Generally it's good

Generally it's good. But the room difficulty or the time required are rarely realistic. Indicated 50 min may take 36 hours if done thoroughly. Easy can be insane difficult and difficult can be easy. A bit careless and thoughtless on room developers behalf.

Great for beginners!

TryHackMe is a very helpful cybersecurity learning platform, specially if you are just starting out. The content is well structured and most of the challenges are gamified. After a year I can tell the content is regularly updated. Their updates on the SOC L1 path are deeply appreciated, as the content is now geared towards real SOC environments.

The page doesn't work and they don't respond in support

The page doesn't work, I paid the monthly payment and it's a total scam because every time I try to enter the laboratory it throws me an error, and the page suggests that I send it to support, I did that several times and never got a response of any kind, I don't know who else to write to anymore

Great platform but bad renewal practices

Great platform, but the subscription is automatically renewed without any reminder.
I don't use Try Hack Me for some time now. But I was notified that I had to pay for next year again. I immediately stopped the renewal, but I still have to pay for something I don't use.

As a French consumer, I benefit from the protection of France's laws, even when buying from a foreign company.

Loi Chatel (Article L215-1, L215-4, and L241-3 of the Consumer Code), which specifically governs the automatic renewal of contracts for services provided to individuals states:
The Obligation: Service providers must notify you in writing (or via email) about the upcoming renewal date and your right to terminate the contract. This notification must be sent no earlier than three months and no later than one month before the deadline to refuse the renewal.

Try Hack Me failed to do so.

Auto-renewed without notice & no response from support since 30 November 2025.

My yearly subscription was auto-renewed on 30 November without any proper notice. I cancelled the subscription immediately, and contact TryHackMe to issue a refund.

The most disappointing part is that TryHackMe has completely stopped responding to my support emails since 30 November. I have contacted them multiple times, but there has been no reply at all.

This experience feels highly unprofessional. I hope TryHackMe resolves this issue and improves their customer support urgently.

Predatory Cancellation Practices

When first learning cybersecurity, this was a great tool that I spent hundreds on to help support the site.
However, I've noticed a severe decrease in care this year. They are focused in adding/modifying features that are more aligned with brand awareness and shareholder visibility (e.g. Adding AI, changing how answers are input), instead of fixing the issues facing the site (e.g. VMs spinning down randomly).
Previously, THM were four to five stars, then they went down to three, but while cancelling they showed blatant predatory cancel practices.
Would I still use the site if I was starting? Yes.
Would I pay for premium? No.

No customer support

Paid for a year’s premium and my account was locked out before I could even get started. Password reset and magic link don’t work, and despite several attempts to contact support, I’ve had no response at all. The customer service is non-existent. I’ve now had to raise a case with PayPal because I’ve received nothing for my payment and still can’t access my account. Don’t waste your time

TryHackMe Review

TryHackMe Review – The Best Place to Learn Cybersecurity Hands-On

TryHackMe is an outstanding platform for anyone interested in learning cybersecurity, whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced professional looking to sharpen your skills. What sets it apart is its interactive, hands-on approach — you’re not just reading theory, you’re actually hacking into simulated systems in safe, guided environments.

The platform offers structured learning paths (like Pre Security, CompTIA Security+, Jr Penetration Tester, and Red Teaming) that make it easy to follow a clear progression. Each module combines theory, practical exercises, and real-world scenarios, helping you understand how attacks work and how to defend against them.

I especially appreciate the browser-based virtual machines, which make it simple to start hacking without any complex setup. The community support is excellent too — the forums and Discord server are full of helpful people always willing to share knowledge.

Overall, TryHackMe makes cybersecurity accessible, engaging, and genuinely fun. It’s a perfect choice for anyone looking to build practical skills and confidence in ethical hacking and information security.

The best platform for self-study!

The best platform for self-study!

I'm new to Cybersecurity. As an student I'm experiencing a great way to have the basics of Cybersecurity. Hands on activities are one of the best learning method in TryHackMe. Also, the content of each module/room is simpler and understandable. Highly recommend for others to engage in TryHackMe and experience the learning patterns.

Thank you.

2021 vs 2025 THM

I guess I can call myself a veteran of TryHackMe. Since I left the site in 2021 It changed a lot and became much better and broader. I left it because there wasn't much left to learn for free and at the time I could not afford to buy a subsription, but now I feel left behind and even bought premium, because of all new modules and better learning paths. I would say this is the best place to start Your cybersecurity journey, because of wide variety of tasks and free access. Still only one problem I've noticed is the lack of access servers across the world. I am located in eastern europe and my ping to EU servers ranges from 70ms to 120ms.
