I’ll recommend parent to take there kids it is worth it ., it’s so big and must supervise the kids when crowded .

We have been members on and off for 5 years and I am sorry but I am disgusted with the zoo this time. Had I known I would never have bought another year membership.
1. Lego building- no one can complete the models because many parts are missing!! Even members of staff telling kids desperate to finish their creations being told "there's only 5 of those in the whole room!" If you can't stock and keep stock of parts DONT BOTHER
2. 90% of the toilets are closed! No explanation why and just a line of portaloos in the carpark. None of which have water supply so no one can wash their hands!! So if novavirus is on your bucket list, here's the place to come!
3. Now we have a load of "game" shed and grabber machines in the zoo...Dont waste your money on the grabbers I literally watch one person get the perfect position... the grabber didn't close until it was half way back up!!

TZ, I am incredibly disappointed in what you have done. You've become money grabbing and dirty. This will be our last membership year with you.

Sadly a first and last visit.
I hired a mobility scooter and as a first time user was pleased to see in their terms I would be shown how to use it.
I wasn't, when we went to ask for help I was told it's simple a child can do it , thanks for that insult.
The zoo itself is dreadful , 70% of the cages were empty, very few animals outside to see , and as a mobility scooter user ( or a mum with a double buggy ) I was unable to get through the doors into most of the animal houses unaided.
As for the toilets, filthy.
No toilet roll in the dispensers at 10.30am and the floor awash with water.
I was unable to use the disabled loos as they require a radar key I dint have.
Overall a hugely disappointing experience made worse by the fact it's a fair walk from the disabled parking to the mobility scooter collection point, and then having to stand and queue to get one.
Why these are not placed nearer the entrance is beyond me .
Is it worth a visit, no, very few animals and bad disabled facilities and dirty toilets.

We came to see the animals. And let’s be honest most of the enclosures were empty. No animals in site even though we went round again to see if we could see them.

The toilets were appalling!! The ladies toilets didn’t flush so the smell and seats and toilets were covered in bodily fluids. I refused to change my 2 babies in the toilets and did it in the pushchair instead as it was cleaner and not open to everyone seeing them with no clothes on!

The gruffalo trail was the best bit but even that was dirty and needed a quick dust.

Not worth the money at all.

Average experience at this zoo, it's not warranted all the terrible reviews but twycross do need to take note and improve on a few things.

Poor signage and one way system is not enforced which meant that things were Busy. Along with no staff members I didn't see one zoo keeper either in with cleaning or feeding any animals. Didn't see any fresh food or toys really in with the animals and they often looked bored which was sad.

Toilets old and broken and unclean as you move through the park, though I did see people cleaning them it's a mammoth task to replace all rolls etc.

The gruffalo zone was nice for toddlers and lots of money spent on that area.

Butterfly attraction was beautiful and my favourite. The animals were around in their dens but most weren't out probably as the zoo was so busy!

Elephants have been moved to Blackpool for breeding but the giraffes were really good.

The zoo is conserving animals for the future and I get that purpose but I think a lot of the critically endangered ones were in on their own in these huge enclosures which was really sad. The big cats I did see that day were either lolling around or pacing a lot.

There was no one to ask about the behaviour at any point. Sadly No enclosures were manned.

Plenty of staff however taking £7.50 a pop for kids to soft play for an hour in the cafe area. Where I'm sure all parents want to do is sit and rest or pass peacefully through on their way out of the door. !

I can return for a year and probably will as it's our local zoo, but will definitely lower my expectations.

Twycross are competing with their rivals nicely on the quality and professional look website and getting people through the doors at around £100 per family. It was packed!

Plenty of decent picnic benches to sit and eat on. Definitely bring your own hamper though the food wasn't expensive it can add up for a family on a day out.

I can't see how any of the big money generated is being spent to improve the lives of the animals in the zoo, though I will go back on a quieter day and hopefully be able to notice more positive things when the zoo is less crowded.

Freaking awful.
An ape (I believe it was a three-tailed Mushu Mushu Gibberous Hiberrounus) threw its faecal matter at me, and then a really hot 10/10 student volunteer with curly hair and dark eyes laughed in my face, mocking me. I will not be visiting again. This zoo is an embarrassment to all that is holy. The antichrist himself resides within these walls. Ice cream tastes good tho and that one student volunteer is really cute. 5 stars.

We payed £140 for a family of 6 on entrance and was extremely disappointed to find that once in and walking around, there were bouncy castles that our children wanted to go on near the penguins that charged per child, when we we were leaving we told our children they could go on the indoor play centre, to our surprise, again £8 per child plus the adult fee also £25 for 4 coffees and teas.
Entrance is expensive enough but trying to squeeze even more out of families when they arrive is distasteful.
We will no be returning

2 stars only because my son really enjoyed the Gruffalo experience. All indoor parts of the Gruffalo experience were dirty and dusty, staff in understaffed cafeteria areas were all inept children with seemingly no enthusiasm or energy for the job.

Felt more like a fairground with animal sideshows.

Incredibly disappointing.

totally chaotic , almost half the animals not available to view . huge queue in car park for 10.am entry . Numpty member of staff came down the queue and asked all pre booked to follow him . he led us to the front of they queue then left , those who were already in the queue protested loudly that they were also pre booked and we were queue jumping . i shouted to the staff member responsible to sort out the problem but he litterally ran away , leaving us to explain to the other people in the queue . complete incompitence ! . on entry to the entry desk a large amount of people just walked straight through the " VIP" lane for free as it was totally unstaffed . Why had i paid over £100 ? . only half the animals were evident , the place was very run down .very poor signage and no maps avaialble . would not return , dont waste your money .

I visited this place few days ago.The zoo seems totally empty.There was nothing to see over there as expected.Personally i feel like its a waste of money .Nothing interesting to see..!!

Had a family day out at Twycross yesterday and we all had a great time. My two year old loved the Gruffalo Discovery Land and meeting the Gruffalo. We especially enjoyed the penguin talk/feeding and the giraffe talk. Although it was busy, we had no trouble finding a parking space, picnic table for lunch or seeing all of the animal exhibits. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. Many thanks for a great day.

Wish I'd checked the TripAdvisor views before we went. £75 for 3 of us. I think we saw more animals in the form of roadkill on the 2 hour journey to and from the place.
Absolutely rubbish. Most of the zoo is a giant dirty empty gruffolo attraction with broken buttons that kids can pick off and eat as they're not attached to anything.
Inside the gruffolo enclosures are dirty and dusty and cobwebs everywhere.i don't expect it to be pristine in a zoo, but run a brush round daily at least.
Toilets weren't vile with next to no water coming out the taps and the dryer not working. Not enough wash your hands points even coming out from the goat enclosure says wash your hands everywhere...but neglected to provide a washing area.
Most of the enclosures were empty. Think we only saw butterflies, lorikeets and penguins. Only 2 snake tanks in the reptile House but couldn't see the snakes. Didn't see any of the big cats, even the monkey enclosures were empty! Normally they're swinging about at least.
The walkthrough events were one tiny area.
No clear paths, the signs were useless including the gruffolo direction as it leads you off to goats and snakes and when you come out it doesn't show you were to go to continue the story. More stuff for the kids than for the animals. Think it's a child's park with enclosures to house animals, but the animals havnt been installed yet! All fences were broken and unpainted. Most areas we walked to weren't even open, and it was hard to navigate. The map wasn't true to reality.
I saw the price of hook a duck on walking past £6! Absolutely crazy.

I was excited to come and see the Lego animals which you thought a rope was sufficient to stop dragged up kids climbing on them. Nearly every rope was pulled down the second time we walked past them, and kids were just walking under it. The Lego bricks were good to be fair. Didn't use any food outlets as we brought a picnic, just one bench at most enclosures but if you do go to the picnic and sitting areas, there is sufficient seating.

Was excited to go to the lorikeets too and when we finally found them after trying to follow the map for ages, there's a big sign outside saying the lorikeets aren't feeding so just come and look, so we went in the CORRECT door, to be forced into a q....to buy food. And although I usually would've, I didn't as they had the sign out. I left the q and squeezed round eventually but it's hard to go in without having to join the q. The clean your feet pads were dry as a bone. Only one dryer working in the lorikeet area. Just a really poor excuse of a zoo. Left after an hour and a half.

Came about 10 years ago and really enjoyed it and all the animals. Less animals now, and enclosures are empty of the animals they do have. Definitely geared it more towards toddlers but wasted so much space doing it and it's all empty space!

Will not be using our free return for the year and can only assume you've done it to get people to visit because it's so rubbish at the moment!

Me and my family went to Twycross the other day and we saw the pictures and advertised animals and we all got very excited so my partner booked online much to my surprise over £100 for me my partner and 3 children once we got there and parked up after a nearly 15 minute walk to the entrance we got in and was greeted with a polar bear made of lego odd I thought but ok. So as we walked around for the whole day we may of seen 9 out of all the animals advertised not ideal with 3 young kids excited to see animals now I understand that animals can't be forced to come out of their enclosure but I am struggling to see where my £100 went towards from our side seeing as we didn't get a zoo experience in my opinion and my partner agrees we couldn't see the reptiles as it was under improvement much as alot of the other enclosures so what did I actually pay for ? I do think the website should be more accurate and what will actually be available upon booking tickets especially when we had 3 very unhappy children who didn't get to see much of anything really altho there was an abundance of lego animals which I don't understand as its literally just a sculpture there it's not like they are life size or gives any information them they get put behind a rope and are expecting all children to respect the no touching policy....their kids yes obviously it's down to the parents to ensure they don't get touched but Twycross are taking people's money to show case whilst animals which we didn't see. Think it's needs to go back to drawing board and what they can actually offer you if they take your money.

My husband and I attended the zoo on Thursday 8th August with our granddaughter, I was so excited for her but the weather wasn't great (not zoos fault), I feel there was to many people let in and not enough staff to cope, most animals were inside eating or sleeping, didn't look conservation friendly at all, waited half an hour for access to a wheelchair as I am disabled, not worth the money paid and will not be returning in the future

Didn't read the reviews as live local and have been here many times, and it's always been a great day out, unfortunately it appears to have deteriorated significantly in recent times, way to many empty enclosures was the main issue and as previous people have said, it appears to be moving towards a kids amusement arcade and away from a zoo, very sad we will not be returning.

Visited with daughter and grandson and it was a highly disappointing day. The animal enclosures were mostly empty with no access to view animals inside in most areas, plus paint peeling on animal housing and the glass on a lot of the enclosures was covered in stickers and some had large cracks in them. There was little if any evidence of any novel enrichment for the few animals we did see, the poor leopard was pacing continuously. Even worse was the sight of a penguin swimming with a tissue in its beak and another with a child’s dummy! Totally unacceptable and no sign of any zoo keepers about to ensure this doesn’t happen. There was more children’s playground activities than animals, playgrounds, bouncy castle, fairground stalls, most of which required paying extra for. However to me the place seemed more like a play area than a zoo, the priority was surely all wrong. If I knew how to report this to whoever inspects zoos in this country I would. Our ticket enabled us to have a return visit, needless to say we won’t be back.

Never again! £112 to see just a few animals.. depressing place.. cannot call this a zoo more like a children's playground.. would not recommend at all...waste of money! Waste of an hour!

We last visited this zoo over 2 years ago and loved it, after today as a family we will not be going back. As previous reviews state there’s a lot of empty enclosures all over grown. The zoo it’s self is massively overpriced! Too many people allowed in at one time, you feel rushed round so other people can see the animals aswell. Walkways really crowed with people. There should definitely be time slots.
Stopped for dinner in the fish and chip shop, fish was slimy with 0 taste. We was even rushed out of there as soon as we had finished they took our tray.
We didn’t get to see many animals at all, this was mainly due to overcrowding of people!
The butterfly house?! This in previous years has been amazing! This time we walked in and saw around 5 butterflies if that!
Such a disappointing day out which cost us around £150.
I also feel like the litter around the park is also shocking. The walk through bird enclosure had empty pots everywhere, birds were flying about with them!
All in all, if you’re thinking about going I would avoid, don’t waste your money!

As a family we like to go at least once a year. This was our third visit this year. It was extremely disappointing and we are yet to see the tiger. It got to the point on this occasion walking around that we started to think that all the real animals had been replaced with Lego ones. Over £100 just to get in, 4 small boxes of chips and 3 drinks cost £30...will not be going back.

Brilliant day out, if you like looking at over grown cages with no wildlife.

The only highlight was the outside catering which we took ourselves, this really saved the day, as 1 ice cream I expect to be pricey in these places but £3.80 was a pure ripoff. I was gonna to ask reception for a crime reference number owing to the fact it was day light robbery. All in all a very disappointing day out with our family. I’ve seen more wildlife walking round our town on a Friday night, like to know if the animals were on holiday this week, thinking they just packed up there suitcase and thought even I’ve had enough of this place. If it wasn’t for the lego animals scattered around the park of which were very well built and very good likeness well apart from that Cheater trying to mount the Gazelle!! In all fairness I think Twycross definatly had a lot of similarities to my own dog. Both being a Shih Tzu.

All in all the only silver lining to the trip was the catering 10/10 would book for every disappointing day trip!
