Very expensive. Moreover, the teacher can only work according to a manual, doesn’t want to adjust to child’s needs. All children are different and it’s quite unprofessional to teach them all the same way. As the result: you pay money to feel guilty about your “wrong” child. Very disappointing

Bernice supports our daughter with pre-calc 12 and she has been a tremendous asset to our daughter's confidence in the course. Our expirience has been wonderful with nothing but professionalism demonstrated by involved in this organization. Thank-you Bernice and Tutor Doctor.
TERRIBLE!! Do NOT use this service. Costs an arm and a leg, they take forever to respond and they give you the run around for at least 60 days because then you are not eligible to get a refund. They promised the top notch tutor system with the ability to re listen and it was all a story to sell you something that doesn’t exist. I’m frustrated that they scammed me. Don’t let it happen to you

My experience working with the clients was amazing. The staff, however, is another story. I was on boarded as a tutor by franchise owner Elliot Phipps in September 2024 in Mount Vernon, New York, but the franchise’s main office was in The Bronx, New York. I was told that we would be paid weekly but for the first three months my paycheck was late or missing hours. For example, I did not receive my full September paycheck until October nor did I receive my full October paycheck until November and so on. when the pay situation was finally corrected, they switched from paying us through ADP to paying us through Zelle. Sometimes I would receive my paycheck on time, but for the most part, it was always late. For example, we were to receive our paychecks on Sunday and I would have to reach out to Elliot Phipps to remind him to send my paycheck. Sometimes he didn’t answer and I’d have to reach out to my direct supervisor Nicoise Waring so that she could contact him and I could get my paycheck. I usually wouldn’t get the pay until Wednesday and I submitted my timesheets in a timely manner. In July 2025 I got a call from Waring and a text from Phipps that the franchise would be closing. I inquired when this would take place so that I could job search and because I still had open sessions with clients. I did not get an answer back until the following week (July 15th) from Phipps when he emailed me telling me that my last paycheck was sent (late). I still had open sessions for the week and they also did not notify the clients. I requested a termination letter from him stating that I need it because my rent is dependent on my income and if I have any decrease or increase to it, I have to submit that change to management so my rent is always affordable and fair for me to pay. I never got an answer back. I did not get a reply from him. I waited a while and then reached out to Waring through text who also did not answer me. I contacted each of them one more time do phone call and text, near the end of July and still no answer to this day. I called the national hotline and spoke to several representatives about how to obtain a termination letter, so my rent could adjusted for the loss of income. They all told me they would forward my situation to corporate and mark it as urgent. I have called every 72 hours for the entire month of August and I still haven’t gotten an answer back. in the middle of August, Waring sent out an email and CCed Phipps. The email stated that the certificates I received from the company were attached, along with a recommendation letter and that I should quickly download these items as the shared Google Drive would be shut down soon. I replied to the email inquiring again about a termination letter and still have not gotten an answer back to this day.
Extremely poor experience
I was subcontracted to work for Tutor Doctor Adelaide East from November of last year and ceased by mid may of this year. Unfortunately I have not been paid for 14 sessions, despite my clients paying their appropriate fees. I have just found that their trading business number in Australia has been cancelled. The phone numbers have also been disconnected and I cannot contact them. I am consulting for legal advice to obtain payment.

Even after an initial interview to get to know the student, who was looking for grade 12 advanced tutoring to bump his grades up required for engineering, the tutors provided either did not show up, were not prepared, or could not assist him with what was required.

I had an extremely disappointing experience working with Tutor doctor. Despite fulfilling my responsibilities as a tutor, I was never paid for my work. I reached out multiple times to address the issue, but my concerns were either ignored or met with unhelpful responses.
It’s unacceptable for a company to take advantage of its employees, especially when they rely on timely payments. If you’re considering working with this company, I strongly urge you to be cautious. A business that refuses to pay its workers is not one worth trusting.

Raveena Patel took our money, but we didn't get the help that we needed. She wouldn't respond to repeated texts that we wanted our money back for unused sessions. My daughter's tutor Shelby did the math for her so my daughter didn't learn how to do them on her own. I had told her my daughter is more apt to learn in person, but she said the only tutor they had was online. It's scammy.

£49.50 an hour for tutoring absolutely astronomical costing for tutoring. Promised the earth and all company are bothered about is payments not how my child is progressing. The tutors are amazing but the cost is unbelievable, and taking advantage of families trying to support their children to progress. You should be ashamed at these prices you are charging

I am a science tutor, and was contacted by Tutor Doctor in the Uk. I guess they spotted that my charge rate of 27 pounds per hour was nice and low, allowing them to slap on a big mark up. I have done over 50 hours of tutoring during this year via Tutor Doctor for students who are out of school (retaking A levels, etc). They offered a rate of 25 pounds per hr, which seemed reasonable, given I was able to do some tutoring during school hours. Tutors are required to enter "reports" on each tutorial. Early on I was naive enough to think they required a meaningful report, so spent significant extra time writing this, though after a while I realised that my "manager" had no interest in the content of the report. Then I was required to enter the report on a user-unfriendly website. Overall, this meant a significant extra amount of time was required, so the actual hourly pay was significantly less than 25 pounds.
I offered one parent the option to pay me the 25 pounds direct. She said it sounded great but then said, enigmatically, "I have to carry on with Tutor Doctor". I now discover from this Trustpilot thread why she felt she needed to stay with Tutor Doctor: they persuade students and parents to fork out nearly 3000 pounds, up front, for 45 hours of tuition to Tutor Doctor, but the tutor gets less than 25 pounds per hour: a 140 per cent profit for doing precious little to benefit students. Such demands for massive upfront payments with no guarantee of quality tuition are a disgrace. Students and their families would be much better off using legitimate tutor agencies, who don't demand such payments.

Joni is terrible to work with. She is condescending and rude. Tutor doctor pays late, they do not pay in full, they have hidden terms and conditions that they do not communicate and you do not agree to but then they enforce and deduct from your pay. They are unprofessional and they are unreliable. They pay you a 1/4 of what the parent pays for the session.

After that turn up to be an agency
Late payment trying to use others skills to make money
Absolutely not recommended as work or as tutor for children

I have been using Tutor Doctor for many years both professionally and personally. In all this time their commitment to the learner and their outcomes has never faltered. Their flexibility in finding the right fit for the child has always been appreciated.
Waste of money. I purchased the 42hours for my daughter but no benefit at all.
Failed to return calls as promised twice also claimed we weren't in their area when we clearly were, shame as use to have a good reputation locally.
Owner of Longmont, CO franchise is transphobic and believes that trans people suffer from a "psychological disorder." He is not a safe person to bring into your home if you or your children are LGBTQ+. I can provide receipts of his bigoted words.
Our experience with Tutor Doctor couldn’t have been better. They were easy to work with, matched us to an amazing tutor, and made everything my easy. Highly recommend!
