someone else and eventually got through to someone who said they would cancel my policy, and even though I'm paid up, apparently I'm not allowed to cancel my direct debit (having read other reviews that they still take money even when no longer authorised to) as I will be charged by them £25. Seems like a ploy for then to keep accessing my money when not authorised which is theft. So glad to be leaving them now. Wouldn't recommend to anyone!
Most apauling service - Cancelled and still Money taken out
Most apauling service. Similar to previous entry - Tried to find an email (as this was stated as a way to contact) - then phoned the following week to cancel the policy which had gone up by 200 pounds (happy to pay good money for a good service) - 1/2 on phone - cancelled policy. Did not send confirmation as promised. I was then informed that my bank account had gone into overdraft - noticed that 717 Pounds had been taken out by UIA. Another weekend trying to find an email address - googled it and again this was not it. My husband spent another 1/2 hour on hold this morning. We have been offered to complain - more time possibly without acknowledging that this has cost me 2 weekends, nerves, money. I wonder what happens when you try to put in a claim. The person who wrote back to me from one of the (invalid) email addresses I found on Google explained that ownership had changed. This may explain why people had previously been happy with the service. Don't touch!!!
Disappointed with UIA INSURANCE
I have been with UIA INSURANCE for several years and I've been using automatic renewal but this year the price at gone by £77 so I rang customer services and asked them not to automatically renew as I would be looking elsewhere for my home insurance because of the large price increase I did also ask if the renewal price could be reduced but the young lady on the phone informed me that that was the price and the company does not reduce the renewal price to my dismay 2 weeks later £391.44 was taken out of my account so I rang customer services which took me ages to get through to someone I spoke to another young lady who said I didn't give them enough time to stop the payment she also informed me but it would take two weeks put my money back in my account I still haven't received my money 3 weeks later I rang customer services again to be told for some reason my money hadn't been sent to my account I have now been told it should be in my account within the next several days I am very disappointed with this company and like most people I am struggling this year and I need my refund to insure my property the customer service people don't seem to have any empathy with their clients so I will take my business elsewhere I will not recommend UIA it makes me wonder what would have happened if I would have had to make a claim .
Not a 5 star company!…
Absolutely disgusted by the customer service I have received today when I called to discuss my renewal. The renewal letter arrived end of Nov,23 and my renewal is due 19/12. I asked the agent why such a short time is given to a customer to make decision on whether to go ahead or cancel. The agent said the renewal letter is sent 6weeks before renewal but mine was sent less than 3 weeks ago. I told her I didn’t get enough time as I was very unwell so don’t want to renew till I am happy with the quote. The renewal price this year is £100 more than last year. She didn’t care if I renew or not. She wasn’t helpful nor wished to discuss the renewal, I was shocked with her attitude, poor customer service. I told her to put the supervisor on phone, she put me on hold then disconnected my call. I don’t want the renewal to go ahead so she didn’t advise how this will work. I don’t want any payment taken from my account. She goes the payment will go ahead as it is set up by direct debit when i have made a lump sum payment last year. Where is this question of direct debit coming from? I don’t want to renew so I have right to do what I want. Very rude lady called Michelle. She does not know her customer service. I’m not taking free of charge service, I pay for my so called 5 star insurance when actually it’s zero based on my experience, My insurance is due tomorrow so I’m technically their customer who has paid for the service. They are not 5 star and their insurance price is so so high in comparison to other companies.
Rip off Merchants
Absolutely hopeless.
Had to make a claim for first time in over 40 years on my aio pc, To cut a long story short they had my pc for 2 months and I got a different story every time I rang. In despair I told them to send it back unrepaired. It arrived the next day!. It's a shame I had to give them one star as that is two too many. avoid at all costs.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, can’t get through to the correct person to just cancel a renewal. Passed from pillar to post, I think they’re hoping you’ll give up & just accept their renewal offer. If I could have given a zero, I would have.
If there were no stars I would give…
If there were no stars I would give them none. This is a company that will make false claims that everything was your fault and avoid pay-out. I tried to ring them to claim for a bout of suspected dry rot that happened when a leaking tap in the storeroom caused the underlay to become water logged. The only time I noticed was when I tried to get something out of a cardboard box and I found the box had stuck to the floor. We immediately repaired the leak but not long after I noticed a fine red dust all over the storeroom.
The insurance agent whom I called first tried to claim that they would not cover for escape of water. We found the clause in the policy that escape of water was covered. Then they tried to say it was our fault because they would not cover for gradual wear and tear or damage caused by failure which a reasonable person should have noticed. What is the point of paying for home insurance when they are not there to help you when you need? We've never had to claim on a home insurance policy before and the first time you do, it is not only traumatic, going back and forth with emails and phone calls and then find out it is ultimately futile. Avoid this company at all costs.
Awful insurer
Awful insurer. Our policy turned out to be worth less than the paper it was printed on. Check ALL their small print or better yet choose another company.

After starting a claim over 4 yrs ago our experience with UIA has been one blunder after the next. To top it all off they now claim they are not going to deliver against our contract with them. FOS here we go! Absolutely dire customer service - stay away
