This bank is so stupid
This bank is so stupid, I don't know how they even keep the lights on. Had to call 3 times because my card got blocked. Still no resolution. Internal resolution team have no idea how to get things done. So glad I can close my account. I don't have to worry about overseas scammers, I have to worry about the banks in this country. DO NOT bank with this bank unless you don't want access to your money.
A potential to earn high interest with…
A potential to earn high interest with growth from your money monthly and be able to start thinking by doing a budget before u spend in each month and be able to have left over money to save by a good habit. It Is world wide international if u choose to go to holiday with your saving in different currency regardless your destination and be able to group by most bank and u could see all in one go wheee the money in - went -or missing as they protect their customer with different layer of security to protect a cyber attack into your account and the rate to introduce family and friends is very generousity.
UBank has lost the plot
I was a loyal UBank customer for over a decade. For years, they were brilliant (competitive interest rates, simple tools, and genuinely user-friendly features.) But something changed around 2023.
They started stripping away the very things that made them great. The automatic transfer between Spend and Save accounts- gone. The ability to pay bills directly from a savings account- gone. Now, if you want to pay a bill, you have to shuffle money back and forth between accounts like it’s 2005.
The final insult? Making it harder to earn interest. To qualify, the aggregate balance across your savings accounts has to increase by at least $1 every month. In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, punishing people who can’t keep growing their savings is tone-deaf.
UBank has gone from being a smart, customer-focused digital bank to one that seems utterly out of touch. Their recent policies don’t encourage saving, they punish people for struggling. After more than ten years, I’ve moved my money to Macquarie Bank, which offers competitive rates without hoops or gimmicks.
UBank’s decline has been sad to watch and, frankly, appalling to experience.

Ubank - No longer fit for purpose
Ubank FORGOT THEIR CUSTOMERS — I TOOK MY MONEY:
Had Sweep… then took it away
Had Chat… took that away too
Had Scheduled Payments… gone
Had Secure Mail… gone
Could Pay Bills from Savings… taken away
Got interest if $500 deposited… taken away
Goalposts moved AGAIN… now no Interest unless I "grow" my savings by > $1 (Interest earned NOT counted) - so I took my money away
Ubank forgets their customers. They take themselves away.
Really bad
Really bad. They used to be great
4 reasons:
1) They got rid of the sweep function.
2) When they updated their platform, all the regular transfers were stopped. This cost me over $500 in missed interest because of their doing.
3) If the account does not grow over a month, then all interest is forfeited.
4) Have to use SMS to log in from a browser, every single time.

I switched to Macquarie because Ubank's new rule meant I'd lose interest for not growing my balance.

I applied for a savings account via the UBank app (the only way to do it). I entered only my name, address, age and driver's licence details only to be summarily rejected. I called to ask why and was told I had failed to meet some criterion they apply but no details could be supplied! Given what little info I had provided, how could this be so? One wonders if it's a case of ageism given I'm a retired pensioner. Highly unsatisfactory. Would give zero stars if that was an option.
Just drained my account
Just drained my account. This ridiculous $1.00 addition to the combined balance doesn't work for me. As a person that has retired voluntarily and has taken their super and put it into a HISA I rely on my monthly interest payment plus I dip into my savings sometimes and don't replace it. I've gone over to Macquarie where I'll get 4.6% for the first 4 months and 4.25% thereafter. Absolutely zero hoops and no increasing balances or withdrawal penalties. Even their transaction account pays 2% interest. They were good but got greedy like ING. I urge others to boycott Ubank.
Using my funds for their own interest on overnight money markets
Used UBank for ages, no problems, money always arrives same day when withdrawing and depositing but after they changed their conditions for their high interest I withdrew 250K to change banks and low and behold this time no OSKO, they said 1-2 business days, it's been 2 days already and still no money! Must be nice to use other people's hard earned money to put on overnight money markets to make more interest for banks when the customer is being literally screwed out of getting their own interest!!! Don't use this bank.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. Lure you in with high interest but make it impossible to get the interest. Customer service is slow and un helpful. Definitely do NOT use this bank.
Not safe for your assets

UBANK ARE LYING THIEFS
Ubank are a disgraceful thriving organisation...they locked my account 3 months ago pending identification verification..I obliged by their requests not once but twice and was thrown another excuse and still they have over 4,500 dollars of mine at their hands and they refuse to give me access or to even close my account and send my funds to another account...I've taken them to AFCA but no luck....I'm a single mother of 2 young boys on a pension and yet that doesn't matter to them....UBANK YOU SHOULD BE DISGUSTED IN YOURSELVES ....DO THE RIGHT THING AND GIVE ME MY MONEY SO MY BOYS CAN HAVE WHAT THEY DESPERATELY NEED ..have some compassion I provided all you asked for now do the right thing in return and honour your word.
Greedy and sneeaky using loophole to keep our money.
So angry with Ubank for basically conning us out of our interest we are due.
After depositing a large sum of money we got to the endof the month and we did not recive almost $1000 interest we were due. We followed up and were told we had to deposit a further $500 per month to get the interest.
Ridiculous and just a loophole to rob retired people of their income.
Shame on this greedy bank.
No longer a high interest at call bank
I am a retiree with significant cash funds outside the superannuation environment and have found UBank a useful place to hold these over many years. However in the last couple of years the experience has been degraded by the management's changes that are all designed to make you not qualify for what they describe as "Bonus" interest ie normal rates for an online high interest at call account. The upcoming 1 October changes described by other reviewers were the final straw for me and I have just transferred about $70k to a competitor. And what makes it worse is that they misleadingly claim these changes are designed to help you. Their responses to poor online reviews are laughable. They are in effect no longer a high interest at call online bank as they have made the conditions impractical to satisfy. I suspect they are about to find out that this market is very competitive and they will lose a lot of accounts to competitors with much less restrictive qualifying conditions to satisfy to receive the headline rates of interest.
A Blow for Everyday Savers
UBank has always been my go-to for savings because the bonus interest was simple to qualify for. But with their new rule coming in October, that’s about to change.
Now, to earn the bonus rate, I need to make sure my balance at the end of the month is higher than it was at the beginning. At first, this doesn’t sound too bad — but in reality, it’s a trap for many customers. Life isn’t neat and tidy. If I pay a big bill, withdraw for an emergency, or simply dip into my savings during the month, my balance could end up lower than where it started, even if I’ve been adding money along the way. That means I miss out on the bonus interest entirely.
This feels unfair, especially for people who aren’t expecting the change. UBank’s accounts used to reward consistent saving without punishing you for using your own money. Now, the rules feel restrictive and a bit sneaky — offering a headline rate that many of us won’t actually be able to achieve.
For me, this is a big disappointment. It makes UBank’s savings product less customer-friendly, and I’m seriously considering whether it’s still the best place for my money.
Can't even open an account
Like many other folks, I couldn't open an account. The only thing they tell you is that "something went wrong" or some BS like that; nothing more. Pathetic! Right now, I've been waiting for over 45 minutes for someone to pick up my call :(.. It looks like I'm gonna quit waiting very soon. Waste of time & never again :(. Ha! They cut me off just before the hour. As I said: "waste of time & never again"! :(
