Plants DOA, Tulip World Refusing Refund

I naively ordered from Tulip World because they had the variety of Clematis I wanted, and I couldn't find it locally. I also added some Echinacea and Phlox to the order while I was at it. The plants finally came, and they all looked DEAD. I planted them the minute they arrived, in top planting soil and perfect conditions. Only one clematis grew, the rest remained dead. I contacted TW a couple weeks in and asked for a refund, they said they ship their plants in a dormant stage, so it takes 6-8 weeks to see growth. What a line. They tell you that because after 6-8 weeks, they don't give cash refunds, only "gift certificates" to get more dead plants. I stupidly did not check reviews on TW before ordering and I should have, as I'm not the only one they have cheated. I will be contacting BBB and I guess their state attorney general about TW's poor business practices. Cheating customers is not a good way to do business! (By the way, after three months, the only live plant is barely 3 inches tall. Not good quality at all!)

Per our guarantee if items arrive in poor or questionable condition we ask that customers contact us within 5 days of receiving the order so we can determine if replacements are necessary or if the items should be planted. If we haven't been contacted right away, we do ask our customers to give time for the bare roots to grow as they can take up to 6-8 weeks, and are often growing roots underground before above ground growth. Therefore, in this situation our customer service team was following our guarantee policy, we are sorry if this was not the outcome you had hoped for. The merchandise credit still is available for you for this order to order additional items in the future.

First AND LAST time buyer!

I was DUMB enough to make my FIRST AND ONLY order during the summer sale - placed a large order of lily bulbs and
freesia - I do flower arranging and was excited to get a great deal on some bulbs. I should have known, however, that there's no such thing as a "deal"! I ordered on 7/25 and was told on 7/26 that it had shipped. On 7/27 I questioned why it was shipping in the middle of July - I ASSUMED that I would get them I in the fall (we usually plant bulbs in the spring and fall in zone 4). After I was reassured by "Rose L." on 7/28 that my bulbs would be perfectly fine to plant, my bulbs showed up via Postal mail on SATURDAY, 7/29. After seeing the condition of the bulbs, I placed a call on 7/31 to explain the poor quality and that I wanted a refund and a return label to send them back. (at this time I hadn't opened any of the packages, but a few had plants that had broken THROUGH the plastic bags, so I could start to see the quality of the bulbs). I was told that I would have to pay for shipping and I had 10 days to ship it back. I decided to open the packages and what I found angered me to NO end - I was taken advantage of! ENTIRE PACKAGES OF BULBS were all growing in curls in ALL directions - these bulbs weren't going to produce ANYTHING! As I opened more bags, I only found ONE BULB that hadn't grown out of control! These bulbs weren't stored properly so they've become nothing more than trash! I've worked with greenhouses and had my own floral shop for over 40 years - I know what TRASH looks like and NO company should be allowed to sell a product like this! On 8/1 I emailed Rose L. again, sending her photos to show her the quality of the product that I received - no response. On 8/2 I AGAIN emailed "Rose L", sending her more photos - again, nothing! So, IM WARNING YOU - *BUYER BEWARE*!!! Tulip World🌷DOES NOT 100% Guarantee ANYTHING! Today, 8/3 I spoke with Sam and he said that they would give 75% of my money back if I return them but they WONT pay for shipping! NEVER have I dealt with a company who didn't care about the product that they are selling and in my business, I've dealt with a lot! And if I ever had an issue, the company AT LEAST they would guaranty the product that had their name on it! There are some WONDERFUL companies that you can purchase live plants and other gardening supplies from - DONT BUY FROM TULIP WORLD - they DONT guarantee what they sell, but I CAN guarantee the headache that you will get when you have to deal with them!!!
UPDATE: 8/10 - with modern technology, you'd think the "refund" would've hit my bank by now! I wish it was possible to post photos because I wouldn't have to say a thing! Those bulbs are ALL dried out, so to ship the ENTIRE box of bulbs and tell me that 25% was viable? Why waste your customer's time? Instead, wouldn't it be better FOR EVERYONE if you only sold quality bulbs 100% OF THE TIME? Just think about the customers that you lose because they pay for FALSE promises that "out of the goodness of your heart" you dropped your prices on QUALITY products when, instead, all they got was a box of compost for their garden that they had to PAY for? Many of us can't afford your typical high prices and we want gardens that WOW people too, so when you rip people like us off, some of us are going to do whatever we need to do to warn others!

Our website does list these items as available for immediate shipping, we have multiple locations on the website that say they will ship out in 1-2 business days. Many of our customers take advantage of late season shipments of items like liliies, as they are perennial and will produce results the following season even if growth is present on the bulbs upon arrival.
Regarding your concerns our team did refund you 75% of the order without requiring that the bulbs were returned to us. The portion of the order that was not refunded was the portion that our specialist felt were viable for planting and therefore, the refund could not be justified.

Bulbs were DOA. Customer service aweful.

I ordered 3 begonia bulbs. i received them after a long time. It was a bit late in the season so I asked the chat room if I should store them. They did not reply so I did. Planted them this season. Not so much as a sprout. This time the "customer service" people got on line long enough to tell me I had violated the grow guarantee by storing the bulbs and so they could do nothing for me. High margin business. Ship bulbs that don't grow with no consequence and outsourced spotty "customer service" that tells its customers they are SOL.

They sent an incomplete order

They sent an incomplete order. I got mad and tracked down the main office.And later a customer service person called to apologize and they said they will send it no charge.We shall see.
Be aware that Holland Bulbs Tulip world, and beautiful Holland Bulbs is ALL the same business with 3 different numbers. So call the 414 area code number to complain to them....everyone else you might encounter will make you loose your mind...........

Cheated by Tulip World …

I entered a complaint about this company Tulip World weeks ago and their response was that I needed to wait ANOTHER few weeks for a refund on DEAD PLANTS! I called for a Refund today and got a complete runaround again! The total I paid was 22.63 and after stalling for weeks they said they MIGHT credit me $12 they will keep your money for DEAD Plants and if they come back on here with another story, beware my friend, they’re lying 😡

Bad Business

I bought two Canna bulbs from them and I am an experienced gardener, I have done everything I know to get them to grow FOR WEEKS! I called Tulip World and courteously ask for a refund. They flat refused! I will NEVER order from them again 😡

Consistently have the wrong bulbs in the packaging

What really frustrates me about this company is that they consistently send the wrong bulbs packaged and labelled as the right bulbs. I originally made a few orders in 2021, some of the bulbs didn't come up, most did, but at least half were completely different from what I ordered (a daffodil that was supposed to have a long pink center, had a short orange one; red tulips instead of orange; red and white ranunculus instead of pink, etc. When I provided plenty of pictures and they sent me new replacement bulbs this fall instead of a refund, the new replacements are coming up as the wrong plant as well! A solid yellow mini daffodil instead of my pink and white one, the wrong type of tulip etc. As a gardener it's almost worse then them not coming up at all because then I could hopefully get a refund and replace with new plants from a reputable dealer. Instead it's only at the point of blooming you realize your garden color scheme is now messed up and another year of effort has been wasted tending bulbs that weren't what you wanted. At this point I'm thinking they are scammers, just repacking poorly selling bulbs into new bags with misleading labels, it's happening so consistently and other buyers online have reported the same experience. A grow guarantee is worth nothing if over a two year period they never manage to send you the right bulb!

I ordered day lillies

I ordered day lillies. Each one arrived riddles with flying bugs. They sent replacements that are also full of bugs. They contend it’s just “gnats” but it looks exactly like something called dysaphis tulipae which is an aphid. They still refuse to issue a refund and recommend planting that crap.

Ordered a week ago

Ordered a week ago. My item hasn't shipped. Asked when they were going to send it maybe next week but I would have to wait until all orders since November was shipped first. I should of checked their BBB claims and reviews before I ordered from them. Oh well their prices are good but getting your order would take a long time, if you got it at all

Bulbs and perennials

I order bulbs as well as 4 perennials. The daffs were good bulbs - all healthy, good size. Just got spring delivery of gladiola and liatris bulbs; they look good, but white liatris 10 pack was short a bulb, no big deal. The 4 perennials were tiny root stocks which arrived with 1" grown, two of which already had some brown and dying off growth. I put them right in the ground when they arrived, but only time will tell if they will do well.
I'll probably buy bulbs from them again but for the money, size and quality, I'll source my perennials from local nurseries from now on.

Tulip World offers great prices on…

Tulip World offers great prices on plants as well as shipping. I have never had to complain about the condition of the plants because they have performed well but I'm sure they will make things right just as their sister company, Holland Bulb Farms always do. I have ordered several amaryllis bulbs when they offer sales and have never gotten a rotten bulb which I have experienced with other companies.

Probably the worst company to deal…

Probably the worst company to deal with. I have ordered a few times from them. The dahlias I ordered for last season were almost all wrong. The hyacinths I recently ordered came moldy. And the muscari has not grown at all.

Most other things I have ordered from them do not grow. I am an avid gardener to give some background. Despite sending photos of my latest order, they offered a merchandise credit. It’s money wasted. I can’t keep ordering from a company whose products are awful.

Wrong daffodils

I ordered my daughter 50 double daffodils. They are singles. Someone said send picture and they would give credit. We did. Then they want pictures of all of them. There's 50 of them planted all over. 50 pictures? Just putting us off. Don't buy from this company

I will never buy from again !!

I bought 75 paperwhite bulbs to force - I have been doing this for 30 years and with great results every year usually buying them locally. Decide to try Tulip World this year - worst bulbs! 5 weeks later nothing is barely coming up. I will never buh from again. Some arrived moldy (about 10%) - did not plant those but the rest just never grew - will never buy from again.

Money taken, no order received

I placed an order totaling $45+ and when I contacted them to see when it would arrived, was told my card was declined. When checking my card balance (debit card), the money was sent. Tulip World wanted a copy of my statement which I couldn't get until it was posted this month. I sent an electronic copy and the next excuse was they would have to investigate which I told them back in NV. Still waiting to hear from them. No bulbs and no refund.

Before placing my order I confirmed… Shipping Time

Before placing my order I confirmed shipment date of a few select bulbs to be used as a fundraiser. There were no hesitations or hick ups with them taking my order or monies. But now the time to deliver has come and they cant supply the bulbs on time. Stating some of them are still in the ground in Holand ! I was very clear with the lady who helped me pick out what bulbs in August that they would be ready to ship by the needed date.

I ordered last week got charge twice

I ordered last week got charge twice i call cs and provide everything from the bank as a proof even my bank msg them that i was billed twice they keep on saying they cannot fond the money i only got charge once even though i have proof that it was deducted twice item arrive with mossing 1 bag order and the othe item which os a gladilous was super dry almost just the skin was left because it was very dry i was so disappointed with what happened with all the headache i got from your company it was almost 100$ charge it is not right not to return my money back . The cs was very rudethey were even asking me to tell the bank to investigate how come they have a proof that i qas charge twice.

Received dead plants,refund not yet received....

Received 2 clearly dead,dried up blue globe thistle bare roots (no viable roots,dark and loose in bag),,,,,Notified company by email,was asked to send photos so they could "decide" how to proceed....have not heard back,called them and was told last weeks email were still being read...? In spite of 100% guarantee,cust serv.today said item was on sale,unlikely to receive full refund,may just be credit...After reading all the negative reviews from past customers,I do not want a credit,just full refund...these were dead when shipped,noone even checked the viability prior to shipping to me....will open case with Paypal for refund if not resolved in next 2 days....ALWAYS read reviews prior to ordering online!
