I was very happy dealing with Charles regarding the different options on offer and an excellent price that followed. On the day your guys arrived early and quickly got to work. Well before the skip arrived. They were courteous and diligent about their work. When they had finished they left the garden walkways and parking bays absolutely spotless.

I went with Trulawn as they are one of the larger installers in the UK and seemed to supply and install the grass.
I will start with the positives.

Now the issues:

All in all I have ended up with a patchwork astro with unnecessary joins, installed by a team that used pacing instead of a tape measure. Then a sales person who gives completely contradictory information. The best saving grace my garden has CCTV and a clear sign saying 24 hour recording in operation so you would expect the highest professionalism and honesty. The original sales appointment about the joins the path and how zeolite works, and subsequent review after the installation which contradicted a lot of what was originally agreed, as well as all the installation, including the pacing, the realisation they were meant to remeasure, is all documented. This looks like it will end up with solicitors, the good thing is I paid on a credit card so have protection and have undeniable evidence. I am going to try a formal complaints procedure, in the first instance they just sent the original sales person back out to say nothing was a problem.

1. My ordered grass was unavailable, so I had to choose an alternative just weeks before installation.
2. The sub-base installation was fine, but the grass installation was a disaster. My garden is 11.8m wide, yet the installers never used a tape measure, relying on pacing instead. As a result, one section came up 3cm short, forcing a visible join that better planning could have avoided or at least placed more discreetly.
3. The sales rep assured me there would be only two joins, and his plans reflected that, but the final installation had three.
4. We discussed two layout options: one keeping a slab path, and one removing it. I confirmed via email that the quote accounted for the path removal, yet during installation, it was clear they hadn’t measured properly. This led to a patchwork of poorly joined sections, including horizontal joins that look like a complete bodge job.
5. The installers ignored instructions to remeasure, which they later admitted. They left early on the first day—five minutes of measuring could have prevented the mess.
6. When the sales rep returned, he said the joins would be invisible in three weeks, yet refused to put that in writing. Their terms conveniently state they don’t guarantee invisible joins, contradicting what he told me.
7. The Zeolite issue—sold to me as a product to combat dog urine smells—was also mishandled. I was told it would be brushed into the grass, but they only applied it to the sub-base, contradicting Trulawn’s own guidance and images of their zeolite installs. When I questioned this, the sales rep dismissed my concerns, claiming I “misheard.”
8. After my complaint, the sales rep denied any issues, claimed I was lucky they even had enough grass for the patched in a section (despite our prior agreement), and insisted three joins were unavoidable, though that wasn’t in his plans but at least couldn’t argue the strip shouldn’t have been in the most visible area. Other installers reviewed the work and confirmed it was poorly planned with unnecessary joins and that it is nonsense about zeolite not going on top of the grass.
All of the above is captured and I hope gets resolved before it ends up in a full legal argument but there is very clear misrepresentation and a lack of care and professionalism in the installation. A company that doesn’t use a tape measure is clearly not to standard.

Trulawn were truly amazing from start to finish. Debbie was a lovely lady who surveyed the job giving ideas and info. The price was very fair and competitive too.
Everything was organised and dealt with by the company so all we had to do was to be there to let the guys in. The workmen were fantastic, polite, tidy and hard working, they did an outstanding job and totally transformed our garden.
